Steve Dawson was no slacker back then, steady and straight forward. Also loved how he refused to be ignored. Of all the metal bands I saw back in the early 80s and late 70s, I never got to see Saxon, had all the LPs just they didn't come to my area
ButThatsShacksTrain I was privileged to see them twice in Germany. Mainz during their World Crusade tour and Mannheim during their Live Innocence tour. Saxon was the first heavy metal band I heard and saw live. Long live Saxon!
Yes! I miss Steve Dawson, nothing against the present line-up, but he was the coolest bassplayer in Heavy Metal. Not as technical as Steve Harris, but he sounds great and has a lot of energy on stage.
Just listening on headphones and noticed just how tight Dawson was. Of course, he's the prototype for Derek Smalls, but take a moment to get past the characature and listen to how well he really played.
Saxon might not have the greatsest songs in metal, but I have never seen a band who sounds so good on stage, it's like they draw energy from the crowd like no other band. I love Saxon, great clip, great song!
This is great! Yeah, great song and great lyrics. I owned the tape of DENIM AND LEATHER when I was 13 in 1989. Used to play this all the time. Ah, memories of how rock and roll saved my life. UFO, Saxon, Diamond Head- still the best.
Just goes to show that there is more than one hard rock/heavy metal band which are "the bad boys of boogie"! You can't go wrong with the Six Million Dollar Bassman, Steve Dawson!
Steve Dawson's bass sound is from other Galaxy!..I think that it thd hughest Saxon's mistake to fired him...He didn't deserve it with the way that it happened
check this live clip of Steve and Graham doing "the eagle has landed" in late 2012. He still rock! :) I couldnt copy in the link, but search : Oliver Dawson SAXON ( The Eagle Has Landed ) and you will find it!
The sound engineer that day had to be a bassist.
The bass on this song is awsome.
Bass Player Is Amaizing

I love the bass on this, Steve Dawson rocks - The original Derek Smalls!!!!
1983 & 1987 were the best years in hard rock & metal.
Saxon might not have the greatsest songs in metal, but I have never seen a band who sounds so good on stage, it's like they draw energy from the crowd like no other band. I love Saxon, great clip, great song!
Saxon definitely had their fair share of great metal/ heavy rock songs and Quinn and Oliver were a magnificent guitar pairing.
They have great songs just in the underground scene and they are hymns
The bass Fender Jazz,great sound
54 and still head banging with saxon
What a band, what AWESOME music.......long live Saxon.....!!!!!!!
WHAT a rhythm section.

@Hatchetman6971 I WANT to agree but i cant, i just love venom
That Leggin is too sexy for you Mr.Bifford 😎🤘
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Love this song but they are playing it waaay to slow
NWOBHM rules !
And ... Saxon were my favourites.
Funny how you never saw Biff and Russ Abbott in the same room
comparable to venom kind of, theyre later stuff at least
Is it possible that Judas totally ripped thing shit off in Jawbreaker???
Tempo is too low.
No spandex no Saxon
when Biff had his original hair color...i was shocked when he become blonde a few years later...didn't liked him blonde so much..
This is so British; so ominous and sinister.
@123stephenno Venom sucks compared to the mighty Saxon. Get with reality
I prefer Saxon. I don't care for the devil stuff from Venom.
I don't care for devil stuff all together 😎
No remorse Metallica....
