...Good presentation and answers my question regarding film winding on the EL, and also the function lever, which other videos do not explain. Thanks for the video....
I have had a 500CM for 30 years but have always wanted an ELM. They can be had now for $350 (just the camera, no focusing screen or prism) in excellent condition. I may take the plunge!
Hi, I have an Hasselblad 500 EL/M without any lens. Can you suggest me what kind of lens could I buy? just for collection. I see that Carl Zeiss Planar could go with this camera, is it right?
Someone gave me a 500 EL/M body. I got a battery, borrowed a lens and film back, but when I turn the switch from L to O, the motor just whirrs continuously. Setting the drive mode switch to S or SR or even A does not change things. Does it need to be loaded with film to operate correctly? Also, the mirror stays up.
+Chris Protopapas There wasn't any film in the back when I made this video, so that shouldn't be a factor. I have not had this problem so I have no experience on your issue to share. If I was serious about using it, I would have it serviced and let them know what its doing.
+The Green Photographer Thanks. I took it half apart with the help of the online repair manual, and got it working. It probably will need a CLA anyway, it's a 1976 model that has not been used in almost 20 years.
Great video! Thx for sharing. I own a 501CM. Been thinking to buy an EL / system recently as my 2nd, although been hearing lots of comments about the weight but I just love how it's designed and the functionality :-) I know that the fuse (made by Hasselblad) for this camera has been discontinued. Is it easy to get the replacement for the fuse?
Hey there, thanks for posting this video. I'm in the market for one of these, and I found one in excellent condition. I've heard the usual rumors that the battery pack can give out on you, and since this camera isn't completely mechanical, then it could fail one day and that's it. What do you say? If it's in excellent condition, and at a very good price, should I go for it?
+Marlon Correa These cameras were built to last but they do need serviced.$$$$ No matter what the appearance may be, if I am depending on the camera, I would have it serviced. If I just want to explore and its a great price, I would go for it. There may be bodies available from David Odess... He is on the web. I had a 500c/m serviced with 2 lenses and it cost 800 dollars plus.....
Be careful if you use the original older batteries, the other day I opened the battery cover on the camera and the battery exploded in my face. I think I might have over-charged the battery.
I have one, Jammed on me :(((.... because the electrics crapped out, can't even use the battery. MUST STRESS get the 500 C/M v series body!!! got caught out with this one, as was second hand when I bought it!!- old style electrics so NOT same as modern DSLR's
One of the best Hasselblad 500EL/M videos I have ever seen. Thank You Billions...
Short, sweet, and very useful video manual.
Thanks!

That's a lovely camera. Thanks for the talk through.
Thank You....

@0:25 and 1:18 Do you need both 9V batteries?
Mine came with only 1x 9V battery with adapter and seems to run just fine.
There's no electronics in the thing, and T is for time (time exposure) not timer. It's so's long exposures don't drain the batt.
Thanks for the helpful information and thumbs up
Are these batteries rechargeable? Does the user need the batteries to operate the camera or can it be operated with just a power cord?
The original batteries are rechargeable, they did make a setup for it to run off of a power adapter....

As far as know you can't.. Sounds like it may just need serviced...

No, It is one unit....
