If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

I used to think like you. I thought I knew enough about finance and investing to handle everything myself. But then I realized that I was spending too much time and energy on researching, analyzing, and monitoring my finances. I was also overwhelmed by the amount of information and options available. I decided to hire a finance advisor and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. They saved me a lot of time and money, and gave me peace of mind.

Things appear strange right now. the value of the US dollars is declining due to inflation, but is increasing in comparison
to other currencies and commodities such as gold and real estate. People are flocking to the dollar because they believe
it is safer. I'm worried the rising inflation will cause my $420,000 retirement fund will loose value. What else can we do with our money.

For young investors, patience is very important. Warren Buffett has mastered the art of patience. He has stuck to the markets, having a long term view on the markets. This is what I'm struggling to do, trying to learn how to not react to market news about inflation and all. I have currently set aside about $153k to put in the market now that prices are down. Any stock ideas?

True. But it takes some gut to really remain in the market despite downturns and all. So just find quality stocks that have long term potential, and ride with those stocks. I have found it takes someone who is very familiar with the market, a professional, to make such good picks.

I was saying the same thing. University for the people is something new that Instagram was sending me ads about, how they can afford ads is questionable, but it's apparently free accredited college education. Also, MIT and other major colleges give or share content absolutely free that someone could learn it they just couldn't say that they have a degree in it.

    • @seanfdaly

      @StephenCourson Рік тому

That's true to some degree. But there's an easy way to screen those courses. If that person has a UA-cam/Podcast with free media, absorb all of that. If you get value from that, then the course will likely be worth the cost, whatever it is. If they don't offer free, valuable media, then ignore it and move on.

@@mr.architect6297 Lots of good books like how to win friends and influencer people. In terms of coaching and online. Typically those who put out free value without the intent of just course sales are a good bet. Nowadays most info you can get for free.

I'd challenge you to shift the perspective on that a little. 3 years of learning what not to do is still valuable for the future. Sure, it sucks you couldn't learn that faster, but its not a waste. I'm sure you are wiser from it and it will benefit you in the future.

@@JesseeCarr Thanks for the comment yeah How to win freinds and influence people is a nice one I also like reading old books cause you know back then it was harder to be a bestseller if your stuff was bad. But like you said you can almost learn anything for free now which is great!

Hey Alex, appreciate your effort in your videos. You talked about investing in your own learning. However, how do you find/network towards the right/legit coaches as there are so many fake gurus? Appreciate it.

Focus on people that are doing what you're looking to do. They don't need to be a big name, just successful at the level you want to be currently.

i was surprised to see that investing in knowledge and investing in yourself was a better thing to do while in your 20's. I figured you would say this to try and sell a course or something at the end of the video.. You didn't. Genuine information in such a no-bullshit, brilliant and captivating way. Truly impressive.
