Not only is the song dope, but Meth's cameo in Cage actually has a great effect on the storytelling. Cage is being framed and hunted by cops, but his run in with Meth leads to a public defense of Cage. It actually inspires people. Great stuff.
MrTea Trayvon is literally mentioned in the song tho... and the show runner of Luke Cage AND Mike Colter have both talked about the political significance of the show tho... lol
a lot of people don't know this apparently which makes me feel old and nerdy but Heroes For Hire was Luke's group with Jessica Jones and She Hulk was in it for a while and they are literally for hire and they are represented legally by Nelson and Murdoch. Cause NY is huge but social circles of superheroes is tiny as hell.
Not just super hero songs. Usually when you get an original piece for a property these days, they come out as complete shit (see: the original songs for the recent TMNT and Ghostbusters films), but this is just a legitimately great piece both as a featured song, and just on it's own.
This s**t was - is FIRE!!! One of the best parts of Episode 12... The the whole series was on point, Luke Cage fan here, looking forward to season two... Method Man spit truth on this piece!!! Fiction or not, "AND HE A BLACK ONE!!!"
the bullet proof hoodies was beyond powerful and beyond Luke cage because it relates to what's going on right now in society. this show is epic. salute to the writers.
0:43 "Who to call when no one obeys the law and there ain't no Iron Man come and save us all power to the people Luke Cage the cause and the cops got it wrong we don't think Cage involved!!!" Love that part!!! :)
"Can’t understand a man if you ain’t lived what he lived Roaches in the crib, Ain’t got no food up in the fridge Plus the crime running’ rampant and it’s screwing up the kids Sway, admit - What kind of paradise is this? I just want some 40 acres and some carats on the wrist But these snakes is tryna gather in the pit Where you get a cottonmouth plucking’ ashes off the clip Off the rip, now a challenger exists And he bulletproof, shoot, what kind of caliber is this? Got thugs in the store with the barrel on your lips Sayin’ “empty out the drawer” before he pound you with the grip Lord, who to call when no one obeys the law And there ain’t no Iron Man that can come and save us all? Power to the people and Luke Cage the cause And the cops got it wrong, We don’t think Cage involved Look, dog, a hero never had one Already took Malcolm and Martin this is the last one I beg your pardon, somebody pulling’ a fast one And now we got a hero for hire and he a black one And bullet-hole hoodies is the fashion We in Harlem’s Paradise tell the captain That I’m about to trade the mic for a magnum Yeah, cause this is bulletproof love And you already know what a bulletproof does So you can take it from a bulletproof thug The hood got his back, dog Bulletproof love"
This song has deep power because it understands the depth of characters like Luke Cage or Superman .They are invulnerable to any regular damage .Think of all the thugs and bullies that rob and rape and kill to their putrid heart's content just because nobody will stop them and they can harm others .All to satisfy their inferiority complex and to make others suffer while putting themselves beneath the Human condition in their egomaniatic enterprise .This all applying to those in power and those in the streets .And then comes someone who stands for what is right and who can never be hurt by those cockroaches , who has true Earthly power and can bully and harass and cause pain unto anyone he wants but chooses to protect the defenseless and fight the perverse .Because he understands that the true nature of Power is to serve and defend those that do not have it . Which is why Power Man is a good name for Luke Cage .
that would be dope but unlike some, i actually like the intro for season one ... it keeps a bit of the funk from when the series was originally created in the 70s. But bulletproof love would be dope as an intro
Method Man killed this plus the visual was amazing

Well, this looks like infect the whole internet. When I uploaded this I diden't count so much interst for the video, I uploaded this just for fun, becoused I loved that song. I can't belive that, the video is uploaded on Oct.2 and now we have more than 17000 view, it's just a fucking amezing!
I want to say why I love this as a white male in his early 40's. Even though there is a meaning behind this that I don't fully associate with because of my upbringing and skin color, deep down in my opinion this isn't fully about black or white. It's about oppressed vs. oppressor. Good vs. Evil and most importantly, "solidarity". Standing together with a purpose. Luke Cage may be bulletproof, but these other men aren't. They are not against the police, they're against the generalizations against them by those that judge based on color and the type of clothes they wear. This particular scene reminds me of Spider-Man (2002). When the people of New York start throwing things at The Green Goblin as a way to show support for someone that selflessly has helped them. I grew up right outside the Bronx, NY and went to school in a predominantly black area in the late 80's and early 90's. Maybe I have a better appreciation of African-American culture, but I'll never pretend to act like I know the struggle. I was treated better on school trips up north and people assumed I was racist and hated my friends in school because I was white. Any time we went into a store, all eyes were on them. I could have cleaned them out, while these idiots were too worried about black kids in their store. I love Superhero entertainment more as an adult than I ever did as a kid. Superheroes can be all types of people. Men and women that help others selflessly and don't expect a reward. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to say how important this show is to all people.
_Luke Cage_ is so necessary giving the time that we currently live in. This scene with Method is very necessary giving most of the mumble rap bullshit dominating the airwaves as of late. I love this show.
moment of truth, code of the streets, who's gonna take the weight, step in the arena, just to get a rep, suckas need bodygurds, manifest, blowin' up the spot, DWYCK, take it personal, now you're mine, soliloquy of chaos, you know my steez. They named every episode of the series from a gang starr song. Damn, respect!
Show was dope. Song was dope. Method was dope. Marvel at legends being born. Pun intended. But, Methods best line in this, "Bulletproof always gunna come second to being black"
Absolutely love the hype and love ppl have given towards this show. So happy how much of an influence this black hero has impacted the world. For most, never having heard of Luke Cage till the show. Which is why...I can't wait for ppl to fucking see another black superhero (and one of my favorites) Black Panther next year!
Marvel always has such great music that always goes with the occasion, whether in TV or movies. I especially love the one to luke cage. I love the intro song, I love all the jazz, and the rap.
already watched this video about five times. method man so good on beat and this series got a lot better for the second half. stuff like method man popping up gave it a bit of a boost.
This is so dope :D I just saw the episode today and i was like whaaat ITS METH! And then he even goes on Sway and spits bars about Luke cage! Just awesome.
Not only is the song dope, but Meth's cameo in Cage actually has a great effect on the storytelling. Cage is being framed and hunted by cops, but his run in with Meth leads to a public defense of Cage. It actually inspires people. Great stuff.
The best thing that can happen when you're both a comic book fan and a hip-hop fan is this right here!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Sweet Christmas Samy
Exactly, This is the shit
*_*
same here marvel has good taste in music
I’m having a nerd overdose. Salute
I have to admit, wearing those hoodies is a pretty inventive way of say "Fuck the Police" without actually insulting them. I fucking love this show.
+loveismycommandment
I'm wearing a Black Panther helmet and bullet ridden hoodie for Halloween, and I'm white.
All Lives Matter
this has nothing to do with blm tho...
MrTea Trayvon is literally mentioned in the song tho... and the show runner of Luke Cage AND Mike Colter have both talked about the political significance of the show tho... lol
200th like and agree :)
"who you're gonna call when nobody obeys the law and there ain't no iron man to come and save us all"
Eric Adrien fuck iron man lmao
Shaft?
captain america is shook
Quoting this just cause it says iron man when the beginning and end of this shit was just amazing
Eric Adrien Cool when Method man mentions Iron Man (= Ghostface Killah) in a Marvel production.
This scene was so powerful. We needed this series and this beat.
You're right, that's why I uploaded in here :)
"Look, dog, a hero never had one. Already took Malcolm and Martin this is the last one"
That line was soooo powerful:O
I was like damn
"i beg your pardon
somebody pullin a fast one
now we got a hero for hire and its a black one"
a lot of people don't know this apparently which makes me feel old and nerdy but Heroes For Hire was Luke's group with Jessica Jones and She Hulk was in it for a while and they are literally for hire and they are represented legally by Nelson and Murdoch.
Cause NY is huge but social circles of superheroes is tiny as hell.
Such a great line!!!
This is one of the best superhero songs I've ever heard that actually give you an essence of the character they're rapping about. Beautiful!
Not just super hero songs. Usually when you get an original piece for a property these days, they come out as complete shit (see: the original songs for the recent TMNT and Ghostbusters films), but this is just a legitimately great piece both as a featured song, and just on it's own.
This means method man is in the same universe as the avengers. Now thats pretty cool. Hopefully he's not gonna die when thanos comes.
Rippel0000 Well Ghostface was hanging with Tony in that deleted scene in the first Iron Man
Easily one of the best scenes in the series
"Bulletproof Love" and "Long Live The Chief" just lit you on fire. Marvel says You're welcome. lol
Jonathan Barkley- dude I wish DC had such amazing musical artists. :p
It's too bad all they got is 21 pilots and a stupid Jared Leto filled music video hahaha
Meth was spitting that fire on this scene
Wonder how long it to make that rap. Real Rap. Not like that mumble rap.
*took
it wasn't scripted it was a complete freestyle and it was done in 1 take
I need more proof than that
It's Method Man
A great example of how the show pays homage and respect to black pop culture (jazz, blaxploitation, hip hop, Prince vs MJ, etc)
The Prince vs MJ thing was nice. I love both. I'm a MJ guy though. I felt for Diamondback though. At that moment.
"Give my life for Trayvon to have one." Listen, Disney, we need more of this series.
the best part of the entire season
Yeah I absolutely agree with you bro :)
Yo, this nigga not playing, kick asses when it's need :D
As a hip-hop fan this whole show was perfection. This Cameo was just an added bonus.
As someone who never got into hip hop, this show made me realize there is much more to this genre than I thought.
Respect.
Syd Barrett Will do. Thank you for recommendation :)
J. Cole is also really good too if you're looking for rappers who tell a story.
Such an underated show.
"Already took Malcolm and Martin this is the last one" most powerful line i've ever heard in a rap song.
You should listen to more rap music then
Method man will Never lose his talent.
Method Man’s flow is fucking good
This s**t was - is FIRE!!! One of the best parts of Episode 12... The the whole series was on point, Luke Cage fan here, looking forward to season two... Method Man spit truth on this piece!!! Fiction or not, "AND HE A BLACK ONE!!!"
Swear Jar! :D
LM(butt)O... I said s**t, not $#!+... aaaaw, F**k it, where's the jar? LOL
Captain America would love to have that jar. ;)
Better than most sh*t out now but that Jidenna Long Live The Chief is even spicier
Got mad chills when Meth said, "We got a hero for hire & he a black one"!!
Method man killed it
I was hoping this will be the intro for season 2
That's genius. This needs more likes.
that would be sooooo goood
davante barbain Fuuuuuck yeah
I like how Meth is wearing Luke Cage's hoodie while doing all this
I'm so proud to be a part of the Luke Cage legacy 1:20 minutes in the video. #history
I actually can't stop listening to this wtf
Sick fucking episode aswell finished S1 last night hurry up S2!!!
OG
Twisted Insane I can't stop listening to this song. I wake up to it now
Dre Jackson you got me listening to it again now 😂👌
the bullet proof hoodies was beyond powerful and beyond Luke cage because it relates to what's going on right now in society. this show is epic. salute to the writers.
This track was so powerful and meaningful it makes you want to shed manly tears. Almost every person of color can relate to this.
method man and sway are technically characters in the mcu
0:43 "Who to call when no one obeys the law and there ain't no Iron Man come and save us all power to the people Luke Cage the cause and the cops got it wrong we don't think Cage involved!!!" Love that part!!! :)
"Can’t understand a man if you ain’t lived what he lived
Roaches in the crib, Ain’t got no food up in the fridge
Plus the crime running’ rampant and it’s screwing up the kids
Sway, admit - What kind of paradise is this?
I just want some 40 acres and some carats on the wrist
But these snakes is tryna gather in the pit
Where you get a cottonmouth plucking’ ashes off the clip
Off the rip, now a challenger exists
And he bulletproof, shoot, what kind of caliber is this?
Got thugs in the store with the barrel on your lips
Sayin’ “empty out the drawer” before he pound you with the grip
Lord, who to call when no one obeys the law
And there ain’t no Iron Man that can come and save us all?
Power to the people and Luke Cage the cause
And the cops got it wrong, We don’t think Cage involved
Look, dog, a hero never had one
Already took Malcolm and Martin this is the last one
I beg your pardon, somebody pulling’ a fast one
And now we got a hero for hire and he a black one
And bullet-hole hoodies is the fashion
We in Harlem’s Paradise tell the captain
That I’m about to trade the mic for a magnum
Yeah, cause this is bulletproof love
And you already know what a bulletproof does
So you can take it from a bulletproof thug
The hood got his back, dog
Bulletproof love"
Raphael Saadiq, Jidenna, Method Man. The Artists and songs they got for this show is just incredible.
Adam Osman don't forget Charles Barkley
sorry I ment Charles Bradley
This needs to be the new intro for season 2 (Yeah I know someone else already said it, but it's true!)
The original theme just so booooring i usarly skip :D
word it was good the first time or 2 after i was done
IAmDaDumb1 I agree 100 the show runner this the hip hop of the marvel universe. And his theme is not hip hop
that would be dope but unlike some, i actually like the intro for season one ... it keeps a bit of the funk from when the series was originally created in the 70s. But bulletproof love would be dope as an intro
I like how the person who originally said this has less likes.m
Method Man killed this plus the visual was amazing
Well, this looks like infect the whole internet.
When I uploaded this I diden't count so much interst for the video, I uploaded this just for fun, becoused I loved that song.
I can't belive that, the video is uploaded on Oct.2 and now we have more than 17000 view, it's just a fucking amezing!

Well said brother.
Torus202
Amen 🙌
Preach my brother
You right
Torus202 totally agree. Well said
One of the best moments. You can feel the black power. And I say it with nothing but absolute respect.
The series is Great. Like how they kinda reinvented and brought back Luke Cage.
Method Man is still the Greatest!
_Luke Cage_ is so necessary giving the time that we currently live in. This scene with Method is very necessary giving most of the mumble rap bullshit dominating the airwaves as of late. I love this show.
I listen to mr meths joint errday,it motivates me every damn day, never stop fighting!

This show was badass man.Getting to have love for superheroes and wu tang in the same show was something I've been waiting for since high school.
I am always a sucker for the scenes where the people stand up in defense of their heroes.
I love the node to trayvon martin
moment of truth, code of the streets, who's gonna take the weight, step in the arena, just to get a rep, suckas need bodygurds, manifest, blowin' up the spot, DWYCK, take it personal, now you're mine, soliloquy of chaos, you know my steez. took a while, but that was the point i fell in love with the show
I can't quit listening to this fucking song.
Luke Cage has one of the best soundtracks in TV history, at least for fans of the genre.
I'm not big on Hip Hop and even I dig this series' music.
This could very well be one of my favorite hip-hop songs ever! The lyrics get you fired up and I'm not even black! A fantastic show, a fantastic song.
Thanks for the video ! Amazing tune!! Harlem all the way
You're welcome :)
This song gave the series that sense of power and realism. The show went from 10 to a 1000 with Method Man's fire Fuck, we need Luke Cage on the real.
woow i love it !! really luke is here baby i hope we will see him in the movie
I haven't been a hip hop fan for a few years now. Luke Cage has a great soundtrack
Such an amazing song, daaamn!
Show was dope. Song was dope. Method was dope. Marvel at legends being born. Pun intended.
But, Methods best line in this, "Bulletproof always gunna come second to being black"
The beat, the flow.... Ballistic!
Method Man nailed it
I almost cried in this scene !!!

Very underrated.
Marvel always has such great music that always goes with the occasion, whether in TV or movies. I especially love the one to luke cage. I love the intro song, I love all the jazz, and the rap.
Dope Song for real ! Thx for sharing that ! My man
Killed it.
already watched this video about five times. method man so good on beat and this series got a lot better for the second half. stuff like method man popping up gave it a bit of a boost.

meth is dope. when I saw him in the episode I was like, o shit respect !
I will never forget the time I went to his live in paris. good times
This freestyle is deeper than you think
Making bullet riddled hoodies? Now that is a marketing technique that would work.
This shows the massive influence of hip hop, it is shown by the hoodies with bullet holes beeing given away in the shop
Fucking love this. Leave it to Method Man to wrap up whats wrong with this country in a two minute song. Bulletproof Love
love this song
My main man Method killing it
