So, you probably know this, but these rock enemies, like the miners and lava wyrm, are very resistant against slashing weapons, katana, swords, whatever, the tip is to either use magic damage (magic, fire, lightning, as long as it glows it cool) or blunt weapons (club, mace etc)
The sad thing is, the whole reason you had been doing so little damage is the he resists slashing damage. You need to use a strike weapon like the hammer against the enemies that look like they are made of rock
4 hits with large club. Pls remember. Striking, Slashing, Standard Piercing deals different damages to different enemies. just judge them by their looks. If they are crystalized and has armor and sh1t just Striking dmg deals extra dmg. If they look like a blob piercing dmg deals more but striking deals less. and SLashing is for boss that are flesh or human since most slashing has bleed too.
Moonveil is incredibly strong, however, the damage is low on your Moonveil because it scales higher with INT than it does with DEX, make sure to boost your INT too
This is also only true until later upgrades. At +10 it has a B scaling with both Int and Dex, I believe it gets the B scaling with Int around +7-9 somewhere.
I actually have been dual wielding Moonveil and an intelligence-scaling Uchigatana the entire game. It's a stupidly powerful build. Honestly haven't found any other int-dex weapon that I've been as big a fan of so far and I'm over 40 hours in.
Got this katana at like 10hrs in. Still using it 40hrs in. Its amazing. The rest of your playthrough should be much more smooth sailing lol. Easy to upgrade too.
You shld find the lantern, it's equitable next to the flask. It just lights up the area around you, nothing special but big help in these dark dungeons
Yo Afro! There's this small thing that probably a lot of players starting in Elden Ring aren't even considering as a fact... It's the fact that you can also jump low attack and it works. Which is why Jumping Heavy attacks counts as staggering damage to enemies. Like how the Dragon fight just now does the dragging sword thing on the ground? You can jump and try to hit the Dragon with an Airiel heavy
Pro Tip: if you hold the dpad down button it will jump to the first item in that slot. So usually if you use the mana estus instead of circling all the way back to get to the red estus you can just hold that button down to jump to the red estus as long as it is the first item in your slot.
It's very annoying when you just want to play the game and people are cry like "NO YOU FORGOT A SPECIAL ITEM!!!" LIKE LET PEOPLE PLAY THE GAME THE WAY THEY WANT TO PLAY IT
Imo Afro you should get the blood fang sword I’ve been using it literally the entire game and it’s mainly a dex weapon, also the unique attack which inflicts a lot of damage and as long as you find some somber smithing stones you will find your self dealing amazing damage.
I’ve been using the sword of night and flame and I think it’s really good and you don’t need to even kill anything to get it but you 24 faith and intelligents just to fully use it’s power and you don’t need to be that high level to go to the area to get it
For anyone watching, DO NOT kill the dragon for 75k souls. It completely ends one of the cooler quest lines toward the end of the game and locks you out of some of the endings.
i didnt kill it because i had a feeling something so big just laying there in a fromsoft game had to be part of a questline, good to know thats the case

Dual wield your katana's. This doubles the bleed, and make sure you have the moonveil on your right hand so that you can use the *GETSUGA TENSHO!* at the same time.

Either Afro doesn’t like using summons because he feels it makes it too easy, or he’s saving his mana so he can spam. I forgot which reason but it’s probably the latter.

i really reccomend reading the tutorial pictures in your inventory, it explains alot of concepts that are new to elden ring, like hardened enemies like the miners you were fighting, you need to use a "strike" weapon against them like a club, hammer, flail etc. anything that looks like it would crush shit

"Instant Stagger" Yes. Yes it does. Even late game, two R2 skill laser beams will stagger any humanoid boss and set them up for a critical hit. So long as both the sword and the beam connect, at least. It has made short work of all but a select few bosses for me so far. It is an even better magic weapon than this game's Moonlight Greatsword, which is already an insanely good weapon. Trust me, stick with this weapon. Level your INT and level that katana. Easy mode activated.
The Moonveil is honestly the weapon I've been using since I found it! I was a little worried about finding a dex/int weapon since that was the build I was planning, but that weapon was a game changer.
Just a little tip for those miners you fought who were making you bounce each hit. (Since your gonna be seeing them a LOT if you want to get upgrade materials) they are REALLY resistant to most physical attack types EXCEPT strike. So when you find a miner. Don’t swing a sword at it. Swing a really thicc branch or something you found. The damage difference is eye widening.
Jump attack also cannot bounce off of an opponent, so especially when duel wielding for me (I duel wield axes and the aerial double attack is a 1-2 strike) jumping and duel attacking tends to instakill

The Moon Veil Katana is arguably one of the best katanas in the game. My build currently is centered around Power Stancing the moonveil and meteoric ore blade weapons and it’s so powerful. And I use one of the most powerful summons in the game as well, the Mimic Tear. Also make sure you’re using the Rune Arc items you get. Those are this games Embers.

70 hours in and I've been doing the same thing but with a blood scaled Wakizashi instead of an Uchigatana. It's actually fun.

You can also put the lantern in your pouch so your potions don't become overcrowded with stuff like summons and the lantern itself

The moonveil katana is stupid OP they are definitely gonna nerf it. The weapon art does crazy damage. And you can get it to plus 5 pretty easily.

Last thing. Learning to shoot regular wolithout L2 is a lifesaver. That skill ain’t good against bosses.
Actually the regular shot would be too low damage he would have run out of arrows before killing the boss if he didn't use the fp shot
