I wondered if there was a general mathematical formula showing the relatinship between the variables, so I worked it out and, other viewers can plug in their own values, if anyone else is curious: I = { (PMT×12​) / ri } × { (rs/12) / { ([1+ (rs/12)] ^ 12n) -1) } Variables and Notations S: Current net monthly salary I: Monthly savings rs​: Annual interest rate during the savings phase (as a decimal) ri​: Annual interest rate during the investment phase (as a decimal) n: Number of years saving P: Principal amount accumulated after n years PMT: Monthly passive income needed after n years Using the example in the video: - Monthly salary S=Kes. 50,000 - Monthly savings I=Kes. 40,000 - Savings interest rate rs=12% or 0.12 - Investment interest rate ri=17 or 0.17 - Number of years n=5 - Desired monthly passive income PMT=Kes. 50,000
