I'm 23 and I live in the states, been listening to these guys as long as I can remember thanks to my dad. I've seen them 3 or 4 times and I totally agree with ya. They've been doing it almost twice as long as I've been alive and still kick ass. Long live SAXON!!!
I was never really a Saxon fan, (nothing to do with the band) but this song has always been up there with the best of best..... Thanks for giving the world this ace song.
Before the 2nd refrain..when I saw the crowd raising hands in the air in front of Biff..just before the guitar solo tears came into my eyes..despite the fact that I heard this song 1000 times, but not this version
Remember when i saw Saxon Kuusrock outdoor festival, in Oulu, Finland 1981. Their professional touch made a big impresson for a young, 17 years old kid. Well, Saxon still going strongly. In exempel album "Call of arms" was great.
Once I read that this awesome song makes a little mistake: 747 production began in 1969, while NY's great blackout was in 1964 or 1965. In anyway, I can listen this tens of times without getting tired of it.
Paul Quinn- that solo/intro. my god. classic. steve dawson and pete gill were a rhythm section. you see you either groove - or you don't. saxon grooved.
logie1959, Not a true story, Lyrically, the song tells a story about a power cut that forced planes in New York City to remain in ascent in 1965 with the power outage, forcing a Scandinavian flight to detour to Kennedy airport in the dark. The flight mentioned, "Scandinavian 101", was actually Scandinavian Airlines flight 911 and was likely flown on a Douglas DC-8, as the 747 was still under development at the time and only entered commercial airline service in 1969, four years after the outage. The incident caused a major overhaul in safety and propped the future of reserve fuel tanks, as Scandinavian 911 almost used up all its fuel.
A bit before their best years which followed soon. I saw them in '83, Ljubljana, Slovenia. It was unforgettable. NWOBHM was awesome. No wonder we kids grabbed this stuff with both hands and got hooked to it immediately.
my favourite band as a school kid :) still sounds bloody good now,,shame heavy metal turned to commercialised crap ah well guns n roses n aerosmith still sounds bloody good :)
So melodic for heavy metal. These guys are one of the all-time great hard rock bands.
This is more heavy metal than anything Cannibal Corpse and the like will ever be!

Hmm. Very good occasionally, but inconsistent.

the best metal band live,,,,,,, Saxon seriously rocked throughout my youth,,,,,, Respect
Saw them a few times in the early 80s, including the 1980 Donnington Festival. Great band.
This is GOOD. Thanks.
All those in that crowd now own companies and drive Jags, I knew we were right. Heavy F**king Metal. Maiden, Saxon, Priest, and of course Motorhead.
The Hungry Years!!!!
+Bill Newton the angry years
They'd kill for those crowds these days.
If Biff dressed like Harris, nobody would know. Jokes aside, my ever favorite band and song since 80s!
[Edit- Harris from Maiden]
KICK - ASS BASS 🤘🏻

Fudido demais! Baixão ativo fico lindo demais, dawson era foda demais e uma presença fodastica no palco agitava a galera! Muito foda!
Ótimos tempos que não voltam mais
Ganon Biff lad 🤘🤘🤘
Great video 👍
SAXON! Hell yea step children!
Allegedly the inspiration for Spinal Tap - I can see that in bassist Steve Dawson - but Saxon are no joke!
Like Spinal Tap but with one difference 💭AWESOME talent 🎵🎸🫶🤘

Saw them at Birmingham Odeon on that tour

Brilliant.

Geili Sieche!
круто когда бас хорошо слышно
Should of kept this line up
Their best lineup for sure 😃 Quinn and Oliver were a brilliant guitar team !
Just for today!!
Saw them at Donnington 83 I think
Great performance, great bass, great guitars, but it's a pity how Biff always avoids the higher notes.
when men wore jeggings.......
Electric start!
I not really into them but this song is brilliant..
There are some more, imo. To my oppinion, the vast majority of their 2nd and 3rd album is great. The genre defining stuff.
Am the same mark a life time ago a friend was into metal and played most days on a cassette at work
Metal gods Saxon
está tema es una obrar. maestra
