I watched the 'live' rendition in front of a microphone on Luke Cage and just had to look this up, although I enjoyed the performance from Luke Cages episode better. Really colorful and cultural. I've enjoyed Luke Cage TV series a lot.

the song fit the moment in the story really well, the way that he kept pointing up towards cottonmouth when he said "long live the chief" it was a nice touch.
Nicely ironic also (as is the song in parts) considering what happens to Cottonmouth later. Luke Cage used music in the most interesting way of all the Marvel Netflix shows and showcased a huge amount of artists from different genres. It didn't stick to using rap or hip-hop all the time in a predictable way and I was impressed with the range of artists they chose. You had everything from Miles Davis to Faith Evans and Mahalia Jackson in there. It managed to use all that music to showcase the diversity of the setting and the people that have passed through it and still live there. I live in an area which is similar in London in some respects (although obviously it is different in other ways to) and Luke Cage felt like it was taking place in an inner city in a very intense way.

Yeah, I honestly thought he beat out Fisk (who I was never really a fan of tbh) for being the best villain in the MCU.
To be fair though, while they're not as good as Cottonmouth was, Mariah and Shades are shaping up to be fine villains themselves. And I haven't seen enough of Diamondback to make any judgement (I just finished episode 7 an hour ago) but I hear he's disappointing.
I like diamondback. Up until he throws on the armor and starts getting all feelsy with Luke, he is downright maniacal. during Obama you have experience more racial divide than during the last 50 years. And now silliness emerges like safe spaces for blacks, which is nothing short of segregation.
