This is a great time to buy not only the reserved list but anything like ABU , arabian night -legends -antiquities.Its not that i dont enjoy revised cards but the print runs is so huge.I prefer having like 20camels in arabian night than having 1 revised Wheel of fortune.But thats my opinion.The key is diversify in those categories.

What would be awesome is to start putting modern cards into the reserve list. To hold the value of some of these products coming out.
I know a lot of people like to say that there are "572" cards in the reserved list. But read the official list and you'll discover one card is duplicated, differentiated by art (Plateau). So it's really only 571 different cards by name. This wouldn't be a big deal but there's more than one card that has multiple versions where the the art is different between them, albeit in dual decks, judge promos, etc., and they are not counted separately. Yeah, I'm being pedantic.
After taking a month off I'm working on stuff for my wife, so it's getting expensive fast as the main three sets that need attention are Unlimited, Arabian Nights, and Legends. So yeah, I'm buying as it's a buyers' market right now.
It really is a nice time to hit some fav cards

never bought into in, but love my vintage dual lands. I was there when WoTC reprinted crandles. I also bought 2 more for $150...the buddy has a PSA 10 cradle. You should not play this games expecting a return on investments. However, if the cards raise in value it;s a nice side hustle for playing the game. I am still a bargain shopper and waiting for the diamond valleys to drop, lol.

returns on investments will happen either way. was a player first before i realized these things might actually be my retirement fund. sure; you might have 20 moxes and 5 black lotuses. GREAT!. to a few that might be something to look at. but for many they'll just pass. i believe a person would rather have a ton of cards of all kinds ; with rares and mythics and basically just a giant collection you can immediately get into playing. thats just me though. but like i said. im not parting with my cards unless a very handsome offer is made; this is 20 years from now . mind you LOL
in the tolarian voice... MAAAAAAAAANY rookies; believe that once a card that was 40; like you say. then drops to 8 dollars; all believe it will stay at that price and go even lower. what actually happens; is that "lull" that people see and card isn't moving; suddenly starts moving back up and now its back at 40 or even higher; granted it takes about 3-5 years.

Over the last few months, Wheels, Braingeyser, and Copy Artifact have been my targets. Last week, I picked up a Copy Artifact in trade for a Mox Amber and two check lands from DMR. Hard to imagine losing on a deal like that. There’s insane value to be had right now.

Oh yeah copy artifact is such a great buy! Waaaay undercost at 2 cmc I picked up 8 copies just before brothers war! Of course I found out they were no longer 10 bucks haha but a great investment nonetheless.

While the reserved list is safe for now, I do not trust Chris Cocks and Cynthia Williams. They will do anything to make more money. You bring up some really good points in regards to buying some of the cheaper old Magic cards. Thanks for the video Mox Man.

Been picking up FaB singles from the first 3 sets recently. There is not nearly as much negativity as before the holidays. Things are looking up.
I buy what I like and do so when it's at a price I'm good with. Too hard for me to "time the market". My approach is I have no interest in the monetary value of my collection increasing; that's what the stock market is for. Collect what you want because you like it. If you wanna make money, much easier to click the "sell" button in your TFSA than find a buyer for higher end RL cards. Just my thoughts though.
Kudos for owning CE cards. I hope you can do a specific video on CE and discuss on how M30 has affected their value and what do you see in their future.

I buy the reserved list cards when I see one that fits in good with a deck and play it. You're right about duel lands being one of the entry cards people buy because it fits in nicely.
I've got a favorite I've been picking up now that it's down. I believe it's at least a $5 card if not more and I've been grabbing anything NM under $3 when I have a few extra bucks. Not exactly the most powerful card, but it has potential. And isn't potential what we're looking for?😁

It is beyond me why this sort of thing is not taught in school in this sort of approchable way. Yeah, this is good for buy magic cards. The process is also good for just about any investment.

Take it from someone who use to invest in reserve list cards.
Nothing wrong with it, but remember the more expensive the card....the fewer the amount of buyers and those guys all want a deal.
My suggestion...grab all the reserve list cards in and around 100-180$ dont go beyond unless YOU WANT TO COLLECT THAT CARD...this isnt a money making viable business. Just have fun

Why let the current owner/producer of MTG intellectual property/cards ruin the game for you? IMO, at the end of the day, I don’t grant them any power over how I play, so both Hasbro and WOTC are irrelevant. Hope this helps

After tons of reprints and a absolute dam buster of new cards that I think it is time to add cards to the reserved list again.
those new cards could also lead to RL cards getting broken and adding even more value
okay. they can start by putting in all companions on the reserved list; because they'll never get reprinted ever again. in any format. however; still legal to play though; because they are fun :)

@@MTGMOXMAN my commander group just buys proxies from printing companies at this point and plays whatever decks from whatever eras we want. Cardboard cards don't hold value to us anymore if we can't play the game with them.
Do you wake up and analyze the actual marketplace? Are you consistently talking to distros local game stores, the Magic artist proof market etc? Because if not; you are clearly speculating and your opinions are only based on your own private microcosm and play group. Magic has been of tremendous financial gain to people that know how to diversify. Just because the average person can't make a "quick buck" this year doesn't mean anything. I fact the absence of arbitrage means all the people who don't care about the game and were solely in it for the $ have quit. When people liquidate collections it means other people are buying...otherwise they would simply be collecting dust. This is a great opportunity for many people if they can buy some great cards during a dip. Keep doing you Moxman love the videos and love your positive attitude!
