There are many Software Engineering openings...Thousands I'll add but the problem comes in because there are below average software engineers all over...Most people think once they know a programming language and built a mini software that's it...Before a company hires you they'll need to know that you are in your A game and this includes having a very strong Portfolio(Impressive Personal Projects)..Then another problem comes here some people may have personal projects,know how to code but their knowledge of Data Structures & Algorithms is weak and therefore they can't pass the interview process in tech companies..In 2020 and 2021 it was possible to get a job without knowledge of this due to Covid but ever since the economy opened up,currently without this getting even just a mere internship will be a dream!... So to get a job boils down at knowing what to do and when to do!

No because the software engineering offered in school is outdated is slightly different from what you'll find in the industry - it's a field which rapidly changes and requires you to be continuously studying and applying your skills.
