Wow, this is very intriguing, seeing the reactions of the lionesses and their curiosity towards the camera car! This is how we should take shots of animals. With a camera, not a rifle.
Would have put a car horn on it. When they all huddle in close, beep it and see how they react. Would also be useful for locating the car when it gets "stolen".
The best possible way to preserve wildlife is to make more people aware of it and give them more respect for it. Without nature photography like this, most people wouldn't care about wild animals at all.
Fantastic shots!!! The lions all looking right into the lens make you really 'connect' with the photos. Great to see how much fun you had in the process of making these pictures :-D
Fabulous photography and great music. Loved seeing the guys enjoying their images on the laptop in the firelight in the darkest night. What a wonderful trip that must have been, and so successful! Thank you Nikon too!
2:06 - Can we keep it? 2:12 - We don't even know where it came from 2:16 - I want it! 2:17 - No it's mine! 2:17 - Let's take it home, and then we'll decide 2:18 - Psyche! It's mine now, bitches! 2:19 - Hey, come back here!
Chris this is outstanding, thamkyou for sharing. The reactions of your assistants is also superb! You deserve to win a few major awards and open some new doors! your own TV program perhaps😊
probably the most adorable and amazing wildlife video I have EVER seen! Shows you that other than them being wild, they are still just as playful as cats! 2:04 kills me X)
Depends upon how big the RC Buggy would have to be. Anything close to their size, they will more than likely run away and climb to get away from it. Now, something mouse sized, they definitely would be curious.
Cats are cats, no matter if they're in the wild or domesticated like our house kitties are. As far as these lions are concerned the RC buggy is a new toy for them to play with...and act just like yours or mine do when I get them a new toy.
Just saying Judi, house cats don't much appreciate a remote controlled Gravedigger chasing after them. However, Hot Wheels cars, especially the electric racing track kind, they are very curious about those. Care to guess how I know this? Now just think if that camera was attached to an ATV that was remote controlled?
For any hunting dentists... this is the proper shooting device... this way someone else can also enjoy some amazing creatures. One bullet... one view... no bullet... no one misses out
Lioness selfies!! I love how they wanted to play with it so badly. I really really like the lion to the far left with the blind eye, she looks so old and wise and characteristic. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Thanks Jessica. Yes, she was an older lion and blind in one eye from a previous injury. But they were an amazing pride and one of the more successful prides we saw (they had just finished eating a zebra)...!
Lion King: "I trust that scratch hasn't made you useless." Hunter Lioness: "Hardly, my Lord. It's just an eye. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare."
***** It appeared to be the dry season. They pretty much are on the verge of starving the entire dry season. Only when the rains come and the grass eaters show up in huge numbers can they can really feast.
I believe so, and it looks like she has head injuries on that side as well. Which can happen when you're hunting. A kick in the jaw from a zebra is an automatic death sentence unless they can somehow get the lion to a vet, so she got off lucky.
Great job. I suggest you add a bad smell spray to this, then when they try to attack it, you fire ( and act as a skunk) they will get back. Or maybe you can add something like a noise or horn.
+Bens PK Sorry but the image quality of a GoPro is crappy compared to a DSLR. I mean it has 4k video but the photos are still kind of blurry and don't got a depth of field. Just my opinion.
DrunkMonkey23o4 More like one tenth the size and weight, but the DSLR is obviously going to provide better images. GoPro cameras are awesome and have their place, like connected to the cage of my 1/5 scale RC Truck, but I reach for the DSLR to get good photos of the elk and other wildlife that surround my home here in Montana.
The one who bikes it and pulls it away from the crew is a boss. Doesn't give a shit what the others think, knows his spot in the pride and runs with it.
Great footage; lions are awesome kitties. What's going on with that lioness with the blue eye? (1:553:533:57) I don't think I've ever seen a lion with (a) blue eye(s). Is that just a random mutation or is there some sort of trauma to it?
It's because people came here believing they were going to see a video taken from the perspective of the car so they could get a feeling of how awesome it would be to interact with wild animals and be the center of their attention and curiosity... then we just get several minutes of video OF the car, not from it's perspective. It's a good video, but quite a letdown when that's what you're expecting.
Hi Jorell, the still images from the buggy are at the end of the video, or you can see them on my blog site here. (I am a still photographer, so chose not to take video from the buggy itself as I was more interested in obtaining high res still images). Hope you enjoyed the video anyway. :-) beyondf8.com/the-life-of-car-l/
amazing !! Having the pride chase Car-L while in vid mode would be very interesting but just there curiosity in the stills makes you know what a curious cat they are.
The man at the start chris is my best friends dad and today car l was driving all over my feet and stuff! The most famous thing I have ever met! Ps. Chris hated saying all the cheesy stuff at the start, he is a super shy person
chris theres an article about your invension I read it when I was in 1st grade there was a picture of the lions looking at car-l well the article was about car-l and the lions so ya its really cool so ya L.O.L.
I don't watch wildlife stuff, but I would have thought that this "rc camera car up close to wildlife" idea would have been thought of years ago... It's not new technology by any means.
Wow, this is very intriguing, seeing the reactions of the lionesses and their curiosity towards the camera car! This is how we should take shots of animals. With a camera, not a rifle.

The delightful laughter and excitement of Chris and crew while viewing the captured photos, is as much fun as the photos are!
Gorgeous close up shots of the lions. They're so intense and beautiful.
TrueLoner Thanks, I appreciate your feedback. It was a terrific experience and one I won't forget in a hurry! :-)
TrueLoner they love new tecno
+ChrisMcLennan Next time some laser work also be very good :D
3:56 is seriously such an awesome picture!! So beautiful!
Besides all great photos, the most amazing is the enthusiasm with which of the guys enjoy the photos. Visibly, they're people who love the wild. =]
Thank you Nikon too!
this made me smile, their enthusiasm is infectious
It's cool to be reminded of just how wild house cats still are. The behavior is the same in many ways.
InfuriatedHawk They are yet to be fully domesticated unlike their canine cousins who are
You can really see the enthusiasm in those photographers, so nice to look at.
2:06 - Can we keep it?
2:12 - We don't even know where it came from
2:16 - I want it!
2:17 - No it's mine!
2:17 - Let's take it home, and then we'll decide

Watching that whole pride descend on it was pretty wild. Fantastic shots.
Great idea, and lovely pictures. Half of the fun was watching the photographer's reaction to what he got. :)
Great video, nice photos
Way better hobby then hunting animals
Funny how similar big cats are to house cats. I would imagine my cats would react the same way if that buggy drove up to them
Depends upon how big the RC Buggy would have to be. Anything close to their size, they will more than likely run away and climb to get away from it. Now, something mouse sized, they definitely would be curious.

That looked AMAZING on 29 inch HD monitor - Brilliant footage - BRILLIANT Well done
This is nice and all but I'm still not over the last video in the UA-cam Spoilers playlist...
atleast this will lift the sadness
The White Piano Key Productions Yeah, I'll be looking for donation links to spread around after I'm done watching this playlist.
Jarethenator what are you talking about
That was AWESOME...Incredible photos & so loved the cat with the blind eye.
Just big cats with new toy. :D
Great shots!
The lioness with the blind eye is so amazing! Love her pictures.
Perfect. I need it. The best use for my D800. Wonderful photos.
Thank you for the great hint Joanne Beauchemin
For any hunting dentists... this is the proper shooting device... this way someone else can also enjoy some amazing creatures. One bullet... one view... no bullet... no one misses out
Agree. :-)
lol this is a great comment man
Great great great....
I always knew dentists where evil.
Watching grown men giggle over their photographs is almost as delightful as the lioness' curiosity.
They're absolutely beautiful. I hope I can visit someday :)
They should have set it to video mode.
i guess video with nikon sucks. lol just kidding
***** Nikon 60fps @1080, Canon 30fps @1080 :p
how would you focus?
qdv3
Same way they did for the photos - they put it on manual and left it on a setting that works good enough for what they were doing.
leonardrou well yea but look at the market now, video=canon for dslrs
Incredible shots!!! They really are formidable the way they work in a group. You really are an amazing photographer!!!
This is awesome
I don't like your name.
Simply awesome!!!!! RC, Photography and wildlife, my three favorite things in life. CHEERS!!
Thanks for your inspiration!
Amazing work with lions. I am just LOVING THIS!
ahaha, the lion who took the little car is such a Troll xDD
Rfddtth
Darkenedbyshadows "Ha ha, I've got the toy and you don't!"
Great footage, thank you for sharing your creativity and your enthusiasm for all wildlife.
That was so cool Redcat Crawlers are good for anything ... Thanks for shearing the Pictures I loved them
That's one of the amazing most incredible thing I saw for a long time!
Fabian Maximilian Photography Thanks Fabian. :-)
동ㅁ뮬 뷰족해
This is pretty awesome!
Awesome. My 9 yr old daughter enjoyed it very much. Thank you! Amazing!!
BRILLIANT photos - *** remind me never to buy one of your used cameras on ebay! ***
Ha ha. thanks I do. :-)
Beautiful... The world needs more people like this guys!
Nearly all the great shots were taken by the other camera pointed at the RC car. Make me think the RC car doesn't really need a camera.
At first I thought the same thing, but there are a few shots shown at the end that made it worth it.
But you can't get the action of the lions coming right at the camera from just feet away.
I can't decide whether the curiosity of the lions or the sheer delight of the photography team was more awesome.
*Lion* "Hey Guys, Look! Its Wall-E!"
*Rest of Lions* " Oh yea, LETS EAT IT"
*1st Lion scared takes it away*
I knew those young lions would wreck the camera trailer. Same as little house cats playing with small objects of the same nature.
THIS IS HOW YOU SHOOT AN ANIMAL! not by using guns and hunting them, you use a camera to shoot their beauty!
axxsadsdshxrsgsjxer
Priceless shots. I don't mind risking my gears just like that by getting those shots. Truly amazing.
Lions get up close and personal with motorized camera unit. Awesome work *****
Thanks Patrick!
ChrisMcLennan you are welcome
Great you captured as well the joy experienced when the camera case was opened and the pictures first seen.
Lion King: "I trust that scratch hasn't made you useless."
Hunter Lioness: "Hardly, my Lord. It's just an eye. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare."
I just saw them discussing this with Chris on TV1s Seven Sharp so I had to check it out & am glad I did.
Anyone else notice the Cat with the bad right eye? and chomped left ear? looks like he has bad cut to right side of face that has bad infection...
I think it makes her look like a hard ass. Fighting for the pride. Has the scars to prove her worth.
*****
It appeared to be the dry season. They pretty much are on the verge of starving the entire dry season. Only when the rains come and the grass eaters show up in huge numbers can they can really feast.
That was Scar from the Lion King when he was young.
Great work. These are graceful beautiful creatures.
Chris.. Brilliant.. loved
amazing
This is amazing. What a great adventure. Thank you for sharing it!!!
The lion at 3:56 on the left, it looks like his right eye is blind?
her*
Blind or just blue? Can lions have different-colored eyes?
Maxwell Edison no
Ah okay, thanks for clarifying.
I believe so, and it looks like she has head injuries on that side as well. Which can happen when you're hunting. A kick in the jaw from a zebra is an automatic death sentence unless they can somehow get the lion to a vet, so she got off lucky.
Awww! They're such adorable curious kitties at heart.
they are so cute when they meet curious
...unless you're the one they're curious about! ;)
Oh how cool is that!!!!!! Thanks for the video showing your reactions!! Awesome footage. I can't wait to see what else you do :)
Car-L? Wall-E's distant cousin?
Yah
add an "s" in front of the "car-l"
I've watched this dozens of times.
It so amusing how these magnificent creatures had their curiosity peaked.
Kathleen Tyson Thanks for your support Kathleen! :-)
Agreed!
However just a friendly note, the word is "piqued"! :)
that one old lioness with the bad eye looked really skinny and kinda beat up. I felt bad for her but i guess that's life in the wild.
Excellent project, and love everyone's enthusiasm. Two thumbs up!
Great job. I suggest you add a bad smell spray to this, then when they try to attack it, you fire ( and act as a skunk) they will get back. Or maybe you can add something like a noise or horn.
yeah, maybe add a flamethrower too?
D4N1L01994 brb building this immediately
Comeon guys, it was a simple idea. He could also spray a bad smell on it, so that those lions wouldn't dare to smell or bite the buggy.
love the pic with all four lions looking into the camera!! So curious!!!
wow!!!
Muy buena idea y que buenas fotos
Están padrísimas!!!
Wow...sehr schöne Bilder...
Mit einfachsten Mitteln eine neue Perspektive schaffen. Genial!!!

Sorry but the image quality of a GoPro is crappy compared to a DSLR. I mean it has 4k video but the photos are still kind of blurry and don't got a depth of field. Just my opinion.
shr3d The GoPro is half the size and wight.
The lens makes a big difference, that's where the DSLR has an advantage over something like a GoPro
DrunkMonkey23o4 More like one tenth the size and weight, but the DSLR is obviously going to provide better images. Op je nu Zo GE NUMIK MET MIJ N??,,,,,,
MOOI O
Gareth Walton Gopro and dslr are made for different stuff, gopro is an action camera, it will never be at the same level as a dslr
Very, very, BUT VERY amazing. Great job pal!
Wow, this is awesome. :)
Pretty cool!
Highest resolution DSLR on the market and you couldn't upload anything better than 1080p30. Nice.
The lion on the left at 3:54 has a defiant pupil. God help us all.
Xcdss
+SMOҟE Zoo is my favorite!
+SMOҟE i thot i was the onlyne who saw that and was to ask the same but u just did that 4 months ago

I really liked your video. Great stuff! Thanks for posting.
The one who bikes it and pulls it away from the crew is a boss. Doesn't give a shit what the others think, knows his spot in the pride and runs with it.
*her
It's a her, there tends to only be one him, unless they are very young
Alpha as fuck.
This is amazing! Such beautiful animals, incredible to see them up close and personal like this :)
Very cool. How many little RC trucks did you bring?
Dave Katz Just the one!
Oh my god this is amazing, i love the photos, great quality too.
The lions were all, "Do we eat it?!"
OMG, this was amazing!!!! Thank you very much for sharing this!!!!
Great footage; lions are awesome kitties. What's going on with that lioness with the blue eye? (1:55 3:53 3:57) I don't think I've ever seen a lion with (a) blue eye(s). Is that just a random mutation or is there some sort of trauma to it?
blue eye? lol more like blind eye
I think she got hit or something. Looks like a wound to me
I can't see any possibility of NOT realizing it's blind while still being able to write articulated sentences.
***** Me like kitties but not now dem wel :((( I sory 4 no reelaizing kittie blind :(((
***** Smug as fuq
WOW!!! Amazing pictures. Your living the dream. I just subbed can't wait to see more.
1,000 dislikes...I don't get it!
That camera is HUGE, and this is amazing work and footage! :-)
Thanks Kendall A.
Kendall A thank thousand is your haters or members of PETA. You can't do anything around an animal and not be criticized.
ChrisMcLennan btw, I loved it! Thanks!

i just want to know :
how people can dislike the video ?
its just.....Amazing!
Meanwhile most of the pictures and the entire video is from just behind the buggy. LOL
Most of the pictures from the low height of the buggy are useless. Videos these days are mostly clickbait
ChrisMcLennan hey mate this was yet another amazing video you and you're crew have produced absolutely love it thanks for all your hard work
It's a great video! Batey title is all.
Absolutely beautiful! As wild animals should be observed!
Awesome job!
amazing !! Having the pride chase Car-L while in vid mode would be very interesting but just there curiosity in the stills makes you know what a curious cat they are.
Why didn't he film it???????
***** Because he does photography
pft.. you could have taken tens of thousands of pictures by filming as well
Lol, yeah, sure
They did film it. Did you not watch the video?
Miles Wright they filmed themselves not they didnt film the lions
The way the dudes reacted when checking out the photos was great
Last one is the best, looks like the lion is taking a selfie
Fantastic. Love the curious stares from the lions. What's next? Tank-H swimming with a hippo or Chopper-G circling the neck of a giraffe?
The man at the start chris is my best friends dad and today car l was driving all over my feet and stuff! The most famous thing I have ever met!

Guys, check here ↘↘↘(www.caowo.cc/),you will be sure to pull down your pants ,,wonderful!!!
Probably would have made Steve Irwins job alot easier........
Thats a LONG way from the great town of Invercargill.... nice vid, thnx mate
The one-eyed lioness has seen some shit.
Maybe half of some shit
Outstanding idea and shots!!
Way to think outside the box!
In the photo of four lions, the one left has some kind of eye injury. poor girl.
Little bit of fun?
This looks like *bucketloads* of fun!!
