Love how you ended it with a great meta joke that doesn’t have the cartoon character actually go “Oh I’m in a cartoon.” I like 4th wall jokes, but they have to fit the tone of the show and Bender having a small existential crisis is perfect.

Haven't watched the whole if it yet, so it might be there, but one of absolute favorite lines of all ten seasons, was when Bender was running from the fuzz with his little kid (he had with the soda dispenser at the office), and after following the river Bender went: "A dam! Damn! A grate! Great!" That's what you call good writing, absolutley top shizzit! Only makes me wonder how it got translated in other languages, surely couldn't top the original regardless of what their choice was

To add another layer to that joke, they dummies are references to Harry Harlow's experiments on Rhesus Monkeys.
(his most famous is probably the good old "Pit Of Despair"© but the one in this clip is the "Wire Mother"©)
He would put baby monkeys with 2 "mothers" made out of wires, but one of them was covered in comfy cloth (the "commitment one"), while the other was spiky (the "cans" one).
Unsurprisingly, the baby monkeys preferred to cuddle with the less spiky wire mother.
Extremely pointless experiment in hindsight, but back then they thought of monkeys as being as aliens as insects, and they didn't know if insects liked to cuddle either.
The positive result was that at least it shed light on how cruelly animals were treated in science experiments, and raised awareness on scientists randomly torturing animals just to see what would happen. Some of the first laws on science-experiments related animal cruelty were passed due to Harlow's horrific torture chambers.
