The way I understand it and the way my nail tech does it is dip 3/4 of the nail the first and then the full nail the second time so it doesn’t build up too thick at the cuticle
I loved this video bc it is straightforward, each step is fully explained. It wasnt over explained and she didnt babble on endlessly like some of the tutorials. It was watch...learn...done! Thank you!
The printer paper tip was brilliant! I would have never thought to do that and what a wonderful way to recycle unused powder back into the container. Thank you!!
I love your method. I did dip nails recently for the first time and wish I had found this video first! Taking my true power back in how my nails are done.
@@oliviaandbella7126 nail career education is a great channel to watch you don’t want to buff the nail smooth before the gel polish you need to rough it with a 180 file so that gel polish can grip to the dip powder. Also using a gel base coat before top coat helps. When the nail is buffed it’s so smooth the polish peels off like a sticker literally within hours. I’ve done it 😂 but yea this helps so much. Her channel is great as I’m a nail tech myself and of course like we all do we learn and mess up and a client comes back etc we’ve all been there it’s no shame! Hope this helps sweetie! Happy polishing!
Perfect timing! I just bought a dip powder system! I can't wait to try it. Love the tip for using a clear gel top coat. Makes a ton of sense. Thank you, Juli!
I ACTUALLY don't like her method much. The gel polish over the top is a brilliant idea, however her application seemed very bulky at the cuticle even after filing. I'm a nail tech and I don't go all the way to the cuticle with each application. Try starting a small amount away from the cuticle and with your way up with each dip. Also, some of the dip colors will stain your natural nail so one coat of clear dip powder before you start the color dips really prevents that from happening if you are using over a natural nail without a nail tip over top. Finally, if you are having trouble with the finish gel that comes with the revel nail line not coming out shiny, wait longer for your activator step to dry before applying the finish gel and it will come out beautifully shiny.
I'm so glad I found this, because I tried to add the top coat from my new dip powder nail kit today just to fix one nail, and I thought it smelled like superglue and took longer to dry than nail polish. So long that I couldn't possibly not bump into anything and ruin the finish. I'll be using a different gel top coat!
Thank You! I just did my first dip set at home and I hated the top coat so much that I dug my uv light out and finished with the clear top coat! This is by far the best how to video I’ve seen
You could cut down a lot of filing time if you didn’t apply base and dip to your entire nail the first dip. Start about 1/4 of the way AWAY from your cuticle and side walls. Dip. Then take the base a bit further but still not all the way to cuticle and side walls. Then build from there with the entire nail being dipped. Just my tips as an at home nail enthusiast lol 🙈
@@hammypie yes, if you use a gel top coat it will need to be cured in a lamp. UV lamps are usually 60-120 seconds and LED lamps are usually 30-60 seconds. Depending on which gel product you get. If it’s truly “gel” it will always need a light to cure.
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing! I'm a beginner and it's all new to me. What is the process when nails grow out? Do you fill nails with another dip?
She uses an led polish that needs light curing instead of he dip nails top coat. Because the dip nail top coat takes too long to dry and isn't as shiny as a gel finish. 😁
Wow I’m glad UA-cam showed me this one 😂 tried round one and two on my own with dip powder and realized I needed some help, this was very useful and I like the gel top coat trick! I agree I don’t like the dip top coat and they NEVER DRY GOOD 😭😂
do you find that with this method of putting the full cover tips on with gel allows them to stay on? im always afraid with full cover that theyll pop off
Thank you for sharing these tips! Question, how do you do your dominant hand as far as the drilling goes? Is it possible to do it with just a nail file? Thanks!
Thank you for video!! You made me go out and buy the dip kit hahah! Your video really helped me do good for my first time!!! Only question I have is when I did my nails my base cost that you put on before the powder the brush got hard!! Did I do something wrong for it to go hard?
Ty, i am just about to try my first dip powder system i will be doing it over the weekend, i am happy you used full cover tips as i am planning on using full cover nails tips.tysmfs.
This was perfect Juli !! Just started doing my own nails, great tutorial....Upon putting on the clear gel top coat, do you need to cure it under the lamp or just air dry?
That looked so easy. I had decided never work with dip system, this video might have changed my mind. 😂maybe to only for myself and not for clients 😂 I still think it is not hygiene, not cost effective, as I never heard of someone having one product for each client, we have to sanitize everything that goes in contact with a client skin. You did a great job. Very simply explained.
Thank you for going step by step so cleat. I do have a couple questions, if you decide to use a gel topcoat do you have to cure them? Also as far as a lint free wipe can I use a alcohol wipe?
if you do normal prep,...like for prop adhesion for glue and/or acrylic then it will last...forever lol...I have thin nails so they intake more water and I still get 4+ weeks with apres dupe method
I absolutely HATE the top coat !! Will definitely be trying different gel ones next time. I use mostly iGel products, and just started trying the powders with their Dip system, instead of monomer & a brush. Well I checked the Dip glue and top coat ingredients and they are exactly the same ingredients.
I've watched many of these videos and you see them using a natural colour powder first before a colour. How come you didn't? This looks fab. Will try. X thanks x
Every time I try to shape my dips nails at the end like you did the color starts to file off and I’m no where near the natural nail . Is there a reason this is happening and what can I do to avoid this ? I also find that even though I’m fast with dipping into the powder it seems patchy .
Hi, so the base coat and top coat used in this video is the same product used for poly gel? I didn't know they could be used to adhere full cover nails, but I like that idea. Just wanted to confirm.
What if I didn’t apply the activator a second time after filing, could that be the reason that the are breaking? Also I did 3 layers of dip and it’s very thin…. Is there an optimal thickness that they should be?
Thank you for this amazing video! So helpful. I was wondering what to do if you mess up a step. For example, if your top coat is too thick or not properly dry, what can I go? Can I just use acetone to remove it and just repeat it? What is my nail is too thick after dipping or not done properly (too close to the cuticules or weird looking)? Do I have to start all over again? How do I go back and fix it once the mistake is already done? I cannot find this information anywhere! Please help! Thank you.
Thanks for sharing. 2 questions...can acrylic powder be used as dip powder? And is the base and top coat gel polish? Or not, cos I didn't see any uv light drying...
Have you ever had any issues with "dip flu?" Do you wear a mask? I'm masked, have my dust collector and do my dip in a ventilated area and I still get chest and nasal congestion that lasts a few days...:(
Beautiful, I have done dip powder at home, but I find its not hard on my nails and it chips the next day and starts crumbling, I apply it just like you did with the activator, and my clear gel top coat peel off a few days after, what am I doing wrong?
I have so many dip powders but I have yet to use them because I'm so scared I'm gonna mess them up lmao. I need to buy an edrill but I'm scared of that too :D wish me luck!
I have started to apply my fake nails using gel and I love this method, yes it a bit difficult to keep your finger on the nail to hold it down bu tit does work
Yes! The bits came with the drill. The sanding band was probably about a medium grit. I've used it more since this video and it doesn't cut through lots of layers as fast as the metal bits in this kit but it's great for smoothing out the surface.
The way I understand it and the way my nail tech does it is dip 3/4 of the nail the first and then the full nail the second time so it doesn’t build up too thick at the cuticle
