I feel kinda bad for those stored dash 8s! But anyways 7868, 7774, 7807, 7799, 7786, 7787,( former Pam am dash 8s) 7655, 7727, 7835, and 7898 + 2 dash 9s which are 9025 and 9045! 7765 and 7792 might be reactivated to be put into mainline service soon but we’re gonna have to wait and see what happens, it is peak season for traffic so a few more dash 8s should go up to serve Pam am while the C40-8s are having issues!

What’s unbelievable is that CSX has continued to operate without all these locomotives! And this isn’t the only place they have them rusting away!

CSX definitely doesn't need to buy any new locomotives. Just upgrade these and they'll be good.

Most of this stuff has been here for years, especially those CW40-8's and the GP40-2/slug combos. They have plenty of 4 axle power

The fact that the new person got rid of the 6000s is just crazy. Atleast rebuild them like Union Pacific does with there 6000 series, and maybe put them back in their famous YN2 paint scheme

In the 50’s my father took me to a yard next to the Homestead steel mill outside of Pittsburgh. The yard was full of steam locos, mostly PRR, waiting to be scrapped. I was saddened at the beginning of the video to all the rusty units. Thank you for telling me that these are being rebuilt.

I still cant believe the person who was in charge of CSX back then in the 2000s was wanting to get rid of ac6000cw's while UP still uses the newer and older models.

TORC is part of csx in the same way Carilton RR (in Worthville, KY) is. Its a subsidiary of CSXT. TORC = Toledo Ore Railway Company (Some say the C stands for Chessie or CSX)

The only railroad that has AC60 or AC4460CWs is Union Pacific, im glad they didnt give them up yet...its always fun to see em leading with the awesom horn they have, but the CSX CW60ACs will be missed running the mainline unless CSX rebuilds them in the near future😢

I wonder if the rumors are true about the vast majority of the CSX AC6000CWs being scrapped? I know of the eight that were overhauled and painted in Erie RR colors for the Western New York and Pennsylvania RR which were returned to Wabtec because of a severe reduction in business. They, as well as the ALCOs, have been replaced by GP15s. The only other one that I know has survived is the one that was gutted and repurposed as Aberdeen, Carolina, and Western #87 and Is a glorified bar on wheels!

This equipment has long ago reached its full depreciation value and is now off or gone from the balance sheets. They're sitting there.
My impression is that CSX is more of a real estate development and insurance company than they are a railroad.
More reasons why this serviceable power is sitting.
These lines will only get longer once the Pan Am acquisition is fully approved by the STB get ready for a cobalt blue and charcoal grey of mostly EMDs head south and appear. 🚂

Where all are the deadline locations? You mention Waycross GA (obviously) and Huntington WV... anywhere else?
    I have a few units I am looking for, including 7767, 2437, and 4048.
Edit: 14:43 - well it looks like I found 7767! That unit broke down while hauling a loaded grain up the grade near my house. Caused quite the show as the crew doubled the train into the siding in town. That was early 2024 and I would guess that after that, it ended up here.

@@amessman The three mentioned are the primary big 3, though other yards have stored locomotives such as Cincinnati, Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee.

TORC is owned and operated by CSX, that unit was never in CSX colors to my knowledge. TORC was started under chessie I believe it was and they originally just added TORC underneath the chessie motors and when csx came they put them onto YN2 and then YN3 unlogoed with the torc lettering.

3:05 1550, GP15-1 I though they sold all these years ago
3:52 2452, SD38-2 one of five on the roster
3:54 2450, sister unit to the SD38-2 above. One of five.
5:43 again on the right the two SD38-2 dating back to the L&N
8:49 4318 GP39-2 Built as Reading, and then to the D&H.
10:30 TORC 999 TORC or TORCO is a 100% CSX owned subsidiary dating from the Chessie System era. It remains nominally independent despite 100% CSX ownership, it operates the Toledo Ore Docks. Hence TORCO
12:11 8757 SD60M Darn there is not many of these left... I think CSX is down to under 10 60 series.
    13:24 1515 GP15T along with two SD60M 8761 and 8767
    13:45 8406 SD40 rebuilt to SD40-2 long long ago, Originally C&O 7455
14:49 8464 SD40 rebuilt for CSX long long ago by MK. Originally Mopac 744
    18:26 another SD60M 8768
    In my opinion.
The 60s and Dash 8 and Dash 9s should have been retired 2 to 4 years ago.
The stored EMD SD70MACs all need to go to EMD for SD70IAC rebuilds.
All the other EMDs and SLUG should be kept for possible ECO rebuild.
