I started walking 10k steps a day because I hate my life. I keep complaining but I didn’t do a single thing to change it. i keep repeating the cycle and go on about the routine that I hate. Then I was like, if I don’t change there’s no way everything will be different from now on so I started to go for an hour+ for walking after work. It’s been two weeks I still dislike my life and the city I’m living but i’m not as miserable as I was before. It sure does improve my mental health. Planning on doing it for 90 days straight. I’m tryna see what will happen physically and mentally.

For those complaining walking 10,000 steps is too much, skip to min 25 and start small, even if you go on a walk for 5 mins outside your place, take a note and celebrate your win for the day, next day same, until your energy is higher than your fuckn excuses. Note for myself, thanks! 🙏🏼

The rhythm of walking often sparks creativity and can significantly improve mood, as you've experienced. It’s wonderful to hear how this habit has positively impacted your life. Regular walks not only enhance physical health but also offer mental clarity and emotional balance. If you haven’t read his book, read it first before watching his videos. Not once has he contradicted himself - his mind, way of thinking. He is consistent with his audience because he is the product. Im sure he’s fully aware that his videos could get millions of views, but doesn’t give a crap, that’s not why he’s doing this. He wouldn’t say something if he didn’t truly believe in it. He’s encouraged people to prove him wrong, you won’t. Everything connects, doesn’t matter what he talks about. A video about a walking or any other topic he’s talked about is so consistent. This is intelligence - on another level.
You def need to be focused with his videos and write things down or take screenshots and so you can comeback to it. Makes it easy with the text. DEFINITELY read ‘The Art of Focus’ if you haven’t already. You’ll get so much more from his videos!

I’m 63, ive been walking an average of 15000 to 20000 steps a day for over 10 years. In Arizona. I get up 3:30 am every day, I have a morning nutrition and preparation routine before I walk to the gym. Weights for an hour then I walk to work and stand and move at work for 5 to 6 hours a day 6 days a week. Then I walk home when it’s the hottest part of the day. I feel better and have more energy now then I had when I was younger.

13:40 running definitely burns more calories in the same distance because your expending more energy. But the energy expenditure is what makes it not worth it, you can simply walk an extra 20% and get the same calorie loss without breaking a sweat.

the way Dan formulates his thoughts with such clarity and articulation is astounding. It’s like I can sit through an entire video, writing notes because i’m actually engaged with the content. Thanking the UA-cam algorithm x1000 right now, because this channel is life changing.
Not to mention, it’s all at no cost. The only thing standing in the way of one’s success is themselves, and an inability to accept the responsibility that comes with being exceptional. Like, it’s really hard work at first. I feel like it’s more forming a new mental program than anything else. On average a new habit formation takes 30 days..

I got into walking 20k steps a day last year. I would get 8k steps in at 5 am, then 8k at 5 pm and the additional steps during the normal course of the day. One month I had a goal to walk 300 miles. I walked the toe nails right off my feet! Besides losing 25 pounds in 6 weeks, the best unexpected result was it got my calves to grow. They went from skinny to slightly normal, to proportionate for my body type. Huge win for a guy who always hated wearting shorts.

Your commitment to walking is truly impressive! Incorporating such a rigorous routine, especially with your early morning and evening walks, shows incredible discipline and dedication. The physical transformations, like weight loss and improved muscle tone, are fantastic outcomes, but the mental and emotional benefits are equally significant. It's fascinating how something as simple as walking can lead to profound changes in our lives. Your story is a testament to the power of consistency and perseverance. Keep up the great work!

@@CibitiPro Thanks. I made it to my desired weight, so now I'm just doing my 8k steps at 5 am. I'll go several days in a row and listen to my body. If I get achy, I'll take a day off. One thing I did add is walking lunges for the last few hundred feet. I could barely do 10 the first time I tried. Now I shoot for 100 straight. Big gains in balance and coordination.

I recently had umbilical hernia surgery and walking was all I could do for exercise over the last month. Previously I regularly went to yoga, the gym (probably what caused the hernia) and a wide variety of outdoor sports.
I have to say, I totally agree with your observations with walking! I’m now hooked as well to walking outside everyday! I was walking (3x) morning, noonish and just before sunset. Breaking up my day this way has been a game changer for me. I do look forward to strategically lifting weights again, but walking while listening to valuable content or nothing at all has been far more valuable than sitting around scrolling aimlessly on social media. 💪🙌

I got into walkiing becasue it's slow... my mind is racing with things battling for attention, the world seems to be constantly racing to get somewhere and there's a lot of stress... but when I walk the madness goes away. I take things at my pace, I get fresh air and sunlight. My brain gets a chance to think, not to be overwhelmed, but to properly have time to consider what I realling feel and what actually matters. And if I'm lucky when I walking into a park for a while or at least get away from the traffic and sirens, I find nature. Maybe it just some flowers and insects or maybe it's birds or squirrels... and I get to remember how amazing the natural world is, how awesome it is to experience life. Walking is a primal thing that we should remember to do everyday. Peace guys, be happy, walk more :) x

I like to walk barefoot, on cement or ground, NOT asphalt (it’s not grounding and has toxins that you absorb through feet).
Added benefit. You have to take your time a bit more and be mindful of your walking. And there’s a transition period if you’re not used to it, due to using different physiology when walking.

Great video! It just made me think how far we’ve gone - to need systems for the simplest of things like walking, sleeping, talking to people, etc. It seems that this brings so much more stress into our lives since everything has to be conscious now, you have to get out of your way in order to live a normal life.
Compare this to our parents or grandparents who just lived their lives in the real world and this was just how it was by default for them. Imagine telling your grandfather that you need to gamify daily walks.

It's also a huge way of dominating one's local environment. Walking is the perfect speed to observe the environment while still being able effect that environment, skating and biking and will let you breeze by situations, but at the same time because of that speed you probably won't stop to observe or engage in the environment around you. Walking is a constant engagement with local environment.

Getting a treadmill has been a game changer for me. I’ve realized it wasn’t the walking I’m actually avoiding but that I don’t like walking around my neighborhood and I don’t like driving places just to go for a walk. Now that I can do it in my own home I’ve a been staying consistent.

Also, even more important, the more fluid and less robotic structure and talking made it a lot easier to follow the video! Hope the feedback gets to you, I think this is really an improvement

Waking is a also my source of inspiration. Don't listen too much while walking.

Thank you Dan. Your message here avout walking really resonates with what I’ve been looking for for a few weeks now to implement during my mornings. Will definitely dedicate myself to this habit for the rest of the month. Most likely I will continue this since it resonates as much as daily meditation and writing has done for me in the past.

    Some quotes that I liked:
All behavior starts with a conscious or unconscious goal. Every single action you take can be mapped to a goal you are pursuing. The question is, did you set that goal or were you quietly programmed by the media your parents your teachers and your friends?
You don't have to do anything you're doing if XYZ holds more important to you. (Insert whatever holistic habit into XYZ.)

I don’t particularly “love” walking, but it’s something that I do for mental and emotional reasons and it’s become a habit without me intending to do so. If I have the option to walk, I always choose it so I can be with Inner Me.
I have noticed that walking as early in the morning as possible for at least 15 mins. per day helps me feel more energized when I wake up in the morning. I don’t snooze or fall back asleep like I did before.
Walking has also helped me work thru any emotions that I couldn’t immediately bring back to neutral. Instead of sitting in all that energy I would bring it outside and let Nature absorb it :)

Walking helped me an immense ammount, I got great ideas during the walks. I did walk around 2 hours a day, averaging 15-16000 steps a day. 1 hour at 6 AM in the morning and I would walk in the evening before bed. Really this year I havent been walking enough and Im not in the shape I was a year ago. I did go today and enjoyed the walk so much. I feel like going on a walk in the town is way simplier than living in the countryside, but I feel like no excuse is good enough. I do prefer running when I am out town.
