"Gigue" from J.S. Bach's Cello Suite 2 Performed on solo marimba by Eric Scherer University of Central Arkansas 2014 www.acifinnetwo... www.ericscherer...
Very cool, and expertly executed. My roommate in College performed the Bach Violin Concerti on marimba, and I was his accompanist. My husband is a graduate of Arkansas U, Fayetteville, Keep the culture flowing..........
I think it's great that Bach can be played on instruments he had probably never heard of , but which I am sure he would have enjoyed hearing. Visually very entertaining as well as the sound - looks like good exercise! The instrument is becoming more popular, and marimbas of different pitches as an orchestra with percussion sound fantastic, so thanks very much for sharing, you play very well indeed. keep it coming!.
Always great work, the first time I heard you do your touching Glass piece for you unfortunate friend "For Jock" I've been a fan and have been wowed but never disappointed. Keep up the good work and maybe surprise us with a CD.
I enjoyed the cello suite out of all the pieces. I cannot play, but do my best with kids. Congratulations in sticking with a largely unrecognised instrument. Graham,
perfect interpretation!! the advantage of your instrument: no (unnatural) vibrato, sustain just acceptable. he disadvantage: you can not adjust the temperament (the distances between the notes are fixed at the equal temperament, i think) as a good cellist can or the harpsichordist can realize by special tunings to give different keys their own character. kindest regards - S.
Zach Strickland Theres a few places. Its in open domain so you can find it online for free but you can also get it from www.steveweissmusic.com in the Steven cello suite book or any other. Thanks for watching!
