I know I'm not the first one to mention the damage the clothing industry does for the environment, but my tip is to search, search and search until you find the perfect item before buying it - not investing money in those nearly perfect items and not returning them. The fluffy jackets in the beginning of the video are a great example of this: one is the wrong color, one is too big.. But hey, no one is perfect and you're still doing a great job decluttering these!!
i do this all the time! if i don't love it 200% i don't buy it. i'm also sad that so many stores are closing, i prefer to try things on than shopping online because then you know how it fits
Hey Alix. If you are up for it, I would really love to see you do a film about your relationship with clothes. You seem to buy things that you don't ever wear and I wonder if that's a symptom of retail therapy - a hangover from grief, if you will. You don't need to get especially personal with it but it would be interesting to see you talk more about your relationship with clothing and what fashion *really* means to you. Just an idea 😘
I am not quite happy coz you just did a decluttering and it seems like doing marie kondo thing is just an excuse to get rid of stuff and buy more later. I have been watching youtubers doing marie kondo and after a few weeks they will do a haul and saying that they are going to do sustainable fashion .and y do people say oh i have this for years and i need to get rid of it.clothes dont expire unless u cant really fit on it.
it's because she sells them on depop (her link in the description shows some items featured in the video), so she makes money back from the decluttering.
I used to really enjoy your decluttering videos because it's always nice to downsize your collection and keep what you actually wear, but now that you've done so many, I found myself wondering how many more times you're going to repeat the process of buying and decluttering so many clothes. I know you're moving and you've lost weight, but I also wonder if you tried on what you're not keeping to see if you would fall back in love with them. There's nothing wrong with hanging onto formal clothes for special occasions and if some items haven't worn out, it's not bad to keep them around for a while longer. Just because you donate items doesn't mean it saves them; I've heard a lot of donated clothes get thrown into landfills... I'm just putting this out there because I also own a lot of clothes and I've decluttered many times, but I'm at a point where even though I have a lot of clothes, I truly love everything and I don't want to downsize any further. Also, nothing wrong with transitioning t-shirts into pjs, clothes should be multi-purpose! :)
Annie C i would need to do a little more research but i know donating clothes in the us is way different then in the uk, where they go to an actual charity shop. but as well in the us they only are discarded if they are donated in a state that makes them unable to resale, if they are damaged or to worn out etc
I don't even know how someone could possible accumulate that many jeans... I'm glad you're thinking more about what you need but dear lord please stop shopping 😭

Not to hate but do you actually listen to Joy Division? This is just not the kind of music I’d associate with you or imagine you listening to. If you do, that would be really cool!
Lindsey Curtis it is, but with some bands/singers it’s just tragic. First an artist pulls their own beating heart out of their chest and puts it into the music and then they play it in grocery stores and wear T-shirt’s with album art for fashion... I once heard Amy’s Back to Black in the vegetable aisle and I almost cried.
I'm so sorry, but I don't get why people watch this video, and then go 'Oh my God, stop shopping, it's not good' when the title on the video is what it is! You know the content of the video, why watch if all you want to do is point a finger? it seem like it's just so you can asure yourself, that you do it better! But that dosen't give you the right to put others down. Alix dosen't just throw her clothes in the bin - she give it to charity or donate part of her earnings. Fashion and beauty is what she does for a living.
Only ten percent of clothes donated to thrift/charity shops are resold. Most are thrown out. Even if you donate clothes to charity, there's a 90% chance it will end up in a landfill. In addition, the fashion industry is horrendous for the environment, uses slave/sweatshop labor, and sucks our bank accounts dry. It's a good policy to not buy things that you will get very little use out of. I don't give her hate, but there is some validity to the criticism.
I don't understand all the hate. It's Alix's money and she can do whatever she want to do with it. It's not like she's not buying food to buy jeans. Someone wants to have 4 pairs, other person wants to have 10 or more, they don't go bad or anything like that...
@@miyounova I understand, but almost everything about what we do and how we live is bad for the environment. It's good to care, but it's also good to have in mind that everyone does what's best for them. For ex. Alix doesn't have a care, she's vegan and it's still much more than (I would say) most people do
Agnieszka Peis it's not an excuse. I was merely saying that people who point out the waste mainly think of the environment, not the money, as everyone defending shopping seems to say. Not caring is not an excuse. It's actually terrible. And other people not caring is also not an excuse. Not saying Alix is a horrible person, simply that there are no excuse for shopping for fun. We're just kidding ourselves.
Somehow I just ome back to rewatch all these videos because it brings me such calm still

@@kseniaswampland6667 any band shirt just for fashion is sad :(
Lindsey Curtis it is, but with some bands/singers it’s just tragic. First an artist pulls their own beating heart out of their chest and puts it into the music and then they play it in grocery stores and wear T-shirt’s with album art for fashion... I once heard Amy’s Back to Black in the vegetable aisle and I almost cried.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Seems like you kept more than you got rid of. Maybe because you went thru each pile and described each piece.
I have to sleep rn, but I say this video and the title.. and yeah.. I'm gonna sleep late tonight 😂
found it difficult to watch when you the camera while sorting ... made me feel motion sick x
Mary kondo😂😂
You look a littls like drew barrymore
I don't understand all the hate. It's Alix's money and she can do whatever she want to do with it. It's not like she's not buying food to buy jeans. Someone wants to have 4 pairs, other person wants to have 10 or more, they don't go bad or anything like that...
Agnieszka Peis this I totally agree !!! Everyone is hating when it’s literally her money
It's not about the money, it's about the environment
Camille she’s donating the clothes and selling it as well it’s not like she’s just getting rid of it and throwing it out
