  • ‪@Chevrolet‬ reached out and asked if I'd like to get the new Silverado 2500HD ZR2 for a week to try out, use like it's my own, and see how I like it. Although there were no posting requirements to the deal, obviously they would prefer if I did, and of course I'm going to take all the free content I can get!
    We've been using this truck to do traffic control on some of the heavy duty recovery jobs with the ‪@zackliftinternational4841‬, used it for off roading in this video, used it for a small family trip and general daily driver, as well as towing my dump trailer around. I'm impressed so far, and it is no question the nicest truck I've ever driven.
    You'll still see it in a few more videos that were filmed before it had to be returned, but if ‪@Chevrolet‬ would like to make this a little longer term loan... I could definitely put this thing to work and get some good use out of it!

    The truck is truly difficult to appreciate from the videos but having been bailed out this weekend myself with it, I can attest that it's a real beast. However, the bigger machine is Casey. I was in a real pinch and up against it with time and despite calling AAA, asking locals if anyone would help me and calling on local professionals that didn't want to get out in the snow. Casey drove an hour one way and had my problem resolved in just a few minutes proving no job is too big or small for him to resolve. Thank you Casey for your time, knowledge and great attitude it getting things done with no excuses. You're simply the best!

      @@canadianwithabeard Full size trucks are extremely heavy & long, not ideal for going off road. I also remember when most things off-road were trucks, but it was because most people only had one off-road capable vehicle.... Everyone now seems to have many vehicles, I have no idea where they get their money. Also, Jeeps & such have gotten much better as dailies.

    As a retired GM tech I must say it's a beautiful truck, but for me to many options, on today's trucks where everything is managed by modules and ultimately the PCM a faulty dodad can leave you stranded, there's just something wrong about having to get your computer reflashed when you replace a seat cushion due to a failed heating element.

    • @paintlover70
      @paintlover70 4 місяці тому +14

      💯 agree.
      While all the bells and whistles are cool, they are just another component that has the potential to fail.
      Most people don't grasp that vehicles are dependent on computers now and once the computer becomes unhappy, the vehicle doesn't do what it's supposed to.
      What I don't like is that most home mechanics can't work in their own vehicle anymore, because of the computer.

      ALL of the truck manufactures make city slicker trucks. They are thin skined and it is possible to dent them by just leaning on them. Then there are these Fords. You could dent the truck bed by dropping an empty water bottle in the back!
      The wheel wells on that truck do not give you many options for taller wider tires.

      Just replaced all factory lug nuts on my Sierra. If you have the factory lug nuts that have the stainless steel covers on them, 3rd get rid of them. These little covers can strip leaving you stranded. Happened to a guy this weekend I recovered. We were able to get all but one lug nut off. Luckily, a neighbor close by had a grinder and I was able to cut that cover off. A 15 minute flat tire change in the middle of north bumscrew Egypt ended up being 2 hours.

    Chevy just got the best video footage of real world use of their truck having fun and play that they could ever ask for! And they received three expert opinions trusted by many others. They just got video gold! Professional production at that level would cost them about the same as the cost of the truck, so I think you can just keep the truck and remind them that you do have an underlift!!!

Looking at dealer inventory, $75,000 for partial match on features, over $96,000 for a best fit on features and options. Just outside my price range. Anyway, it is a great testimonial to the image and trust that people and business place in Casey LaDelle that Chevy just hands him so expensive a toy to play with for a week! Well deserved I say! :)

    I just started this, but if anyone can show its true use in real life situations, this channel should do that. That truck is designed for the conditions you get into especially the offroad ones. To bad its not the AEV addition. You could go over the rocks without issues.

      Its not a truck for the average Joe. Do you need 35s? Do you need "DSSV Spool Valve dampers"? Awesome stuff. But let's be real. If you want absolute top of the line everything... its going to be top of the line expensive.

      version is now LESS than most
      houses , so it works-out pretty
      well in the long run 😉 .

    GM finally gets it about making sure the air box is up high and has a water drain.
    Had an issue with the equinox awhile back where during heavy rain/spray on the highway the engine would start bogging down/fully chock out because the intake was just in front of the passenger side wheel.

    Those are nice trucks I 100% agree. And I agree that gm did not put a front locker in due to failure and destruction of the front diff.. how ever they do make selectable lockers aftermarket for them. And their are some upgrades that go with the locker function that bolt onto the diff housing.
    As well as the warning that comes with the locker ( accessive wheel spin may cause failure to front axle components)

    • @Bryan-Hensley
      @Bryan-Hensley 4 місяці тому

      You don't understand differentials. Lockers and limited slip are much more tougher than open differentials.

    • @wesshank3546
      @wesshank3546 4 місяці тому +2

      @Bryan-Hensley have you seen the diff housing on them trucks?
      And have you seen how they operate?
      Locking them front diffs up in the ifs cause the housing to twist in the mounts as well as the passenger side extention housing.. don't mater how tough you make the guts.. it's what holds the guts that's the problem.. that is why they have billet and steel bolt on upgrades for the front diff housing as well as upgraded bushings...

    I bought a 2021 Denali 3500 long bed duramax in May 2021, it has nearly 85k miles on it now. I haven't done any offroading near what you did in this video but for what I have done very capable. I have 0 complaints, I have only had 1 component failure and that is the camera in mounted by the rearview mirror that does the lane departure, intellibeam headlights and a couple other things went out in about 60 days of ownership.
    The 2021 duramax is only 445 hp and 910 ft/lbs not thinking I'm missing much from the slightly higher L5P.

    I have owed two GM products since 2007. A 2007 2500HD like that but Z71 Diesel. Had one problem with it during my ownership. Next is a 2016 Colorado 2.8l diesel also Z71. Nothing but DPF and electrical issues before it’s seen 50k. In fact it’s sitting in my driveway right now with the check engine light on again for probably the 10th or 11th time. Waiting for an opening at the local dealer.

    You and your channel are getting a lot of attention from the right people for a dealer to throw you the keys to a new very expensive truck and tell you to go for it. I have to admit that it preformed much better than I expected. All it needs is a front locker and tires. I'm a Chevy man but can no longer afford new ones. Hell I just bought one that was made in this century just a couple years ago!
