The lead singer perfection ❤️🔥
Damn this is just so electric. Brenda's fierce vocal, those tight, crystal-clear harmonies, and that band. Can't get much better than this.
we need this type of music to come back
The lead singer is everything. And the rest of the group is so freaking rhythmic and on point with their harmonies!!!!!
Rest in peace Lillian Walker-Moss 🙏 😢
Great song, great performance! So good to have live footage of that era.
I never thought I'd hear this live!!!!!!!!!!
Where has the time gone. Thank you, God, for letting me live through the greatest period of music the world has ever known.
So true. Well said!
I agree! Now, not only do we get to hear this great music, we get to see performances we never did when we growing up! 😄. Thank you, Ina Chansons, for sharing.
I guess I should thank the UA-cam algorithm that showed me this jewel! And thank you too, OP!
Crazy, the other clip of this song I have is set in zoo of all places. This live performance is just fabulous. What a voice. What harmonising. What a song. It just doesn't get any better
How great to have a video of a live performance! So many of the hit records back then were lip-synched on television programs. Real performers!
When you sign a group like this with the tight vocals, a lead singer with one of the coolest voices in the history of pop/r&b music and who clearly stand out compared to other acts of their time, why would you not promote them more so they are more successful. This group has to have been treated poorly by the companies who signed them. They were just too good not to have been more successful. And then there is the moron in this video who was so disrespectful as to practically walk into them while they were performing. But they were so professional and well rehearsed that it didn't phase them in the least
This is sooo electric man! Pure rock'n'roll! The whole place is bouncing by the end of that performance....and what a performance!
Great 😃👍 Memories from 1963.
As the kids say today, AMAZEBALLS! I was worried when I realized that they only had a small combo behind them -- one of my favorite parts of the record is that wonderful pizzicato string arrangement -- but WOW! They sure as hell didn't need it! Brenda Reid sounds just as fantastic as she does on the record, and the Exciters' harmonies are top notch. On top of that, their energy level was incredible. Wow.
🙏 RIP Lillian Walker
Great. Brenda Reid lead, with Carol Johnson & Lillian Walker. Herb Rooney was manager & also sang. Dusty Springfield said hearing Brenda's vocals made her decide to leave The Springfields as she wanted to sing like her. They were a support act on The Beatles 1st US tour in '64 & on a stopover in Key West The Beatles booked out a motel. Late nite around the pool they played their instruments & the girls sang on an impromtu jam of their & Beatles black music fav's
Telling it like it is!
Tell Him
The Exciters
I know something about love
You've gotta want it bad
If that guy's got into your blood
Go out and get him
If you want him to be the very part of you
That makes you want to breathe, here's the thing to do
Tell him that you're never gonna leave him
Tell him that you're always gonna love him
Tell him, tell him, oh, tell him, tell him right now
I know something about love
You gotta show it and
Make him see the moon up above
Reach out and get him
If you want him to be always by your side
If you want him to only think of you
Tell him that you're never gonna leave him
Tell him that you're always gonna love him
Tell him, tell him, oh, tell him, tell him right now
Ever since the world began
It's been that way for man
And women were created
To make love their destiny
So why should true love be so complicated? Oh yeah, Oh-oh
I know something about love
You gotta take his hand
Show him what the world is made of
One kiss will prove it
If you want him to be always by your side
Take his hand tonight
Swallow your foolish pride
Tell him that you're never gonna leave him
Tell him that you're always gonna love him
Tell him, tell him, oh, tell him, tell him right now
Oh, you gotta go now
(Tell him that you're never gonna leave him)
Oh, yeah
(Tell him that you're always gonna love him) Yeah
(Tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him right now)
Don't you let him go, now
(Tell him that you're never gonna leave him) Oh, yeah
(Tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him right now)
Yeah
Take his hand and you'll be telling
great live footage that shows the Exciters lived up to their name....very cool
DKentization yes, I saw them a couple of times back in the sixties and they were really good. Tight vocals, great lead singer and for that time, very cool moves
Oh boy, I remember when this came out. Ran off and bought it ASAP...that is when I had a dollar.
Magic! Would have been great to be in the audience :)
thanks for posting! this might be the only live version of this song by the exciters
I love this song....Brenda is singing with so much feeling, you can feel the energy....such a cutie...
Toller frischer und flotter Auftritt.
Line-up : The Play-Boys (formerly Vince Taylor's band). Jo Fegan (piano), Tony Harvey (guitar), Edwin Sparrow (drums), Johnny Vance (bass).
Simply gorgeous!
SO GREAT. I'm speechless. Love the record, glad to hear/see this video. THANKS.
What a voice!
Just discovering this song for the first time! It’s incredible
The UK band Hello had a big hit with it in 1974 but I think this is maybe better.
I remember being real little & my mom having this record. Cool tune.
Incredible life performance!!
What a voice! Merci!
A rare video of a live performance. The French audience seems to enjoy it, even if they don't always clap in the right rhythm. The guitar gets out of key at one point. But Brenda Reid is terrific. At this time, the Supremes were the "no-hit Supremes," with six singles released, none of which got into the Billboard Top 40. Why didn't Brenda and co. have comparable success? The Exciters popularity tailed off during the 60s while the Supremes became the second most-popular group, behind the Beatles.
It all depended on who you were signed to. The Supremes had Motown backing them. Great writers and promotion. The Exciters clearly did not come near them in that category. It’s a shame because the Exciters were way more talented than the Supremes ( no disrespect here just my opinion) and amazing in person performers. Brenda Reid had a voice like no others. The group was from Queens, NewYork and had that tough swag with there style and dance routines and they sounded better in person than on records. It’s really a shame that they did not experience more success. BTW, the Beatles liked them so much that they had them open for them their first US tour.
I love the Exciters, great singers and Brenda's voice is so strong! Great
Fantastic live version of one of my favorite songs when I was 12 in NY
absolutely brilliant, could todays so called 'groups' swing it like these ?, I doubt it, their egos would probably prevent it. Sorry I'm biased, I'm not trying to be a downer on Todays music, but I grew up with music like this.........xx
YES!!!!
The best time ever !!
What a fantastic find on YT! This is a wonderful glance at black music from the 60s; and what a great performance by the group.
Thanks so much for uploading for the rest of us to enjoy.
That Was Tight
1:27 , I'm in love!!
excellent live version of the Exciter's biggest hit from 1963 different from the usual lip sync of that time. I wonder if it was a French sidemen?
Very nice , the singer did a good performance !
Brenda Reid; the greatest female rock and roll singer of all time?? I don't know, but maybe.........
Speaking of maybe, don't leave out Arlene Smith of the Chantels. Lol
I was around this time! Awesome voices!
10 Cloverfield Lane
No! Samsung ad :)
The camera shows the back of Brenda's head more than anything else, maybe she's just too good looking for Hollywood!!! 👑
First time I saw this group on video...thanks for posting!
Fantastic , a live show by a great group
Im 38 and love listening to this old music
You can feel the spirit of God in this room
MAGNIFICENT!!!
Tell Him
The Exciters
oui
Prenez sa main et vous direz

What were you expecting, 1080p or whatever overpriced, overhyped BS marketing standard there is in the crapitalistic world of the 21st century?
Dit swingt de pan uit.
