I am always in awe when I hear Judy sing. What a voice, what a voice. She sang with an incredibly beautiful and powerful voice in the early 60's when she was very young and her voice is still incredibly beautiful all these decades and decades later. She was given this amazing voice; was gifted this at birth for such a talent.
This is the song that Judy Collins was meant to write. It's a song for everyone who's ever been dumped, ever been in tears, and then finally one morning woke up and there were no more tears, and you knew that there wouldn't be, and you knew that you could go on.
I first heard her music here in Ethiopia back the early 90s. Loved her voice so much. And of course the message she conveyed. There were no CDs. I heard the music on just normal cassettes. Thank you Judy.
Listen daily to her music..my late husband & I met her several times backstage @SPAC Saratoga, NY...this song among his favorites..he would play her music whenever he would paint a new picture...inspired his artistic talent in creating a wonderful one that he gave as gifts..just an amature...truly adored Judy and her music..during his last days he listened to her music on a regular basis...gave him comfort...truly voice of an angel..
My son and his family live in Colorado and I love, love Judy Collins. This song is beautiful and has such a pretty melody. The piano as she plays it is marvelous. Thank you, Judy, for many wonderful moments in my life. I'm reading Sweet Judy Blue Eyes now on my Droid and am so in awe of her talent and humanity!
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful song and vid. Thank you to my Mom. I miss her more and more when I hear this song. Judy's voice comforts me every time I hear her sing.
Thanks for this one too. It's a beautiful haunting song. Where are the shows like these nowadays? And particularly good to see Judy returning to the piano as well.
You know, I've listened to the other YT vids of this song, and I still think this is the best. I think it's because she had recently recorded it, and had to practice quite a bit to combine live voice and piano to meet her impeccable standards. Also, the other versions are over-arranged, with artificial synth sounds. This one is all Judy. Straight from her heart to mine -- and yours.
Ahh to see you live and to meet her as I did a lovely lady this song is haunting and takes me home to new england when it snows. Thank you for this song mel
A stunning live performance which could only be accomplished by a master. Often four voices sound at the same time (3 in the piano), each with its own distinct shape and phrasing. The volume of each note in each voice is carefully and separately controlled to create a sparkling mosaic. Many musicians can record separate tracks and patch them together effectively. Very few can carry off this kind of live performance with this kind of accompaniment -- which was written by her, by the way. Why would she set herself such a difficult task? Nice job, Judy!

We saw her perform this live at a venue in Littleton. The most amazing and beautiful song. Thank you Judy.

There's something so hauntingly beautiful about this very simple narrative.
This song is totally captivating and has become one of our favorite winter/Christmas songs to curl up with a cup of cocoa...simply beautiful.
I've lost count of how many times I have seen Judy perform. My favorite has always been "Someday Soon" - but when she wrote this one, WOW!

I was so lucky to see her live this February before we were robbed of normality.

Superb!
good enough to hear again?
I always feel this story could be acted out by an Am Dram group. Three characters, one set and a few effects off. Any takers?
