Laura, You may never see this, but I just had to write. I LOVED THIS VIDEO! My wonderful Mom and I use to garden together and did so as long as I can remember. She told me that we started long ago when I was a toddler and she was on a tight budget. She would plant and I would pull them up and bring them to her and she would plant and I would pull up again and so it would go until she taught me to dig a hole! Then everything changed and we could plant together! I have so many beautiful memories. Laughing and loving gardening together. My wonderful Mom passed away August 2015 after a brave fight against cancer. I miss her every single day. This video with your Mom made me so happy for you and your mother. Enjoy every moment. I garden alone now. My daughter is just not into it. But I remember my own wonderful Mom. I garden in her honor and sometimes my tears water my plant. Thank you. XO

Hi Laura, I've not commented on your lovely posts before. But I wanted to take a moment to say how happy I am for you to have such a beautiful relationship with your mom. I've never had that, and it is a joy to see and be able to (in a way) take part in as you take us on these gorgeous mountain outings. You have a beautiful family life, and spread the joy. Blessings to you all.
I've never had it either, or a relationship with anyone in my entire family really, its quiet sad. I've always seen these people with loving familys and it breaks my heart
@@Amandahugginkizz I feel you in my heart. Those of us that were not blessed with rich family lives must find a way to connect and bring community into our lives. Let other's joy bring you joy, and know that there is joy equal to, and even more perfect just for you. I've heard it said that "friends are the family we get to choose." I include animals, neighbors, coworkers, and even the people I see in market place as my family. Then just think how big your family can be! Make it a spiritual practice to create your circle of love.

Lol...my mother gave me the exact same shoe advice a few years ago when she noticed my flat canvas sneakers. I said, "But mom, my feet never hurt". Her reply: "Well, just keep wearing those shoes and they will." Cherish these moments with your mom. I lost mine to cancer a couple of years ago and what I would give to have an outing like this with her ❤.

Hi Laura! It's so nice to see your mom and you get out like this. Famillies dont take the time to do things like this any more. So it warms my heart to see that you take this time together. 😊 Precious memories! Maybe in a few years sweet Benjamin can join the fun! My mom and I use to do this too. I really miss doing this. When we were younger mom would fix up a picnic basket and we would go to the mountains (Ozark Mountains, in Missouri) and explore for pinecones, etc. My dad would build a fire for hotdogs. It was amazing! Great memories. I've already cut some grapevines, and few other things. God bless you and your family!

This video was awesome! I hope you realize what a gift you have with your mom. This is how I was with my mom until she was stolen from us by cancer. I miss her so much! But, I am so happy to see that there are other folks out there who are having a great time with their moms. I "foraged" at my municipal yard waste site. I'll be adorning my one outdoor container with the pine and fir boughs I picked up and adding a few hydrangea blooms.
Kate Hillenbrand Great idea! As I watched this video, I was wondering whose land they were foraging on. Here in PA, 70% of forest is privately owned. The state owns most of the rest of the forest areas, but prohibits foraging/logging without a permit. We have a lot of garden centers that carry cut greens at Christmas, but they’re $$$. Your idea of municipal garden waste foraging is great!!!

Always remember the times with my Mom baking and decorating Christmas cookies. We stayed up way to long and were so silly and laughed so much. Some of the cookies were ridiculous but those were always our favorite. Those are the memories after all these years that I treasure most. Once we 'decorated' my sleeping brother who didn't feel good and had laid down on the couch by the tree to sleep - he should have known better. Cherry nose, green pepper ears, garland wreath on his head, and a huge bow on his belt. So much fun to look back at the pictures and laugh all over again.
