I agree, but also many acrylic artists and doing a "teaching " video to share what they have learned. I am so totally grateful to these artists. This form of art, pouring, to me. I have been drawing, painting, pottery, photography, I find pouring exciting and love watching video's because I love to see their process and thoughts, it is very inspirational. So thank you once again! Pouring has pulled me out of depression, a dear friend taught me through text messages. My daughter said to check UA-cam and boom I was hook line and sinker! It gives me a way to Express my creativity. Thank you💗

Thanks for the advice. I’m getting ready to start my own channel. Literally everything I learned about pouring was on You Tube, watching artists like you, ATD, Molly, etc. My first videos put out will be versions of what I’ve learned. And I will always make sure to give credit where credit is due. So glad I found your business channel. You have a video for almost every question I have 😊😊

Kind of a funny story for ya....Two weeks ago I made some beach coasters with a bit of a twist that I found unique. Monday, an artist posted a video making the exact same ones. Mold, colors, method, etc. were all the same.
I might have just assumed that she copied my art and posted it as her own. Problem is....I haven’t posted a single pic of those coasters. And, Let’s be honest....there’s only so many variations one can do with beach coasters.
Lesson: I’ll have to check my ego and not just assume my work is being copied when I start my channel 😊

I agree. Thanks. We should always give credit to the artist that inspired use and post their link.

Thank you sooooo much for this! There is a certain Dutch artist (not Ann Marie) who totally took one of my resin concepts and gave me absolutely no credit. She claimed it to be her own. I love inspiring people and that’s why I do this. But this is NOT a competition. You will not steal or lose subscribers because we are all in the same pool. Like Marcy says GIVE A SHOUT OUT to your inspiration. Let’s help each other. Life is too short.

I LOVE to “borrow” the style of other artists! Say I see someone doing animals in watercolors using only 3 colors. I challenge myself to do the same. I don’t ever post these kinds of things online though. I wouldn’t dream of trying to sell them either. If something comes out really nice and really kinda different from what the original artist was doing I might share it with them. I’d message them to say “hey, look what you inspired me to do”.

I think it’s called the “ethics” of art. It’s just the right thing to do if you get inspired by another person’s work. It’s bad ethics to pretend you came up with it all on your own if you know that not to be true. Karma.

I believe in credit where credit is due. After so many years of doing it on your own I think then it can be just the way you learned. You are right on with this Marcy. Blessings.

I think that your ethics is another reason why I am so drawn to you. I am honest to a fault. Giving credit where credit is do, is being honest.

That is such great info. I first saw karen at waterfall acrylic say “no matter what give that artist credit “
I actually called one piece i did recently a Canadian Dutch pour because it was a cross between kanella and rinske douna. I should have used their names I agree I should be more specific. I really appreciate your information thank you.

I'm new to paint pouring and watch MANY videos of pours that turned out pretty, so I have a notebook full of notes I took of what colors where used in the pour --- do I have to give credit of my attempt at a pour using the same colors they did?

I have reached out to artists to ask if I can reference their art with credit and I do not get any response. Sadly, I can’t move on with my project because of this.
