- Welcome back, bookworms! In this classic review, I'll discuss the noir detective novel The Maltese Falcon, where private eye Sam Spade tries to help (or go against, who knows) a young woman who is caught up in a scheme to get a priceless artifact from some violently driven people.

Would like to see the recent Stage-Play of The Maltese Falcon (PROBERBLY my favorite art form) my top 3 Crime books 1 Ellroy The Black Dahlia 2 Cain The Postman Always Rings Twice 3 The Maltese Falcon
I think my two favorite noir references in TV shows are the made elephant episode in warehouse 13 and that detective episode in Phineas and Ferb
Ferb, lean on him!
Okay, I will re-read The Maltese Falcon! In high school, I read a lot of old time detective novels and The Maltese Falcon was one of my favorites. However, I preferred Raymond Chandler's works and Agatha Christie. Don't read much contemporary detective novels. They generally aren't about "detecting". 😊
I absolutely LOVE Agatha Christie, but her style is very different. This was my first Hammett and I've never read Chandler (yet!), but now I do want to expand my horizons with their noir style.
Great analysis. I completely agree.
Just finished this novel today. I loved it!
Just finished reading it and you share all my thoughts exactly. It was the fat shaming of Gutman that I found most at odds with values of this century, but my goodness did a lot of the descriptions tickle me!
Great video, thanks for sharing! I actually just reviewed the 4K release of the film adaptation over on my channel.
Just liked and subscribed!
Cool, just watched your video and now I want this movie in my collection!
🖖🏻
I despise anything Woke! So I’m super excited to dive into this book. Just because we are in 2023 doesn’t mean we are anymore enlightened than those in the past. Sorry not sorry.
Well, but we did make *some* good changes when it came to human (and others) rights in the past few years. I'm glad I can be independent and every time I want to make a financial decision the bank don't just call my husband to ask... Yes, I hate "wokeness" but some respect for SJW :)
