I can tell you right away what that would look like. Jeep Wrangler is best off road but worst on road, and surprisingly expensive. Defender is best on road but the articulation is hurt by the independent suspension all around and of course has the worst reliability of the 3. Bronco is best overall value as it has Sasquatch package in any trim and offers better articulation than the defender but better ride quality than the jeep and probably the best reliability of the three.
I’m curious to see how the fiberboard underbody protection does after repeated high centering. Without the extra lift of the air suspension critical components would seem to be vulnerable to damage. Please put the D90 on a lift to show us what is protected by steel and what only has fiberboard covering it.

Had a 2020 D240 First Edition 110 that was very good even on the pretty crap Goodyear Duratracs on 20” alloys. Took delivery of a D250 6cylinder diesel 90 HSE with the Offroad, Air Suspension and towing packs so I have the rear locker, in March 2023. It’s so much better built than my 2020 car. Having owned an unmodified 1996 90 TDi300 SW for 26 years that was my offroad toy, in August 2022 I sold it, heartbroken but…………. The new one is sooooooo much nicer to use offroad and my 110 was down and dirty within 2 weeks of delivery and the new 90 was one week after delivery. Love the offroad ride of the new 90 with air suspension although twice I’ve lowered it to access height offroad and then forgotten to raise it back to offroad height come pull away, fortunately no damage done despite some frightening scraping noises coming from underneath. One really annoying “feature” though that has been common to both 110 and 90 is that it resets the TR program in use back to “Comfort” if you switch off the engine and then restart, cannot understand why as none of my Range Rover L322’s or Range Rover Sports did it. If you own a pre-2024MY L663 Defender 90 or 130 there is now a raised boot floor modification part number LR 19008 Storage box that gives a flat boot floor with the rear seats folded but is also where I am able to stow most of my recovery straps etc and still have somewhere to put the shopping when I’m in town driving mode - which I rarely use my Defender for as I also have a new electric Mini Countryman Sport for those jobs instead of embarrassing all the school run mummies in their Defenders with my mud all over it 90!

That trail required being in "gravel mode". I don't remember what mode you selected. I have a LR 110 and traveled through a similar trail. I was impressed with the programming in gravel mode. It allowed for some slippage but it maintained forward momentum and kept a straight line. But then, mine does have a rear locker.
@@jerroldshelton9367this particular Defender is not on air suspension, so it’s just coil springs in the back and a strut in the front, so a traditional lift kit would work. Not much different than a 4Runner or bronco, just independent suspension all around.

But I like the Defender you guys drove and I agree that the 4 cylinder is more than enough for off road use as the front end is lighter for better control. Colorado is so beautiful but I am in the Nevada Desert and explore old abandoned mines. Thanks for a great review on the Defender
The L663 Defenders come in two wheelbases the 90 and110. actually, the 110 and 130 have the same wheelbase with the 130 having a longer rear overhang and worse departure angle than the 110 and 90.
😀 by the time you unravel that mess of hoses to air down and then wind it back up you could have done it one at a time with regular compressor and air gauge. Ask me how I know.
...Or person who sold the Defender is because they wanted the 110 6 cylinder model. The 2 door 4 cylinder is a great entry but you soon realize you want more.
They are cool vehicles and are quite capable, but, as Andrew St. Pierre White wisely pointed out, it would be foolish to try to take any of these - 90, 110, 130 - on a proper, grueling expedition because of the quirks of the computer. Apparently, according to him, if the doors are opened and closed with any degree of quick succession (like when you’re hopping in and out to look at terrain), the computer will shut everything down and you can’t re-start them. They are cool for local off-roading though.
Really? Three years on my 110 and the door gremlin has not reared its head. Have no idea what you’re talking about. I even just went and opened and closed my door a dozen times for fun. Still ticking.

Just wonderful, right after we just succeeded in shaming our fellow Jeepers into ditching the angry headlight look, along comes Land Rover to bake it in at the factory. Not bad if you can get it for $40k, but what does adding lockers and a 3" lift cost? And what's the long term reliability of the drivetrain? So far I haven't been that impressed with small turbo motors for off roading.
Excited for the videos of this one. Love the 2 door in this configuration with the white top and white wheels. I have a '23 110 Defender S with the 4 cylinder. I've had for a year and about 11K miles. I've had a couple of cosmetic issues but zero mechanical problems. I also think the 4 cyl does pretty well on the daily. curious to see what you guys think in the mountains.
At least you’re on 18’s this time and not trying to air down on 20’s. All that did was guarantee a pinch flat and give the engineers at LR heartburn. You’re probably still pushing it going down below 30 on those. Still not a ton of sidewall.
I love the 2-door, and I would surely option my with coils, but without crosslinked air and with 4 wheel ind. suspension...its not going to even be a flexible thing. Maybe if you could find some taller, softer coils and remove both sway bars.
Hey guys great video, so I have an idea since the winter is coming why don't you guys transform one of the off-road rigs that TFL ownes to handle any kind of snow for the coming season, that would be great video series.
Sure are a lot of haters that have probably never owned a Land Rover. I’ve got a new 110 and a 24’ 2dr Wrangler. (6th Jeep) Both are awesome. The Defender is great for ski trips, beach running and dirt roads. Not rock crawling! The Wrangler can do it all and is more fun to drive with good power and a short wheelbase. The Defender makes short trips out of long ones.
I do like the new Defender, but (IMO) it only works in the blue/green base spec, especially with the white wheels like this model. The more "sporty" trims look awful. Not sure who Land Rover are trying to kid though, it's not really a new Defender, it's a new Discovery.
7 years or 70,000 miles until first dirt? Heyzoos. My '24 Colorado ZR2 (bought March 16th) saw first dirt/mud/snow inside of the first 200 MILES in the first 2 days, and I took it to Moab for 3-1/2 full days of wheeling with 750 miles on it a couple weeks after that. I have 8,500+ miles on it now with another 1-1/2 solid days in Moab at the end of my 3,700 miles in 11 days trip up to Glacier Nat'l Park and back. Man, talk about the ultimate "Mall Crawler"...🤣🤣
300 HP turbo 4 would work fine. 2 door looks cool. Basic model would be my choice, with more miles in a few years in the $30K range. Probably get a Bronco or 4Runner for even less with more reliability.
Any chance we can get Alex to drag race his 2 dr Wrangler against the 2 dr Defender! I am very curious how the P300 performs compared to its competitors.

I’m gonna say this tommy gives ceo vibes so powerful . Absolutely wholesome vlog. So chill Kase. You are absolutely incredible bro. I can’t be more proud more thankful. And beyond blessed your at this company and family
The short answer to the question you have asked, is no.A very expensive vehicle, with low ride quality, poor clearance and questionable reliability ( at best): no thank you. Please give us the the real defender back!
I used to think the same thing, now having owned both a 2dr Bronco and now a 2dr 90 defender. The Defender is a little wider, maybe even slightly longer. But the biggest difference between them is the Defender is unibody and the Bronco is body on frame. I used to think just based on looks that they likely shared the same platform, but definitely not the case. Overall they are direct competitors, I think the Defender with its solid no detachable roof, makes for a much much quieter more refined interior. I think the 2 door Bronco being body on frame and setting up a higher, has a tighter turning radius then the 2 dr defender 90. Not huge difference but I have noticed that there is a difference, when parking in some the same tight spaces with them both, the Bronco felt a little bit more nibble, maybe because it is slightly smaller, but mainly due to that tighter turning radius. But out on the open road especially at 75-80mph interstate speeds, the Defender is extremely smooth, quiet and comfortable , and very stable compared to the 2 dr Bronco.
The new TFL P300 90 Defender looks right at home on the Colorado backroads.

At least you’re on 18’s this time and not trying to air down on 20’s. All that did was guarantee a pinch flat and give the engineers at LR heartburn. You’re probably still pushing it going down below 30 on those. Still not a ton of sidewall.
Hey Tommy, you guys need to take that to Moab and run through the rock crawl and do the desert thing that would be cool to see😊
I love the 2-door, and I would surely option my with coils, but without crosslinked air and with 4 wheel ind. suspension...its not going to even be a flexible thing. Maybe if you could find some taller, softer coils and remove both sway bars.
Anything would shine on that easy trail.
Hey guys great video, so I have an idea since the winter is coming why don't you guys transform one of the off-road rigs that TFL ownes to handle any kind of snow for the coming season, that would be great video series.
i like the little defender like that one.
Nice video, nice vehicle, nice, scenic trail.
More used and affordable full size pickups with mild modifications off road please 🙏🏻
The name of the plate on the Hood/Bonnet is called Chercker Plate.
ya guys do Black BEAR PASS IN THIS 90 defender.. I want one ..
The check engine light has probably failed.
That's an interesting statistic on first time off road. With Ineos it's usually under miles😂 under 40 for me😊
If they would have put that same body on a frame with straight axles…
Sure are a lot of haters that have probably never owned a Land Rover. I’ve got a new 110 and a 24’ 2dr Wrangler. (6th Jeep) Both are awesome. The Defender is great for ski trips, beach running and dirt roads. Not rock crawling! The Wrangler can do it all and is more fun to drive with good power and a short wheelbase. The Defender makes short trips out of long ones.
Love the Defender, but the I6 is the engine of choice for me.
It is also 200 pounds heavier.
I do like the new Defender, but (IMO) it only works in the blue/green base spec, especially with the white wheels like this model. The more "sporty" trims look awful. Not sure who Land Rover are trying to kid though, it's not really a new Defender, it's a new Discovery.
Is Tommy saying “ciao” now?
Would a 2 inch lift kit improve it off road?
13:26 Wow
Bring it on, Red Cone.
Tommy and Case taking over from Roman and Nathan.
The channel
Is in good hands.
Just need a new Andre. Maybe a German 😬
300 HP turbo 4 would work fine. 2 door looks cool. Basic model would be my choice, with more miles in a few years in the $30K range. Probably get a Bronco or 4Runner for even less with more reliability.
a few years... make it over 5 years
The lack of articulation is crazy. Impressive traction control though.
Articulation with air suspension is way better, only a $ 1600,- option for comfort and ground clearance
Any chance we can get Alex to drag race his 2 dr Wrangler against the 2 dr Defender! I am very curious how the P300 performs compared to its competitors.
It’s absolutely phenomenal how tommy has grown as a leader and a Land Rover owner lol 😂. And he does not curse on the trails now. Iykyk. He’s more in control of everything. You can see it he is so calm and confident now He airs down even how he drives is more relaxed. Also brother kase. Is by his side this time to help and guide and everything. I’m gonna say this tommy gives ceo vibes so powerful . Absolutely wholesome vlog. So chill Kase. You are absolutely incredible bro. I can’t be more proud more thankful. And beyond blessed your at this company and family
Andre wrote that.
I rather get a jeep and I’m a Toyota guy
is there anything new about it since the one you guys really maligned a few years back? Other than it being a 2 door version?
Shorter wheelbase.
Better to smell like the inside of a tire than the outside.
Third time's a charm, right?
The short answer to the question you have asked, is no.A very expensive vehicle, with low ride quality, poor clearance and questionable reliability ( at best): no thank you. Please give us the the real defender back!
Ive watched plenty of videos that show this defender popping side walls even with the air pressure reduced.
Sounds like tire issues not Defender issues
I think you will find that they were on 20-inch rims not 18-inch rims.
Land Rover deFUNDer.
Very capable vehicle
It is a Bronco look at it they changed the grill and a few things but it is a Bronco
@@jdfleetguy28 nice to know, thanks for the info
Compare the defender to a 2 door Sasquatch Bronco.
The ground clearance is terrible when there on springs
It would be interesting to see it in the mud.
