I bought a 2001 ETC for $2000. It had 120K. That was 3 years ago. Still driving it, still turning heads, no engine issues. I love this car.

It's 11/26/23 I'm just now seeing this vid, luv'd it made me smile & reminese about my 2000 etc which I have currently in storage it is pearl diamond white & I love the car, my problem I'm about to have is I smelled coolant when I was putting it in storage, hope it's just a small mishap I'll check it out when I get it out in the spring, oh yeah one more problem was that radio, it comes on after 20mins once the car been running, I don't know what's that all about🤔 great vid I will continue to follow you thanks.😁✌
Beautiful man brought back memories of a lac I had a 95 cadillac deville concours green with light brown rag top fully loaded 32v Northstar sunroof white interior got it from a old lady who couldn't drive made a deal for only 5 thousand with a golf set worth over 5k in the trunk back in 05. The part you called the plastic timing gear is actually the water pump. Given the miles on your car you might want to check the condition of the drive belt. If it fails the car overheats almost instantly.
My grandpa bought one brand new in 2001. I can still smell the leather in that car.

There is a cool cassette to bluetooth device you can buy, that enables bluetooth, so you don't have to take any of the original stereo out. It's shaped exactly like a cassette, but it's bluebooth, and of course powered by the radio, l..but looking like you're playing a cassette. Just pop it in like a tape, and that's it! Very neat! : ) Great car BTW!

I have a Diamond White one with 83k original miles now. It's the ETC with every available option including sunroof and Bose cd with 12 disc changer and it still works amazingly.
Steer carefully. Magnasteer will go out in a while and there's simply no replacement. It was my baby and that's the only reason I won't buy it again. that and the variable suspension has to be rigged with aftermarket, but it works OKAY....
It was pretty neat that you could self-diagnos OBD2 from the A/C. Don't f*** around with it if you dont understand, but IIRC depressing the Fan Air Up and Rear defog simultaneously, lets you access the full diag screen. But do your research first. CAREFUL!
It will often show "service "whatever" system", but a simple restart of the car will usually fix it. Minor and common computer problem. It's so normal that they put it in the manual!
As far as the suspension goes, you can replace all 4 corners with good aftermarkets, airbags in rear, but capacitors on the macphersons in front to replace the variable ride control. It works very nicely really, much better than springs all round.

i'm a millenial and i don't need a backup camera or parking sensors, or lane keep assist or any of that crap. i drive a 2002 silverado. runs like a dream. lane keep assist is the steering wheel and my hands, backup camera, like you said i have mirrors. and i know how big my truck is i don't need it to tell me how far i am from something.

Super Dope! Consider acquiring a 17" rim to accommodate the new Red Stripe Vogue Tyres. 15" inch Vogues with the Gold Stripe would work however with those current wheels. Black walls... It deserves better.

11.5V while the engine is running is too low.
Probably your alternator is not pushing the adequate voltage out to charge the system, or maybe that battery is on its way out.

I would love to ride on one of those, but in Europe they are extremely rare. I never have seen one, and only 2 Cadillacs in my lifetime.

Beautiful car. I love my Cadillacs with northstars. I have an 02 Eldorado ESC and 99 DeVille Concours. Just a reminder the 2000+ cars aren't safe from HG failure until 2005. The bolt Length wasn't the issue it's the coarseness of bolt. Change out the coolant every year and you should be good so you don't corrode the engine. I actually bought both of mine with HG failure and fixed them with a product called thermalweld
Cool video, those are LLoyds mats with the optional vinyl binding very nice. I had a 2003 deville and one odd thing was how the DRL lights worked. You cannot turn off the drl during the day. However at night you can slide the twilight sentinal to off and turn off all forward lights, no parking lights nothing. It just tells you headlamps recommended, but lets you drive without any lights but only at night in broad daylight you can't.

My brother took over my grandfather 02 Eldorado pearl white. My grandfather took care of that car. To this day it's sitting at 13434 miles. My brother don't drive it much in fear of those Northstar crapping out. My grandfather owned 11 cars and he was a Cadillac man. I took the 67 Coupe Deville he owned and it's in my friends climate control garage.

Well thanks for information about the north star ive always stayed away because I believe it wouldn’t be reliable. Good to know the years to buy. I really like the caddy and thanks for going through it and sharing. Yea I agree don’t change a thing other than that paint correction. I mean I guess could keep the rims and wheels but get different ones but otherwise clean and fits you for sure.

Hey Bob, don’t know if you still have the eldo but a fix for that shift indicator light would be to get yourself a piece of transparent blue film, cut a thin strip of it and affix it to the instrument cluster over the PRNDL indicator and it will be green.
Blue + yellow = green

As soon as I bought my '02 ETC w/ 56k miles I noticed the HVAC box had basically crumbled so I put stick on insulation across it. A better look than spray on foam.

The eldorado's actually had a very intuitive computer system. I forget the exact sequence but if you hold the info and trip button or something like that on the D I C panel it will pull up a secret menu in the gauge cluster that will allow you to scroll through codes run Diagnostics and reset check engine lights. Also in the trunk attached to the backseat is the computer component I believe
