    Hey Simon, I noticed with the CURV chronograph some of them has 'Ultra High Frequency' instead of 'High Performance Quartz' on the case back, is that a way to check whether it's fake? Or is it a matter of various editions may have different engravings on the back? I want to purchase this watch but I've noticed this slight difference from different sellers of these watches. Thank you

      Hi! No. I get this question very often. Unfortunately some guy on UA-cam put a video out and has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. BOTH are 100% real. Bulova changed the wording on their newer watches..you can feel safe buying either one. Thanks!

      SimonTheWatchGuy thanks a lot Simon! I’m not sure if you heard of the online website Jomashop and they have amazing deals! They’re currently selling this Bulova Curv chronograph for more than 50% off but I noticed the difference in the engraving hence my concerns. Thanks a lot for clarifying this for me.

    Awesome vid. My grandmother always recommended Bulova watches and I honor her memory by only buying Bulova. It’s amazing to know after all this time that the brand is still taking bold leaps and bounds in its effort to provide a unique style and consistent quality. I’ve always liked Bulova because their high end watches always look like they’re worth more than the retail price (and my Grandma had s-t-y-l-e so I trusted her fashion choices lol). I was confident in this choice, but your vid “pushed” me over the edge. Thanks!

    Not been in the hobby long but I think this is a brilliant design.
    1. Its original, which is saying a lot in the watch business , especially because its classy without being too busy yet still has plenty of interesting details which is a difficult balance.
    2. The movement is groundbreaking, Grand Seiko level precision. Maybe they should have charged a ridiculous sum, then it might appeal to the snobs.
    3 The curved design actually is a real improvement in structure. Watches have to fit on the organic human wrist which happens to not be flat. Simple perhaps but its a pretty big deal and original.
    4. the Aesthetics match the above technology in that its sleek, modern with technical materials like titanium. The sapphire skeletal design adds more technical interest.
    I love it and think its a bargain for what you get. Maybe, in time, I will become a jaded watch snob but for now ignorance is bliss.lol

    I have this watch and do really like it for its comfort due to the curve and light weight. I find the rubber band to be a bit frustrating due to the snugness of the fit when trying to pass the end thru the buckle. Had I known there was a metal band available I would have likely gone that route. Great video tho.

    Have seen the curve in local jewellers, the facia and curv is quite impressive. For me it's let down by a rubber strap, it would look better with a distressed leather suede strap. Jewellers in my home town goes for £699, nice review shame some idiots decided to comment fake.

    what do you think about this watch compares to bulova snorkel chrono? one thing i like about snorkel and lobster is that their bulova logo contains luminous paint.

    • @simonthewatchguy6073
      @simonthewatchguy6073  4 роки тому

      The snorkel is a beautiful watch - it has 100m water resistance I believe? Whereas the curv has 30m which is disappointing. I think it comes down to whether you want an extremely stylish watch (curv) Vs a chrono with water resistance and an arguably better looking Bulova hand. It's a difficult decision. I'm not a huge Chrono fan. If the curv had water resistance it would be the only watch I need. I've probably confused you more... Let me know what you end up going with !

  • @tossedpenny
    @tossedpenny 3 роки тому

    I'm seriously considering this exact 98A162 Curv watch. I'm somewhat concerned about the non-screw down crown though. I'm not looking to go deep sea diving or anything extreme, but I would need it to handle jumping in a swimming pool, ocean, shower and such. Do you think it it could manage these aquatic activities without sustaining water damage?

    • @simonthewatchguy6073
      @simonthewatchguy6073  3 роки тому

      Shower, yes. Splashes of water yes. Rain, yes. But no to pool, ocean etc. It's a stunning watch and I've had many, many compliments on it. It's a real shame it's not a screw down crown but it's not a diver and not supposed to be a tool watch, it's more of a sophisticated dress watch... so I can understand why they didn't put one on. I personally think get one, but just take it off for pool or ocean activities. If you do wear in the shower, just be a little careful with steam getting inside, that can be dangerous to many watches. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting.

    Hello! First of all, nice review!
    I have a question I was hoping you could help me with, please: what's the natural state of the seconds hand? does it normally stay steady or does it do a seconds hand function regardless of pressing the bottom button?
    I have the brown version and when I clic on the bottom button to rest the hand, if I don't click on the upper button to start the chronometer, I would assume the seconds hand should remain steady permanently unless I press on the bottom button again to perform it's seconds-measurement functionality. But it doesn't; instead, if the seconds hand is doing it's regular function and I press the bottom button to reset it and leave it like that, the seconds hand start moving to perform seconds-measurement functionality after a period of time without me pressing the bottom button to do it (it goes automatically to show the seconds again), is this behavior normal?
    Thanks a lot in advanced!

    • @simonthewatchguy6073
      @simonthewatchguy6073  3 роки тому +1

      Good question. That's normal behaviour. It assumes you don't want to use the chronometer and starts ticking again. The seconds hand ticks twice per second. When you finish using the chronograph, the seconds return back to exactly where they should be (they're still being counted in the background whilst you're timing something). Hope this helps!
