That's true. In order to make it look like the snow was falling up, the chorus had to be filmed and reversed, so they all ( I think...certainly Mitch and Kirstie did) had to lipsynch "run to you" backwards. Apparently not easy. Gorgeous, hauntingly beautiful song.

If you like this one, you’ll like Light in the Hallway. There is a live performance recorded on a cell phone, no official video. It was written by Scott for his nephew, it’s a lullaby, and he wrote it for Avi to sing. It is beautiful, I tear up every time I hear it.
Every live concert they do a song where they put down mics, ask the audience for quiet, and sing "old school" - this is one of the ones they do that way. There are videos and its extraordinary how they get their voices to carry, even when singing softly. I just rewatched a video that you might really enjoy since it's very different than their "normal" ones. Made w/ Todrick Hall, watch The Wizard of Ahhhs. The production is clever and outstanding, the mash up of songs is creative and you get The Wizard of Oz in 7-8 minutes of creativity and gorgeous singing. It'll make you smile for sure!!

Like the rest of PTX just sat there and played a part, then provided their voice, and said ok that's enough. PTX has developed their style of composition in unison with Ben. (I forget his name) Avi's music slaps because he employs the style he learned while working in unison with "Ben" and all members of PTX.

In college with a double major of choral director and opera when Pentatonix was formed for the 2011 SingOff Acapella competition. Hair and beard length on Avi is a good way to tell what year it is for the first 6 years. If you ever react to Avi's solo work you will see what he looks like now. "Change On the Rise" is very cinematic and his most popular or When I'm a Fool Live at Sunset Sound Studios was just recorded in June.
Please do the reaction to the recording of Evergreen. It's wonderful and really shows their creative process. There is a scene where they get chills hearing THEIR own voices. It's way cool. Evergreen is also the album that they are nominated for a Grammy. The whole album is magical. Before the first song there is the sound of a match lighting a candle. After the last song, you hear them blow it out. I thought that it was super clever and the perfect way to tie it all together. Like a bow on the most beautiful Christmas packed ever. I hope that you can get it posted on UA-cam. I believe that it is a Pentatonix owned short film. And that SME doesn't have rights to it. But, I don't know for sure. There are several old interviews where Avi and Kevin talk about writing this then bringing it to the group to be put in its final form. I can't remember exactly what parts each wrote but when you look at the credits Avi is listed first The lyrics remind me a lot of what Avi writes as a solo artist so Im inclined to believe most of the lyrics are his. All of the songs Pentatonix does are credited to the whole group but this is because they all have input into their parts of the final song.

The second that I saw that you reacted to this I came running because this is still one of my all time favorites of theirs. i love their original music, many don't have videos, such as 'anchor' 'petals', 'on my way home'. they also have some mash ups where they take two or three songs and sing little bits of each over and over until it sounds like a whole new song. 'la la latch' is a good example of that.
This is my fave of theirs that is an original. They were inspired to write this after they heard "My Heart with You". Check out that cover of theirs. They just released it last year after having known it for 10 years. In that song they have a lot of beautiful what I call "cascades" of sounds. This song is on the Evergreen album. Merry Christmas.

Great reaction my guy. The one thing I say over and over and over is how TIGHT this group is. They breathe, transition, crescendo, etc. as one single unit. Also, they put in the work. This isn't a pop diva that rehearses a few hours a week does a show shakes their bon bon and gets paid. No you have 5 incredible musicians dedicated to the bone for their craft and it shows. Reactors talk about Mitch constantly changing his look, but there is something they are forgetting. They are bouncing around watching him from 18-30 not seeing him age and gradually change. Seeing it in real time it has never been as drastic as people aging him 12 years or -9 years in 3 days. I know at 30 I looked nothing like i did at 18 either.
This one of my favorites of their originals. They sang it live when I saw them in concert and it was incredible. The entire stadium was absolutely silent while they stood around a single mike and sang. I recorded it on my phone and still listen to it often. Love love love
You might want to listen to a cover of this by Sam Robson. He's out of the UK, and can only be described as 1 man who embodies an acapella group of 30 people and untold number of instruments with his voice at one time. He has an insane range from high tenor to bass. His "Circle of Life" is a must hear. Enjoy.

Also if no one else mentioned, when the snow goes up, they're lip syncing in reverse so it can be played backwards! They also made sure to release the sheet music, as mentioned in one of their other end-caps at the end of a vid.

Also, if you liked Run To You, then you will likely also love "Light In The Hallway", Scott wrote it as a lullaby for his baby nephew and asked Avi to sing lead on it. In the concerts they used to perform it at the end with just one mic in between them. If you look it up, I definitely recommend a live version (idk if they ever did a music vid for the studio version). "Sing", another original, is almost the opposite: it's up beat and catchy. Anchor doesn't have a music vid that I'm aware of, but it's a stunning original, with a Mitch lead. There are just so many awesome songs they've done, I want to recommend so many to you, but at what point do we just say "all of them, listen to them all" lol. Idk if anyone mentioned this, but the chorus, where the ash is going upwards, that was the video being runnin reverse, they all learned to lip synch that part backwards in order to make it work. Also, at one point they made the sheet music available on their site for free, but idk if it still is (i tried to look but couldn't see it on there). This is 5 part harmony as Kevin is doing the tenor part with Mitch. He splits off & does counter melody with Kirsten. There’s no beat boxing/percussion in this.
Mitch is a Chamaeleon!! If you have followed them since the Sing Off 11 years ago - he is almost unrecognizable from the baby Mitch at 18 years old!! But that voice - though it has matured - it has been amazing from day one!!! ❤🙌🏻
This original was done because they couldn't get the rights to My Heart With You, so made this in it's stead. They did "My Heart With You" last year. The Evergreen experience is so incredible to watch. Nice reaction!
Personally I feel that their original songs don't get nearly enough love. All of their originals are amazing. For a different vibe check out Sing. It's super up beat and fun. Also their Pop Spring 2016 performance has 3 awesome originals and the Evolution of Michael Jackson. It's a bit long but totally worth it.

The story is that this song was inspired by another song, My Heart With You. Several years after they recorded this song, they finally recorded My Heart With You for their Evergreen album (currently nominated for their 4th Grammy award). The video for My Heart With You on UA-cam was recorded live for their Christmas Under the Stars concert for BYUtv, and it is absolutely in my top 5 PTX songs of all time - another song with no beatboxing, just 3 and 5 part harmony throughout. Highly recommended!
John, if you enjoyed this purely acapella (no rhythm) ballad, I highly recommend you check out their version of Silent Night filmed in a cathedral using the natural acoustics of the building. It's pretty incredible.

Fun fact. The group had to learn to lip sync backwards to record the snow falling up. They recorded the snow falling and singing backwards and then played it backwards to get the up falling snow.
IDK if they did "My Heart with You" at the concert you attended, but if they did, you saw them go off mic, which is incredible in a huge arena. They've done that with this song in live performances before too.
You should check out their version of Radioactive, it's a collaboration with violinist Lindsey Stirling. Their cover of Lennon's Imagine is also one of my favorites. Really, you can pick anything they do and it will be amazing. They're just that damn good.

Mitch was very young when they started and since then he has had cancer. This could explain alot of his appearance change, plus he is a fashion God!

If you look it up, I definitely recommend a live version (idk if they ever did a music vid for the studio version). "Sing", another original, is almost the opposite: it's up beat and catchy. Anchor doesn't have a music vid that I'm aware of, but it's a stunning original, with a Mitch lead. There are just so many awesome songs they've done, I want to recommend so many to you, but at what point do we just say "all of them, listen to them all" lol.
Idk if anyone mentioned this, but the chorus, where the ash is going upwards, that was the video being runnin reverse, they all learned to lip synch that part backwards in order to make it work.
Also, at one point they made the sheet music available on their site for free, but idk if it still is (i tried to look but couldn't see it on there). Though obviously, there are sites selling it online too.

This is my favorite of their originals - hands down. And, given all their other amazing originals, that's saying a lot!
I believe you would really love their performance of My Heart with You. They may have done it in the concert you went to but would enjoy seeing you react to that. Also Light in the Hallway. Scott and his partner wrote it as a lullaby for Scott’s sister’s baby. Stunning. Abe as lead on the last one by the way.

This is, hands down, my favorite PTX song, and I'm so, so happy you found it! (FYI, you may have already learned this, but it was written by Kevin and Avi, if I recall correctly.)
This is 5 part harmony as Kevin is doing the tenor part with Mitch. He splits off & does counter melody with Kirsten. There’s no beat boxing/percussion in this.
Mitch is a Chamaeleon!! If you have followed them since the Sing Off 11 years ago - he is almost unrecognizable from the baby Mitch at 18 years old!! But that voice - though it has matured - it has been amazing from day one!!! ❤🙌🏻
This original was done because they couldn't get the rights to My Heart With You, so made this in it's stead. They did "My Heart With You" last year. The Evergreen experience is so incredible to watch. Nice reaction!

Personally I feel that their original songs don't get nearly enough love. All of their originals are amazing. For a different vibe check out Sing. It's super up beat and fun. Also their Pop Spring 2016 performance has 3 awesome originals and the Evolution of Michael Jackson. It's a bit long but totally worth it.
Oh I couldn't click this one fast enough! My fav song! AND...they sing the chorus backward so the snow goes upward. They commented that it was so hard practicing singing words in reverse so that they didn't look silly

The story is that this song was inspired by another song, My Heart With You. Several years after they recorded this song, they finally recorded My Heart With You for their Evergreen album (currently nominated for their 4th Grammy award). The video for My Heart With You on UA-cam was recorded live for their Christmas Under the Stars concert for BYUtv, and it is absolutely in my top 5 PTX songs of all time - another song with no beatboxing, just 3 and 5 part harmony throughout. Highly recommended!

PTX was in season 3 of The Sing Off in 2011-2012. Mitch skipped graduation ceremonies to audition in 2011. The Trio was 18.

Fun fact. The group had to learn to lip sync backwards to record the snow falling up. They recorded the snow falling and singing backwards and then played it backwards to get the up falling snow.

IDK if they did "My Heart with You" at the concert you attended, but if they did, you saw them go off mic, which is incredible in a huge arena. They've done that with this song in live performances before too.
You should check out their version of Radioactive, it's a collaboration with violinist Lindsey Stirling. Their cover of Lennon's Imagine is also one of my favorites. Really, you can pick anything they do and it will be amazing. They're just that damn good.
