Hi Dillon, loved the thread, very thought provoking. Music is made to make us smile. Totally agree on Funkintelechy, that is an album of joy and fun. Angry Records do make you Happy, Sex Pistols always makes me smile. Miles Davis puts me at peace along with some classical. Music soothes our soul. The album can be common, it is about how we relate to it. Great stories as always.
Thanks, I also love Pet Sounds and American Beauty. Also, Booker T and the MG’s - Universal Language . For Mental Health music, I love anything by Astrud Gilberto- especially Beach Samba or the Astrud Gilberto Album. Also, the Soft Machine Volume Two or Third. For drinking, I have a whole other list!
I have some Booker T and a whole playlist of Astrud. Good stuff. I have a whole shelve full of Bossa Nova (Brazilian, US, Italian, British, German). Bossa has to be the best mood music. beautiful stuff.
One that makes me feel good/ puts a smile on my face. Bobby McFerrin: Simple Pleasures. Just a dude and his voice. Don’t Worry, Be Happy ( song corny as father) 😊 but makes me smile.🤷♂️
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band is my go to album for ANY situation because even if I'm sad it picks me up and I feel better. And if I'm in a good mood then it makes my mood even better.

Can't stop watching your videos man - we have very similar tastes in music. Constantly filling up my wantlist on Discogs with new ideas after watching your videos too haha also - I used to have an old Ford explorer too and had RHCP Blood Sugar Sex Magik on heavy rotation (RHCP was my second concert, Stadium Arcadium tour 2006).
As I mentioned to another VC member, the most excitement we've had in my town in the past few weeks is that a black bear wandered into town. It was tranquilized and relocated. BTW, I find that 70's disco is great music to lift your spirits. Give it a try, spin your disco.
Hey Dillon, I'm a new fan, my mom got me a starter record player, I'd never spend a lot on a record and spin it on it. However, I've been watching your videos, and you've gotten me into some psych I've never heard before. I think you're a good dude and love your taste. I love a lot of different genres too. I'm big into noise rock and alternative country. My first loves were metal, punk , and grunge and I still love it. Thanks for what you do and how you do it. I've been watching since Xmas time.
Nice list but a couple I had problem with your American accent can you list them below video Axis 5* I have too many so choose to do a Top 10 for each year and being 66 i have 50 yrs to make videos about
I know I'm in the minority but l *LOATHE* the Beach Boys. The only song I can tolerate is "Sloop John B". The rest sounds like hot garbage and I just don't get it.
I remember being in High school coming home depressed in 10th grade and put in Mothers Milk into my Cd player. It really made me feel better, Especially the song Taste the Pain. That trumpet in it really relaxed me
Man, Dillon your content just turns my day around man! Love RHCP til the day I die. Love your music taste, and suggestions of new music in past videos.
No particular order, but here is the kinda stuff I'd put on to try to cheer me up a bit -- The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses. Happy Mondays - Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches. Thin Lizzy - Chinatown. Woody Guthrie (he gives me hope), or maybe even some Arlo. Guns n' Roses - Appetite for Destruction. Low Fidelity Allstars - How to Operate With a Blown Mind. Sultans of Ping - Casual Sex in the Cineplex ("Where's Me Jumper", what a fun song). The Frank and Walters, whatever album or EP suits me at that moment. Bob Marley - Babylon By Bus (but there's also other LPs of Bob's I'd could listen to in that mood). The Cure - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me They are by no means necessarily my favourite LPs at all. I don't really normally listen to music to really cheer me up. I'm just not looking to be that happy a person ! Actually at the moment I'm finding myself listening to - Dave "Black". Please... everybody should watch / listen to this amazing tune - ua-cam.com/video/mXLS2IzZSdg/v-deo.html KRS One "Sound of da Police" N.W.A. "Fuk Da Police" Almost any songs by Anti-Flag etc., etc. Racists Don't Love Music, Music is Multi-Cultural Anti-Racist, Anti-Sexist, Anti-Fascist
I’ll just say that Axis in stereo is definitely a more engaging experience but the reason the mono is so well loved by some is that the stereo can be a little exhausting. The benefit of the mono on this album is that you can just sorta relax and appreciate the songwriting and you also don’t have to be sitting in one spot to get the effect the songs can have. It’s a luxury secondary option in my mind because I do play this record all the time and I like to have that option.
When I'm down these are what help: Jewel "Pieces of You" "Room with a View" soundtrack Big Audio Dynamite "Tighten Up Vol. '88" Les Wampas "Simple et Tendre" Weezer's blue album The Lemonheads alternate 3 or 4 depending on mood Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive Marshall Crenshaw self titled 10,000 Maniacs "Our Time in Eden" Duran Duran "Rio" Kinks "Village Green Preservation Society" REM "Out of Time" Van Halen "Diver Down" Television "Live at the Old Waldorf" 6/29/78 Plastic Bertrand "Ca Plaine Pour Moi"

My list of albums that make me feel good would include: BEACH BOYS: Pet Sounds (Totally agree) THE ZOMBIES: Odessey and Oracle THE CHILLS: Submarine Bells (Martin Phillipps is the greatest song writers nobody's ever heard of... or the New Zealand Bob Pollard) MENOMENA: Friend and Foe DE LA SOUL: 3 Feet High and Rising KRAFTWERK: Autobahn XTC: English Settlement (Classic album from my generation's Beatles) THE DUKES OF STRATOSPHEAR: 25 O'Clock (speaking of XTC... has there ever been a better 60s album created in the 80s? Genius.) ROBERT POLLARD: From A Compound Eye (so many great songs!) THE WONDER STUFF: Eight-Legged Groove Machine (WHAT a debut!) THE SUGARPLASTIC: "Bang The World Is Round" (Can't keep a smile off my face when listening to this) ...and if that doesn't do the trick, just listen to France Gall doing "Laisse Tomber Les Filles"... which might be the happiest sounding song I've ever never, ever gotten sick of... ua-cam.com/video/3Qjlfy0uLIw/v-deo.html

Greetings from Gig Harbor, WA Great vid Dillion....thanks for posting. Axis: Bold As Love 👍. Great choice and I totally agree with your stereo vs mono comments....need the stereo for Hendrix! I’m glad you talked about some of the ones that were more sentimental for you....I agree, those are the ones that turn your day around and they are very personal.... For me, I would add the following sentimental choices.... Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks Neil Diamond - Moods Meatloaf - Bat Out Of Hell Loved most of your choices, with the exception of Pet Sounds - ugh....I’ve just never got that one....Ok, done with that. Love the videos....keep them coming!!
Nice video again. My album for relaxing is Lynyrd Skynyrd Second Helping or Self titled album by 70's aussie band The Dingoes. I hope once Australian borders open again I will get to NC and call into your shop, looked it up on website, looks like a comfortable shop, not cluttered. Like it. Enjoy the music.....
Anything by Townes. Notably “Our Mother the Mountain” or “High Low and In Between”, John Coltrane “A Love Supreme”, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott “Young Brigham”, Cracker “Kerosene Hat”.
Greetings from England. ( Just watching a documentry on Eric Clapton). Good pick- me-up is 'Walk Between The Raindrops' by Donald Fagin from. 'The Nightfly' album. Never fails. Take care now.
I just saw this and laughed. I've been listening to Bob Marley a lot lately too. Also revisited the first Rage release. I discovered a couple Bob tracks. Check out "Blackman Redemption" on Confrontation and "No More Trouble" on Catch a Fire. Topical and uplifting. Thanks for sharing your personal stuff. That can make you feel naked. But it's important to do that. I love listening to The Sundays, Neil Young's Harvest Moon, and Astral Weeks when I'm trying to shake something off.
For me Sacrifice by Black Widow is the ultimate feel good album. From the first note to the last it is an utter masterpiece with great musicianship and the lyrics are just hilarious. Other choices would be Arcadium's Breathe Awhile, T2's It'll all work out in boomland, Dragon s/t (Belgian group), Bodkin s/t, Incredible string band - hangmans daughter, Hawkwind - space ritual, and Fresh Maggots.
I can completely relate to your time in landscaping. I did that in the summer of '95 and the music I listened to on my walkman got me through mowing all the parks in the region. '95 was a hell of a year for music, too. I listened to a ton of Guided By Voices because the box set of their early albums was released along with Alien Lanes. I also listened to a bunch of Flaming Lips. I played everything they had released and then capped off the summer with Clouds Taste Metallic. The Amps' Pacer was another '95 staple.
good to see that we share some favorite up-lifting albums. Bon Iver s/t and Blood Sugar Sex Magik are big favorites of mine. a little Jason Mraz thrown in the mix doesn't hurt either lol.
BSSM is my bread n butter very sentimental to me too. RATM is also my bread n butter, I know that album word for word. So I Pearl In Jam I've also done commercial landscaping, pushed myself that hard carting wheelbarrows full of river stones that I strained the muscles around my larynx and lost my voice. The hardest work I've done for the least amount of money. Never again will I touch a shovel or pick or wheelbarrow, most soul destroying work I've ever done.
Great selection Dillon. There are far too many for me to choose but the best of Motown, Chicago 2, Love, any RUSH or The Guess Who albums and any of The Who as well. Peace to everyone.
Any thing by Blossoms, The Beatles, Stray cats, ABBA, Buddy Holly, Grease and George Ezra does it for me. I have a happy playlist which have a lot of these artist in it with also some other songs like lion in the morning sun and jailhouse rock.
Love this vid, Dillon! Your passion for music and vinyl is so awesome, but I totally get it. Just got Hendrix “live at winterland” 2xLP set in the mail today, and it’s so killer. I also love any RHCP up to BSSM (got a German press), and own all 1st pressings of their albums up to that one. I’ve got a mono press of Axis, but NEED the stereo UHQR copy! D’you happen to have an extra? I’ve got some pretty rare records I could trade. 😉 My happy music is Pixies, Bad Brains, Morphine, The Dead, MM Bosstones, Coltrane, Hendrix, and a few more.
Being a big Who fan usually one of those or Pete Townshend album can change my mood. Screaming with songs while driving is good too. 1. The Who Quadrophenia 2. Arc Angels self titled 3. Beatles Revolver 4. Sam Cooke The Best of Sam Cooke 5. Genesis self titled 6. Billy Joel The Stranger 7. Van Halen self titled 8. The Smithereens Green Thoughts 9. Squeeze Argybargy 10. Stone Temple Pilots Purple Some of my picks but not all on vinyl.
Hi, Rick from the Netherlands here, enjoy a lot of what you showed; hint for a good feeling from the lowlands: Bettie Serveert - Palomine, always makes my day, you gonna love it
Hello Dillon, I picked up Bugs Henderson and Ice both are fantastic albums Thank you for telling us about them also I remember when Chris (Tunefromthemancave) got that Jimi Hendrix box set haha good old days.

Byrds- Younger Than Yesterday (minus Mind Garden) Rockin' Horse- Yes It Is Kinks- Face to Face/Something Else Fourmyula- Green B Holiday Mary McCaslin- Goodnight Everybody Beach Boys- Surf's Up Scott Walker- Aloner (Scott in UK)
Pretty much anything by the Beatles cheers me up.
This video made me feel good and put a smile on my face. Great albums.
Yep,
Pet Sounds is the official antidote to depressing. One note from any song from this record and you are in heaven. God Only Knows where we would be without the Beach Boys and our
favorite music.
I find it the opposite. It's Brian Wilson losing his grip and the lyrics and arrangements reflect that.
Paul Simon - Graceland always puts me in a good mood.
I don't consider myself to be a Paul Simon fan but that album is fantastic
Great List. My spontaneous list would be
Neil Young - Rust Never sleeps

They are by no means necessarily my favourite LPs at all. I don't really normally listen to music to really cheer me up. I'm just not looking to be that happy a person !
Actually at the moment I'm finding myself listening to -
Dave "Black". Please... everybody should watch / listen to this amazing tune - ua-cam.com/video/mXLS2IzZSdg/v-deo.html
KRS One "Sound of da Police"
N.W.A. "Fuk Da Police"
Almost any songs by Anti-Flag
etc., etc.
Racists Don't Love Music, Music is Multi-Cultural
Anti-Racist, Anti-Sexist, Anti-Fascist
Great to see the Franks and the Sultans het mentioned. Love the Franks!! I guess that you’re also/were Cork based
My copy of VS. arrives today. Can’t wait to spin that one. Great stuff, Dillon! ❤️
It’s a luxury secondary option in my mind because I do play this record all the time and I like to have that option.
not crazy... BSSM is an excellent album.
I just found The Zombies. Odessey and Oracle 1968. Love this album. Just a feel good pop album from that time
I found about them about two months ago through a Noble Records video. Holy crap it’s fantastic!!
Cross Canadian Ragweed, Sons Of Bill, Jason Boland & The Stragglers

Greetings from Gig Harbor, WA
Great vid Dillion....thanks for posting.
Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks
Neil Diamond - Moods
Meatloaf - Bat Out Of Hell
Loved most of your choices, with the exception of Pet Sounds - ugh....I’ve just never got that one....Ok, done with that.
The point! -Harry Nilsson
Other choices would be Arcadium's Breathe Awhile, T2's It'll all work out in boomland, Dragon s/t (Belgian group), Bodkin s/t, Incredible string band - hangmans daughter, Hawkwind - space ritual, and Fresh Maggots.
two of my 'go to' feelgood albums: Respect (Robyn Hitchcock) & Man From Utopia (Zappa)
I agree with the RHCP album!
So I Pearl In Jam
I've also done commercial landscaping, pushed myself that hard carting wheelbarrows full of river stones that I strained the muscles around my larynx and lost my voice.
My happy music is Pixies, Bad Brains, Morphine, The Dead, MM Bosstones, Coltrane, Hendrix, and a few more.
Babylon by Bus is my personal favorite live Bob Marley album
Yeah that one is killer too
Loved Hendrix too but it was Are You Experienced, especially "Manic Depression" over and over and over....
Thank you Dylan. THis was a great video and idea. I am going to post my list as a reply cause why not spread something good right now
Love the Jason Mraz album!!! He’s from my city great video!!!
Thanks for sharing these picks. I think the stories really make the records special.
TB

Hi, Rick from the Netherlands here, enjoy a lot of what you showed; hint for a good feeling from the lowlands: Bettie Serveert - Palomine, always makes my day, you gonna love it
I gotta ask, are the UHQR recordings so much better than a MoFi or regular copy to justify the higher cost?
Just listening to this video put a smile on my face - thanks. My go to song is on the Cyrcle Red Rubber Ball album - Wish you were here.
