    It’s not right they don’t offer manuals in the 150/1500 trucks these days. Simple, durable, and can last forever.

      Agreed. It's all about how many gears now. 10 speed automatics.. 😑 I mean c'mon. 8 gears (if geared right) should be more than enough. Even 6 gears. If spaced accordingly (Civic Si)

      with 10 speeds the companies are better able to control who can provide service. kind of like removing the headphone jack its a money grab

      The reason why is because it's actually cheaper to make most of the trucks and cars with automatic's than half and half.

    I factory ordered a 2000 Silverado standard cab shortbed sportside (stepside) black 2WD 4.3 5 speed 3.08 axle ratio. LS trim.....only had it for 5 years but put 146,000 miles on it due to long commute....hydroplaned on a wet road one day and slid off the road into a tree which totaled the truck......wish I still had that truck....got 22-23 mpg on the highway with a 26 gallon tank so it had nice range.

    This makes me regret ever getting rid of my 2000 Silverado ext cab W/T with the 4.8 and 4x4. It was a total rust bucket, to be sure, but once it got all new brake lines and rebuilt front suspension, I could always rely on it to get me from Point A to Point B come rain, shine, or especially snow. It even got me from Wisconsin to Ohio and back TWICE without skipping a beat. Traded it to my friend for his 1998 Tahoe, and I kick myself in the ass almost every day since then because it wasn't worth it by a long shot... I can only hope to find one like this again someday.

    I have the same truck (2000 w/ 4.8 & nv3500), except it's the 2wd version. I got it in 2007, and she still runs great in 2022. In the last two years, I ended up installing a 3" body lift and a 5" front and 3" blocks with airbags in the rear which really lifted and leveled it out. I have 33's on it now too (I bought some 20" take off's from a 2020 AT4). I may put 35's or 37's on just for fun in the future. I've driven it all over the United States, and I'd have to check to see how many miles it has. It's still my daily driver. I might buy a new truck one of these days, but it wont be a trade in. I'll probably keep mine for as long as I can. It's really funny, I have a great job and career and do very well for myself even though I am still relatively young. All of my coworkers drive really nice luxury vehicles, but I'm the guy still cruising around in my old '2000 chevy stick shifting silverado. Mobile 1 full synthetic every time.

      @trevorjameson3213 2 роки тому

      Man that's awesome. I have an '05 short bed, single cab with the 5-speed, and 4.8 V8. Bought it new in '05 and still have it and it still looks nearly new. These older Chevy trucks were really, really good. I've had mine 17 years now and I'll keep it as long as I can still drive. These days, it seems like nearly everywhere I go, some young guy wants to buy it from me. But there is no way I would ever sell it. Oh, and I also have only used Mobil 1 synthetic in mine since it was new, and change it every 3k miles even though you can go longer, I don't do that. My truck has 164k miles on it now, and still doesn't use oil, or leak anywhere.

So my 08 yukon denali had the weird flex joint pipe rust in two and it would've cost me like $1,100-1,200 to get a new oem exhaust but instead I paid $400 for an MBRP Installer series performance exhaust which sounds absolutely perfect not loud and has just enough rumble to know I've got a 6.2 LS under my right foot and my 03 Sierra reg cab rwd 4.8 manual has some crazy exhaust on it that'll pierce your ears if I redline it smh this sounds great I may just have to check around for a stock exhaust for it but it does also have a cam and intake on it with a tune so changing back to stock exhaust could make it run like crap...

Current truck 2008 GMC 2500 6.0 just lost compression on Cylinder 8 at 541,000 miles, 13,000+ engine hours. After 17 years of driving Chevy trucks Commercially for 10-14hrs a day I can assure you that steering wheel you currently have is the most comfortable steering wheel Chevy ever made. The only other wheel that's more comfortable but it doesn't have an airbag but with certainty it will fit is this one

    What trans you have in that? I have a 94' 5.7 with a NV3500 in it. Went out on me last year. Found a good warrentied rebuilt online. But that trans was difficult for me for awhile. Lol. Was just curious what your trans is. Nice truck. 👍

      Terrible set up! 1st gear was too high, and they were hard on clutches. Top gear was to low, and they were guzzlers. The new 6 speeds are the way to go. You get a nice low 1st, and a nice tall 6th. Now if you don't know how to drive, all bets are off. I'm a driver trainer. That's where I love to help!

    You should have straight pipes that truck

    • @slimwilly573
      @slimwilly573 4 роки тому

      I'm not sure about straight pipes, but that's just my opinion, if you like the idea of straight pipes check out the spintech mufflers. They have a nice mellow tone when cruising and steady throttle like running down the highway, but when u want it to be loud and you open it up a little she roars.. sounds great and the best part is there isn't any packing material in it just walls and they are designed to make the flow swirl like a tornado which will help with back pressure and when actual driving for mpg you will notice it seems to really help out I swapped out my flowmasters for them a while back and will never go back my truck seems to really like them and my gas hand doesnt seem to wanna stay on empty the whole time anymore.. just my honest opinion to each their own.

    Lets say your on 4th or 5th and you downshift...you go back to 1st correct?

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 2 роки тому

      No! Please never do that. When you downshift, match the rpms to the next lower gear, and shift down. So you go from 5th to 4th, then to 3rd, then 2nd, and only go to 1st gear when you are almost stopped. If you don't do it this way, it puts enormous strain on the synchronizers and will damage the gearbox. Basically you need to only downshift to a lower gear if you are going slow enough for that particular gear. For example, I would downshift from 5th to 4th at 50mph, then 4th to 3rd at 30mph, then 3rd to 2nd at 20mph, then 2nd to 1st when you're almost stopped (or around 10mph is ok). Do it this way and the trans will shift very smoothly without damaging it.

      Exactly! And you're right, it's loads of fun, and lots of scratches and cuss words to replace it! I've done it, TWICE! And both times it sucked big time! There's a guy on the internet somewhere who manufactures a custom-made, all steel unit, which includes the clutch pedal, and that thing will never break, obviously. But he was asking well over three hundred bucks for it so I didn't buy it yet.
