@@KandRCustomModels Thanks for the info. So basically they aren't like Atlas track signals where you need the voltage reducer or else you will fry the lights if it's higher than 4 volts.
Right after I watched your video I went on Mr. Muffins website. There is quite a nice selection of signals including search light signals. Thanks for this info.
For one that has only used a Lionel signal this was really great to see. It gives me something to look at for my new layout which is in the planning stages. Thanks Jason
Nice video. I'm trying to catch up on all the O gauge videos on UA-cam. Those signals are excellent looking. To keep them prototypical, put the number boards on all of the intermediate signals. Without them, it denotes an absolute signal. Also, the advance signal coming into the cp or interlocking needs two signal heads if there will be the ability to cross over in that direction. I'm sure that you probably know this already, but some other viewers may not.
Very good view I hope that you in the near future show how you wired the signals to your relays and switches in a way that will be easy to follow it would be most helpful and highly appreciated thank you.
I live in New England and these are the most common signals used. They are still installed brand new for replacements only difference is it’s an Led signal.
Jason Thank you for your segment on the Review about your new Track Signal. What I would like to know first of all is The Locomotives in your Inventory will you program the Consist or (The Load) to stop and go at each Block Signal or will the block signal stop the train when it comes up to the signal? Like a Automobile stopping at a red light and waiting for the signal to turn Green to proceed on through. Am I Right? Thank you for your time Sincerely Allan Martinez
Very nice block signals, Jason! I think you know more about wiring than you admit, but you contacted some great veteran modelers to make sure you get a smooth run. It'll be a real treat to see them all set up and operating!
Did you know that when a train passes a signal and the signal goes from green to red or whatever the aspect is. Railroaders call it knocking down the signal
Thanks for the great videos! I have an off topic question….which car is taller, auto carrier or double stack? I’m working on my second level and I want to make sure I’ll have clearance. TIA
The Atlas intermodal double stacks are a bit taller than the auto racks. However, MTH double stacks are even taller! I don't run those on my layout though.
Im curious how these compare to Atlas O signals 😀 Edit: Wrote this before you talked price. Was planning on continuing with Atlas O but for almost $90 a signal, its a bit costly. Will absolutely give one of the type G a try!!!
Atlas certainly makes nice signals. I really wanted some dual signal heads and currently, Atlas does not make them in O-scale. And as you mentioned, the prices of K&R signals are hard to beat.
They look great, and I love the hand-made aspect too. Pricing is great too. Just wondering about the yellow light flicker though. Is that due to you isolated rail being to short, a feedback issue, or something else?
@@waynebright6452 When I saw that signal flickering, the first thing I thought of was those Lionel autoracks. Despite their scale length, they have a reputation for being significantly lighter than they should be.
Jason signals look awesome. I am switching from old Lionel tracks to atlas tracks now. But having hard time finding cork road bed. Do you have a source. Thank you.
Of course absolute signals guarding switches or whole interlockings for that matter would not have number plates on them as is the US railroading standard
Those are real nice? Your layout era1995 to 2015 you are shooting for. Just curious? It’s 2021 at present. Has there been a large change in real trains the last 6 years?
Why do they flicker when they first turn red & when your cars are almost leaving the last isolated block section? Such as at 15:21, 14:24, 13:02, and 14:05.
@@TeslaFSDBetaVideos No. The Atlas snap locks have nothing to do with the flickering. It’s purely a result of poor connectivity from the wheels. As I said, I have a solution for it but I’m waiting for the item to arrive.
@@JDStucks I know that you will discuss a lot of this in the future, though I thought I would ask anyway since this is in the comments - with sensors on order, does that mean that you are going to utilize sensors instead of the isolated block in the future? Thanks.
Have you did a video yet of how you wired your signals with the atlas switch? I have the atlas switches and I have the signals you recommended, just need to know how to wire them. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I can send you my email address if it helps.
@@JDStucks I should not have called them Junk , that was uncalled for . However they did fail quickly . Perhaps using the variable track power is not the best idea as I do run some conventional units along with DCS . The layout has 21 blocks to allow this. I did not return the units but substituted Z-Stuff signals . Buy the way great work on your layout !
@@MrJhuber46 I would not recommend using variable track power for any signal system. I’d use a dedicated transformer with lower Voltage and use a common ground. Just my suggestion to prevent any other signal systems from going toast.
Thanks for the great review! Enjoy! For those watching we can custom wire if you want different operation!
What is the voltage rating for these signals.
@@CSXtrackworker they will operate on. 8-18 vac or DC but recommend 18vac track power or less!

I won't have the layout programmed quite that sophisticated haha. But the signals will still operate prototypically.
These are awesome, some parts of Australia use very similar signals however none are available for model scale.

Will this be the alternative to Custom Signals, being the ones based off of the Atlas models?
