Appreciate what you had to say about Flores. Regardless of how most Dolphins fans feel. He didn't have losing seasons. Also, he set a foundation for the winning culture the team has now.
Je wasn't a good Head coach with us. Doesn't mean he can't be a good head coach in the future but you would have to be an idiot to hire him in that capacity. Too sue happy
700 lbs of guard would play extremely well with our athletic center, and lines up with where these good offenses are going. Good teams are prioritizing both the run and pass.
McD is a big part of the problem here. The OL is lackluster but not the disaster many portend to. The problem is both play calling and lack of performance from the QB position.
Bring in Mike Vabril and start the rebuild and this time stick to it and allow a tough discipline coach build a tough discipline team. It may take a some time to fix the problems on offense but a 1000 mile journey starts with the first step.
When you watch some of the film, Skylar had players open that he didn’t throw to - in some cases, very open. Mike had decent plays and the O-line wasn’t the problem - not the primary problem, anyway. Skylar didn’t or wouldn’t pull the trigger. So - you either get him to throw the damn ball or give him nothing but runs, which any team in the league can eventually stop because none of our backs are Derrick Henry in his prime (few are). He needed to switch to Tim Boyle before Skylar got broke - and given him more run time. He looked ok - and neither he nor the O-line caused the Tight End to drop the football in the end zone. Mike has to recognize earlier that Skylar wasn’t playing well. He NEEDS to do THAT much. Huntley will probably do better.
What I'd love to see for Miami by the start of next season: >Figure out if Patrick Paul and Chop are worth a damn before the season ends. I'm not saying throw them in the fire and if they get burned a bit, toss them aside, but we gotta know if they're going to be able to worth a damn going into the future. And do the same for Cam Smith, Kader, and Tindall as well, 'cause we've never seen two of them, and Kader's looked like shit the last two seasons compared to '22. >Trade a 5th for Evan Neal. I want more talent in this OL room, you can play him at either OT spot. I saw him be an utter stud at Bama for two years, and I've seen enough of him in NY doing something right and getting blamed. If he can be saved, then you just got a 1st Round OT for a 5th. >Fire Grier. I was a defender of his, but when he smugly showed his ego on the OL, even though we've seen it be the worst in the league over the last five or six years, he confirmed that it wasn't a blind-spot, but he actively refused to address it. >Force Mr Glass to retire. >Sign Holland and Phillips. >Sign Jedrick Wills out of Cleveland, he'll be a UFA. Yea, I know he's been dealing with injuries his entire pro-career. I also saw him be the unquestionable best linemen to play under Saban at Alabama, physically and mentally. He'll be cheap because of the injury history, and again, this OL room has to have a major influx of talent. >Cut Eichenberg and Jones. Pray Brewer's good the rest of this year so you have a stop-gap and depth going into '25. >Move Austin Jackson to OG, he's looked fucking pitiful all year so far. >Draft heavily on the IOL the first four Rounds. Go after Brailsford, the C out of Alabama (in three games I've seen a lot of athleticism and intelligence, like him snapping the ball quickly to get the offsides penalty), and draft a stud OG. Creating a good OL will obviously help the offense function and control the clock, which can alleviate whatever holes will be on the defense. >If McDaniel doesn't obviously improve as a HC by the end of the season, fire him. At that point it'll be three years and we've seen no growth as HC and the team to continue playing weak. And if I'm McDaniel, Grier, Ross, whoever, I'm making Frank Smith the play-caller for the rest of the year with Tua in order to see what we actually have in Smith. So if McDaniel's gone, we can see if we're keeping him or not. Then go out and hire either Vrabel or Ben Johnson. Miami's gotten too fucking complacent with McDaniel and Grier the last three years, and it can't keep going on like this with how much money Ross is shilling-out and the level of talent on this roster, which has a timer on it. Next year is the last year you'll have with Tyreek, Chubb's an option to trade next year (and cut in '26 or '27) if Chop becomes what we hope he does, Ramsey can be cut or moved after next year, etc. This wasn't the final year of, "Get this shit done and make a deep Playoff run or it's all for nothing," next year is. And I don't want to waste that because Grier and McDaniel can't ever get out of their own way.
I think Mike needs to give up the play calling because his ADHD is flexed to the pass. I think that Shannahan calling plays in San Fran may have shut down Mcd's plays and now he has his own team and is going to try to prove his plan will work regardless
I'm sorry but as an old Dolphins fan who grew up watching the SB Championship teams of the 70's and a few of the Marino led teams that had excellent talent, I have seen what teams look like when they are well coached and talented. It appears to my eyes that we have one great player on defense (I would say two had Jalean Phillips not been injured last year) and one great player on offense (Tyreek)...other than that I just don't see much talent, especially on the OL, DL. What I see is a pretty good team. That is all...and our coach known for his affable style and yale vocabulary has been getting his brains beat out by the top teams in the league since he arrived in Miami.
McDaniel hasn’t settled with taking what defenses give him for 2 seasons now. Seemed like even when tua was in that the offense just looked like over complicated nonsense just to throw a screen pass. You can’t make motion and misdirection your identity without being effective at executing the basics first. All the staples of the Shanahan/kubiak style are based off some semblance of a running game
Kyle, it's 3 games. We're 1-2. So are the Ravens, 49ers, and Cowboys. The Bengals are 0-3. All will be there at the end. Blame Mike for play calling. But, did he call false starts, holding, dropped balls or DPI? No, the players play and they've played poorly. Most of it is a lack of discipline and focus. Coaches can coach to a point, but our team has to execute better. As Ingold said, "What does it matter what play is called. With proper technique and attention to details from every player, the play will be successful." Mike and Chris built this team for Tua. If we fail to make the playoffs, 84 yr old Steve Ross will say goodbye to both. Tyreek, Chubb, Smythe, Mostert, Poyer...and Tua will be gone. He wants to win while he's still alive. How do you build a team with Tua, who with one hit, can be gone from your team permanently? You need 2 QB1s that want to run a timing, finesse type offense. That's not a sustainable or practical model. If I'm Ross, I'm asking myself can I win a SB with this quarterback? This coach? This front office? I may like them all personally but as a business owner, I have to make a tough decision, one I know as a billionaire, he is capable of making. Mike was brought in to give Tua a chance to be successful...to make Ross' draft pick and investment worthwhile. Last year, we saw the best of Tua and that decision. It wasnt good enough. He knows what he has to do now...
Why and how are you assuming the best we saw from the QB was his 4th year in the league. Some good points but your assuming a lot as well. Your alluding to opinions being facts..
