Nice video. Now, I've got a real challenge for you. How about a design for the Dallas North Texas suburbs? Our pH is around 8.0. Temperatures can fluctuate from around 105 in the summer to near 0 in the winter. We get a ton of rain in the spring and then nothing between 4th of July and Labor Day. The most common grass is Bermuda which goes dormant in the winter and also if it does not get enough water in the summer. Thanks.

Then step back and take a look. You’ll be able to tell what you think it is too big or too small. It’s different for everybody.
Saint Paul, Minnesota. Great video, as always. My comment is to consider adding, alongside the DIY vs. hire-out costs, what the ongoing maintenance costs would be DIY vs. hiring out that work. It would also be cool on the maintenance side to share TIME, not just dollars...warm seasons X design here would cost you 2-3 hours a month of keeping everything in shape, and about $200 in remulching per year. That sort of thing would be super helpful. I'm also curious how it works along driveways and sidewalks in snow season, if people accidently ruin their landscaping with their shovels/snow plows. I just know landscaping shifts and requires work, as I'm flashing back to awful memories of being a small girl having to help rebuild up the small rock landscaping. :-)
Hey, so I'm in Central California (near the village of Coarsegold, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains near Yosemite), and an avid follower even though your landscape designs are for a different climate zine. Hey Bobby! Love your videos! I started a landscape business here in Austin Tx. I've been sketching my designs, but would like to go digital. What program are you using in your videos? I'd like to try it out. Thanks! -CJ
Do you think you can make a video about landscaping for parkstrips (the small area of land between roads and sidewalks in a yard)? What would you do to make it maintenence-free and have the design tie into the design of the rest of the yard (especially for a corner lot)? I'm from the northern Utah area.
@@BobbyKDesigns I've been wanting to update the parkstrips by my place for quite some time (there's one front of the yard and another to the side). The strip to the side is on a slope and can make mowing difficult (plus obstacles like a fire hydrant and mailbox). I've thought about filling it with rocks and boulders (maybe a paver next to the mailbox), but I don't want it to standout differently from the yard. That then gave me an idea to incorporate some of those rocks by the house and other areas of the yard. If you like a challenge and want to use my place as an example, I can probably email you the address to see on Google maps or send you some pictures. I love the location, but the landscape could use some tlc!
From Columbus, Indiana. Another great video as always! My question is, for people who might want a large bed around their house but don't want to deal with plants in the ground for easier maintenance... what would be your recommendation? Large decorative stones, glass and metal art focal points?
Hey there! One thing I didn’t mention in this video is that just because you have large beds doesn’t mean they have to be full of plants. It would be ways to put in multiple focal points, and then just have lots of space for mulch or decorative stone as the filler. You can always add to those beds in the future. That way the cost is down and the maintenance.
