It is very important for an upholstery student to acquire basic information related to upholstery leathers on how it is obtained and manufactured.
This video will help us understand and recognize the types of leather used in car upholstery and furniture.
An upholsterer should know which is the leather that much better suits the customer's request or personal taste. By having a basic information a car or furniture upholsterer would be able to recommend which one is the appropriate leather material that would be purchased.
On the other hand, we have decided to improve the editing of our videos for the sake of our youtubers and interested people in learning this art. Day by day, we are looking for a better way to make our videos more enjoyable and understandable.

Hey, Cesar! Thanks so much for the really informative video on leather types. I was looking up more information because I’m trying to reupholster an antique chair with the most durable leather I can find, since I have a cat who likes to scratch it. She wrecked this chair, though it was already a project waiting to happen when I got it. I was hoping I could put some double-sided tape on this chair right where she likes to scratch without damaging the leather itself.
(Should anyone be wondering, the cat has multiple scratchers she regularly uses-just trying to deter her from the furniture I *don’t* want her to destroy lol)

It should be an upholstery leather for automotive purposes (top sealed pigmented leather, UV sunrays resistant).

Ask for Chrome free tanned, pre shrunk leather. It is tanned differently to seat leather to offer greater resistance to higher solar loading and UV rays that you get on the dash area.
