there needs to be a women’s version soon! Seeing how the women do Cyclo-cross these days, it can be done at Paris Roubaix too! (I absolutely love the cyclosportive the day before the pro race, one big adrenaline rush!)
SURE, BUT it needs to be voluntary. UCI CANNOT FORCE teams to submit a full team roster HERE. do not force these dainty mountain beauties to ride those rocky trails - the early dnf's would ruin the headlines
I love the stories of races like this, but to be honest I'd rather drop dead than attempt this race....maybe it's because i'm 51 and have to accept that life and age prevent me from even dreaming of being competitive....I just read the wikipedia page on the 1896 race and if the facts and my math are correct, it was won at an average speed of 30 km'h....on 1896 roads and 1896 bikes....makes me want to quit riding and get a wheelchair...
@@greenpedal370 well man just don't watch it I for one enjoyed very much didn't really noticed until you mentioned it. too bad this editing of decades-old footage isn't suited for your viewing pleasure 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is a stellar little slice of history, thank you!
Awesome footage, congrats to the film researchers and editors who've made this short gem.
They made it over 20 years ago, this seems to have been recorded in like 1996 or so.
My favorite one-day race---Paris-Roubaix.
I agree with You.
I get up at 2:30am just to watch it unfold. Hopefully some rain this year.
Tom Boonen
Awesome video...very interesting
I find the commentator's voice similar to Paul Sherwen.
Correct! Paul Sherwen and Phil Liggett voiced this show back in 1996
hope he gets his Royalties.

Cool.
WOW, nothing about Museeuw, Boonen or Cancellara?
I miss Paul.
This is just a trailer for the real thing, right?

That blurred split screen made it unwatchable.
What do you mean?
It's better than the black bars you would get if they didn't do it.
@@maxsungwd No it's not.

It's so poignant to hear the late great Paul Sherwen.
nothing about Tom Boonen...
The video is from before he was even a pro!
