The USS Iowa was one of the fastest battleships ever made (along with her 3 sister ships) topping out at 33 knots (37 mph) laid down on August 27th 1940, and finished in 1942, she joined active service in 1943 as the lead ship of her class. Armed to the teeth with 3 Mark 7 16 inch triples and a whopping 10 Mark 28 5 inch doubles (and then 6 in her later 1984 refit). Her anti-aircraft armaments were a force to be reckoned with before and after the 84 refit, where she gained 4 Phalanx CIWS, capable of tracking and shooting down aircraft, missiles and in some instances other ships rounds. She became what is known as a missile battleship after her 84 refit armed with 32 Tomahawk Missiles, and 16 Harpoon Missiles, at the cost of 4 Mk 28 5 inch guns, a great trade off in modern combat.
Logistically she consumed ~1000 tons of food daily for her entire crew. and ammo replenishment is no joke either. She produced 212,000 shp in her 8 boilers and is the last lead battleship ever made in the US, where she got a scary reputation in WWII and during the Korean War

there was a thing (idk what from) wether the iowa could defeat the yamato, the iowa would be way faster, way more accurate but less powerful, but they were like 95% sure the iowa would kick the shit out of the yamato, (idk why i wanted to say it but you're the lucky recipient of this piece of useless information) have a nice day :)
@@kaiberuss You and wherever you got it from are entirely correct. The Iowa may have been smaller and less armored/gunned but it's guns and fire control and other systems make it far superior to the Yamato

Yup the aiming module on the Iowa had a 95% accuracy rate considering that its analog and made in the 1940s that's a very good piece of equipment.

Having been inside the class of ship that came before the Iowa's (South Dakota class) I can say that the game doesn't even begin to show the true scale of these ships. It's absolutely insane just how massive these things are and I highly recommend you go and check out the various Museum ships around the US if you get the chance. Iowa (in LA), Missouri (in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii), and New Jersey (guess where) are all still floating today. Alabama and Massachusetts of the south Dakota class are also both still floating in their respective states. All 5 have the big 16 inch guns, the smaller 5 inch guns, and dozens of AA mounts ranging from 40mm Bofors to 50cal machine guns.

You're not going to sink an Iowa class battleship unless you have a multitude of things coming after it at the same time.
You can with a Yamato class

@scpstudio1811 yes but it was also slow and had less rounds than an Iowa class. The Iowa was the fastest battleship ever built so it would control the battle. If it stayed at 36 km (wtf is a km) it would be able to hit the Yamamoto somewhat accurately amd get some penetrartion. American ships also had much better aiming systems as they used radar and men using binoculars to aim at enemy ships. The Japanese used just men. (Also I wish we could bring battleships. I wish I could fight in the pacific theater on the uss Iowa or the USS Enterprise. I would love to be a dauntless dive bomber pilot or a helldiver pilot or part of the crew on the front top main gun. I've been in the main guns of the uss Alabama and boy does it get hot but iwould love to do it. I even roleplayed with my brother a bit while inside.)

So awesome to see the namesake of the Hawkeye State represented in Stormworks. The real USS Iowa is now a museum in Los Angeles. Anyone with an Iowa Drivers License doesn't have to pay to go aboard.

I think realistically the weight from the gun turrets and ammo magazines near the bow (about 312,000 lbs for two turrets) of the battleship would have snapped in half somewhere between the superstructure and the farthest fore turret
Bro each barrel of iowa's gun with the breech are 133 us tons (267,904 lb) and there is 9 of those guns, one turret with all ammo will weight like a frigate also each iowa class BBs weight at 58,000 tons full load :v

Camodo, instead of turning the turret on one gun to go shoot an enemy on the other side you can just aim some guns to the right and some to the left so u can just switch guns when you hav to shoot an enemy on the other side

funfact: The iowa class battleship was the strongest fastest most heavilly armored and biggest battleship of america in WW2 and was the best battleship as it had good damage controll.
and in actuality the Iowa class battleship was extremelly fast for its class
By the way I do believe enemy vehicles do "pop" when you destroy them to reduce lag.

so you weren't actually in the bridge, the bridge is an armored cylinder right behind the forward main guns in that lower ovbservation area
the turrets with radars are called fire control directors, and should help with aiming the main guns
and there should be a gun plotting room with an artillery calculator
