  • I'm so excited to be joined by social media star, Alexia Delarosa (@lex.delarosa), on this week's episode of the podcast. Lex considers herself a full-time stay-at-home mom but she has also found incredible success cultivating a following online as she shares glimpses into the beauty of motherhood and homemaking. Her journey from a simple bread-making video to becoming a viral sensation is a testament to the power of authenticity and humor in the content creation space. This isn't your average tale of a "trad wife" - it's an insightful look at how personal choices carve out unique family dynamics, with Alexia’s warm narrative leading the way. While Alexia and I bonded over the discomfort of being asked about our salaries on live television, she didn't shy away from discussing the often taboo topic of money, sharing her business’s revenue and how much she charges for brand partnerships. Finally, we waded through the evolving perceptions of gender roles and financial independence as she detailed the shift within her own marriage. She spoke candidly about the challenges of being a stay-at-home mom and a full-time content creator, juggling parenting and her professional life without losing sight of her needs and aspirations. Her story is a wonderful example for those balancing family and Internet fame, illustrating the changing landscape of digital media and gender expectations.

Leave a comment down below and tell me what you thought about this episode! Think we should do a full episode on how different ways that partners consolidate their finances?? 🤔

While Alexia does not identify as a true a trad wife, that’s how many viewers that do not know the full story see her on social media. With feminism we support a women’s right to choose the life she wishes to lead, whether that’s staying at home or working in an “office”. I just feel that a better job needs to be done to explain her position on her social platforms since so many miss it. Not all viewers will be her target audience, and with the dark and at times dangerous past with traditional wife living, a clearer message would be great especially for young viewers! Not that a partner tries to push this lifestyle she loves onto someone it is not right for. That is obviously out of Alexia’s control, but something to be mindful of. Also so happy for your financial independence it is such an important thing to have!

I’m a SAHM of 2 (after over a year of attempting to work from home while also watching my 1st baby). I know many couples choose to keep separate accounts (we do everything jointly) but I can’t imagine choosing to be a stay at home parent without joint accounts or at least full access to the family’s money. It could turn into financial abuse in the hands of the wrong partner.

My husband and I have a joint hiusehold account we both contribute to for joint expenses but keep the rest of our finances seperate, we have never had an argument about money and always discuss finances and goals for finances and savings

I recognized her from a few tik toks and I really thought it was 100% satire. So I was surprised by the introduction. But then when you started talking about the exaggeration and satire really reconciled me with the content.

I found her kind of annoying - I'm happy she can provide for her kids etc, but she came across as really annoying / obnoxious. Great questions from Lucie, as always.
