This video actually convinced me to refrain from buying more clothes. I was gonna buy 2 tshirts just now but I dont want to end up with a giant pile of clothes that I never wear and dont even remember buying. I have enough t-shirts, i dont really need more.
I also dont really throw out old clothes, i just use them for when i'm at home. Like if an old sweater is no longer good enough to be worn in public, i'll wear it around the house until it literally falls apart. Same goes for old shirts and t-shirts.
Same, I don't really get rid of things until they have holes in them or are really saggy at least haha
I'd suggest ypu make a list of things you need for spring/summer now whilst you know what you have. That way you can avoid duplicating things and really end up with a more useful closet.

If a dress doesn't fit properly, you can always get it tailored! Tailors can do wonders on our clothes! I have "saved" so many dresses by getting them tailored! You have amazing clothes, especially dresses!
So... you spend seven hours and let go of a massive amount of stuff (great!) - only to start thinking immediately about going back out and shopping some more (crazy)! My advice is to sit down and have a good hard think about how much all that stuff that is going to charity cost you.
This might just inspire me to declutter my own wardrobe! It's been a work in progress for a while now but it would be nice to have everything organised again x

i understand you like shopping and clothes :) but wow you have so many jeans i have two pair of jeans a black and blue pair in the fit that suits me most and i wear those two all winter long and just wash them both each week , i personal find that i just dont need that many bottoms and mix up the look with different tops which works well cause generally tops are a lot cheaper then bottoms anyway but i may be alone

sammie lynn I have quite a lot of jeans too. 🙈 But I bought almost all of them on sale... I guess otherwise I wouldn't own that much.
sammie lynn wow I admire how you can have 2 pairs, I wish I could. I have - no lie sadly- over 50 jeans- there are coloured jeans, so white, black, khaki, black, ripped, dark blue, light blue. It's so much and totally overwhelming if I'm honest 😱
I also usually have just two pairs of jeans. Now I have three and I feel like a winner. :D But on the other hand, they wear out quite quickly because I use them so much, so I think in the end I buy just as much as those who have more pairs in rotation at the same time.
You wash your jeans every week?? I go months without washing mine. They just dont get dirty as easily when you have more than 2 pairs. They last longer too
I have about 7 or 8 pairs of jeans but considering jeans is all i ever wear, it's sensible I think.

Girl, you need to start trying on clothes before you buy them... or at least returning them if they don't fit!! Especially when you're buying from stores like topshop who are not ethical.
Also... "things I reach for really often" .... one of the items still has label on it. Is there some denial going on here? :')

I am currently in the process of decluttering and organising my wardrobe, I appreciated your honesty in this video. It made me smile because not every person is born with instinctive tidying and organisational skills.

Oh my goodness Alix,watching this has made me feel better about my clothes hoarding! I have been putting off my clearout for a while but I think it' now time to tackle the mountains of clothes. Let's do this!!!
Gok won says you should turn all you hangers around and if you haven't used the item and it's still the wrong way after 6 months/12 months, get rid! I tend to have a summer and winter wardrobe and put them in the vacuum package bags x
what makes me so sad to watch these decluttering videos, that we live in such an abundance that we enjoy throwing our possessions out.

Girrrrl, before you go shopping again, do yourself a favour and make a list of stuff you already have so you don't buy the same things again. Also, read The Curated Closet. Quite useful.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I never ever thought of myself as a minimalist but she makes me look like I own nothing.
Just a thought for you or others caught in a cycle of decluter buy declutter etc. : try a shopping ban for a few months. I did and I found it a lot easier to resist impulse buying afterwards and a lot less tempting to keep popping into shops to what's new. 🙂
Clean outs always inspire me to pass along times I'm not wearing anymore....there is always someone out there who will want to wear it!!!

David Bowie shirt is a definite keeper for now. Later on, if you don't like/want, you can list on eBay and get some cash. Vintage rock sells well.
Marks and spencer do hanger recycling for charity, I would definitely recommend it for all of those! Otherwise that form of plastic isn't commonly recycled in the U.K.
A little tip for choosing what to keep: Start with your hangers all facing one way and once you wear something flip the hanger the other way and keep it that way, if at the end of the season there's still hangers facing the starting way then that's the stuff you don't wear and should chuck out!

Why did you let go of the mango raspberry sweater with the high neck? You mentioned because it was for winter. Could you not put it away for the season? You loved it so much!

One day i got rid of all my gray jumpers,just because i thought they were to many.But i realized that i made a mistake and the next year i started to buy again same jumpers i thought i dont need.So i think that basic jumpers you must keep until next year.

Thats a lot of stuff xD my closet is actually really organised, but... i have no room! It is packed full and i have nothing left to declutter... but i also cant add anything new. At all. But on the other hand, everything (included shoes) fits in my 1 closet. 1/3 must be jumpers, 1/3 dresses and pants and 1/3 shirts and catdigans. So many jumpers.
I have that bowie tshirt too. Cant bear the thought of getting rid so wear it for pottering!
