I only clicked onto this because I recognised the Brill 21E tram truck underneath the wagon.

Yet another gem. I knew about this service but was not aware that a special line was laid into the yard of the mill at Oakes. A very efficient way of delivering coal!

Excellent work. I remember steam locos crossing Leeds Rd into the gas works but that is another story. Keep them coming!

Wonderful memories. I was born on Whitestone Lane (after the trams had long gone !) but the tram lines were still there and we used to use them to race lolly sticks in the rain. My dad and grandad were both engine men at Hillhouse sheds so I knew it well. I also went to Beaumont Street School in the 1950's and seeing the Flyer, especially at playtime, was a highlight of the day. Wonderful nostalgic series of videos. Thank You.

Well this all makes perfect sense to me. Dirty old town? I would have rather walked around it then than now! Railways were originally built for goods not passages, and that was were the profit was. On some branch lines passenger stations were built as a secondary service.

Really enlightening. I recently got interested in the Staithes that were popular with the NER. Any history on those?

The remains of something similar to this can still be seen, or at least could a couple of years ago when I was last there, on the right hand side from a train just before entering Halifax station from the Bradford direction. There also seems to have been something similar near to Mill Lane Junction signalbox in Bradford, the point where the lines towards Leeds and Halifax diverge, South of Bradford Interchange and close to the site of the huge fire a year or two ago, but these are more difficult to see.
