Tim Renwick has as well. He played with Roger on his 1984 Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking tour and of course on the Lapse of Reason and Division Bell tours.
Syd Barrett considerably influenced Pink Floyd as a band as well as David Gilmour and Roger Waters even when the last two (formerly mentioned) had "split." While Syd had become a recluse (was also schizophrenic), Pink Floyd continued with both Gilmour & Waters. Many confuse "Wish You Were Here" being about Syd when, in fact, "Shine On" was their tribute to Syd. (long story short: Syd entered their recording studio one day & no one recognized him due to his conditions). When Pink Floyd "split," their styles/ lyrics remained influenced by Syd. (i've studied them as a band via albums, various books and many interviews)
I give Roger so much credit for endurance. Still trying to wake the sheep that want to remain asleep, since the 1970's. Most in the audience still have absolutely no clue his music is about them, their dire situation. They will go to their grave just as dumb about what is really going on just like all their relatives before them. As lies, ignorance is passed on from generation to generation as the truth! Notice, not one mention in the comments about what the song 'SHEEP' is about. Only, I love Roger, I saw Pink Floyd, etc, meaningless nonsense!
I agree wholeheartedly. I was only 16 years old, when Animals came out. And even then, I knew what it was all about. And a few songs from Wish You were Here and Darkside of the Moon were as well. I probably figured those songs, because of the Animals album. Funny as you said, now Roger is in his 70s and I am 60. We were playing right along the same lines, all of the time :)
