I love your videos bro. I’m from Abbeville SC but now live in Atlanta. But please don’t promote this product. That club doesn’t work. It will click no matter how you swing it. The divot board is probably the best tool to give live feedback. That is a waste of money. I don’t want you to get a bad reputation from promoting that club. Proper hand grip yes but letting you know if you’re swinging it right. No…. I wasted my money on that. You teach well enough that that training tool want help anyone. Thanks for the content.

You've got a real talent for teaching. If only I found you 30 years ago. I've always been decent, but not happy with my game. Your advice / teaching technique has turned me into a consistent, happy, mid seventies shooter. "Life is too short to play bad golf." 😁
I sincerely appreciate your kind words and generous support, James, and I am very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you! Excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and enjoyment, and keep up the fantastic work!! 💪💪 Tom
I normally don't comment on videos, but ever since watching your videos and implementing your tips/technique I've added 30+ yards to all my wedges/irons and my shots are dead straight with crisp contact every time... (I have the trackman logs from the range to prove it too). Its literally ridiculous how easy you make it be to consistent in your swing and it legitimately is addicting when I can hit the ball consistently straight and far. Thank you Mr. Saguto!

Tom your videos have helped me more than any other teacher on UA-cam. Your driver video fully corrected my slice and I still can’t believe it. Thanks for what you do man and please keep doing it.

Hey Tom. Another BIG THANKS! Ok followers, get serious with the SagutoGolf simplified swing. It is transformative. I’m not getting paid to say this. Seriously! I’m a lifelong golfer and had had my fair share of struggles and conflicting lessons. Golf is not an easy game. So many variables. Tom takes out the crazy swing thoughts. All that stuff of dropping the hands. Crazy weight shifts. Rolling the wrists. Even Bubba Watson has a swing you should NOT try to emulate. Hands high, let it fly. BS! You’ve got to be a world class contortionist. I’m 70 and playing the best golf of my life. Thanks Tom.
One more.. AIMING my shoulder down on the back swing has been amazing. The key for me is to keep my head still, not sliding..also pointing my left knee slightly down in the same direction. Wow! At 70, hitting my drives 250 plus. Yippie
That is *AWESOME!!* 💪💪 I'm thrilled for your dramatic progress; you've obviously done an excellent job incorporating my instruction into your swing and putting it into play!! This powerful, low-maintenance, body-friendly swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of blissful ball striking up to and including at the game's most elite levels. Thanks so much for your support in sharing your success with it and keep up the fantastic work!! Tom
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Craig, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!! No worries as I had phased out in-person lessons awhile back so I could dedicate more time to my online school. I do, however, offer virtual private instruction and coaching as they are instrumental to the progress of my school's members. These are highly effective - as much or perhaps even more so than in-person based on the results and dramatic improvement my students are experiencing - and they can be done for any member from anywhere around the globe. You may learn more about these options here: saguto.golf/lessons As for the online school, thousands of men and women from across the globe spanning all age ranges and talent levels are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews For a good starting point, here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Thanks again for your support! Just getting back into golf after about 25 years. Still had same bad habits. Figured no time like now to attempt to completely retool my swing. The wonders of You Tube I found your instructions. Watched any i could find, then, this past Sunday found this one; it's like it pulled it altogether. So on Monday went out to a course I knew wouldn't be busy, and really focused on these steps, being sure to start easy. There were at the most 8 people on the course, so never rushed, I was able to basically use the course like a range. Absolutely floored by some of the shots I made. So today I meet a friend for nine after work at a real golf course. A couple 8s in the middle holes spoiled over all score, but I shot par on #2 (a par 3). On #3, second shot I hit a 5 iron 187 yards onto the green. It was a fairly tight green, I actually chose the 5 hoping just for the wider landing area in front of the green. I have to say it, that 5 iron shot was crispy! I have never hit a 5 like that. Two putt to par. I ended with a par on the par 5 #9 after a not so great drive, followed by two crispy irons, and a chip and a putt. Tom, I just turned 61 and I never thought I would hit shots like I have these last two rounds. You flipped my game around. There is work to be done, but it will be fun!
That's fantastic!! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! By the way, what I teach is a very body-friendly motion as validated by the fact that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you looked into the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. And here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and renewed enthusiasm, and keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom

A second great game. I am 77 year old and with a handicap of 11.7. Yesterday scored 40 Stableford points. If only I hadn't missed two eighteen inch putts😏
Indeed!! But unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎 Keep it forward, keep it crispy! TS
Had my first session at the range yesterday using your principles...….It was very hard for me at first to keep my weight forward at first, after being a swayer for many years....But I got used to it and started hitting some crispy, buttery, devasting drives and iron shots. I do feel like I take the club outside a little sometime, when concentrating on keeping my weight forward. Thanks for all the tip Tom!
That's fabulous, Eric!! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! With regard to your weight shift and takeaway issues, this is normal. Weird is good when we're trying to incorporate the necessary changes in the spirit of improvement. Much the same. Swaying can creep into my swing. Still play to a 9.6 hcp. Finally decided to give this a range session. Felt foreign at 1st (along with making sure glove logo pointed downward/toward ball). Finally started feeling the proper contact with a baby draw (always a fader). Took it to course the next day. Went par, double, double. Then it clicked. Finished front 9 same 4 over, only because I missed 3of 4 birdie putts (10-15 ft). The only one I made was 1 ft. Now a believer.
You are the best, practical golf teacher in the universe. Love your style and the simplicity and practical approach. I started golf this year and after watching your videos, my contact to ball is becoming crispier everyday. I am looking for details on the golf caddie you use to measure club speed and distance. Can you share the link where I can get it?

Hi Tom, I have been watching your videos now for several months and along with a few bumps my game has improved considerably from your tips. Lately I watched your video about pointing your left shoulder down and also about moving the shoulders and hips back and through, those swing tips helped my shot striking a lot. To improve I think it also important to really practice those tips. Anyhow I just finished the World Am here in Myrtle Beach and this year had my best finish ever, tied for 3rd in my field. Of course I was putting well which made a big difference but you need to get to the green first. Thanks Tom for all your great videos.

I am very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you, Vinayak; excellent job incorporating it into your swing!! This is tops.. a golden video, #1 magic for me is the tilt .. I had heard 'shoulder down' from friend's pro at CCC, but you explain it brilliantly; I started lifting higher again recently getting sloppy in my swing and taking focus off tilt, so than you for getting me back on track with your key pts here. I started golfing at age 9. I got pretty good. When I got married and had kids, I didn’t play much for 20 years. I totally lost my ability to hit the ball in the center of the face with any compression. Now that I’ve started watching these videos, I’ve started to hit my irons so much better. They are going high with a draw. Hopefully, I keep doing it.

I am more confident with my iron than ever before. Watched your couple of other videos about keeping the field even, slow down and shoulder relationship to the ball.. Thank You.. Just struggling with my Driver now.. Using driving iron that gets me close to 240..:)
I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following: 1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the driver as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, inhibiting any further necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices. Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA. 2) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".) 3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws ) Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!! I've had so many lessons I've lost count yet I haven't improved my consistency. Weight forward really is the key. I actually have a limp from that much practice but staying on my back foot. While I didn't shoot the lights out today I finished my round with less pain in my trail foot and my hip flexors don't ache from hip spinning my way around the course. My ball striking was greatly improved with only some minor face control issues (rolling forearms) causing me some trouble. Also focussing on left shoulder down made it so easy. Cheers big fella.

Went to the range today and implemented this. Irons, chipping, woods were great. Good distance and straight. Still struggling with driver but will come with time. One thing I noticed was my weighted leg feels so worn out after my session, maybe overdoing it with the front weight? Probably will just take some getting use to. Anyways, greats vids man. I’m no longer embarrassed to play lol
That's awesome, TJ! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Yes - it is quite possible at this early juncture that you may still be exaggerating the weight forward and/or you body is still getting accustomed to it. Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following: 1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. Thanks Chris - I'm glad you're enjoying my content! While this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing!! Yes, absolutely - provided you are going about it properly. The swing is a tilted circle (or arc, if we wish to get technical), the circumference of which extends from the ball to above and behind our shoulders. As such, if we are going to remain on that circle/arc it requires the hands and club to take a slightly inward path - not a disconnected snatch or roll to the inside - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference. The feeling of "straight back" can easily pull the golfer off of that preestablished geometry right from the start, and from there precise compensatory actions are necessary if there is any hope of returning the clubface to the ball on the proper path time after time. Here are some lessons related to this: - ua-cam.com/video/1gzcyrJ_yBw/v-deo.html - ua-cam.com/video/WxDD63quyk8/v-deo.html - ua-cam.com/video/ylVWSenTtOw/v-deo.html We create depth in this swing, and that enables us to harness the power of swinging on a circle through a seemingly effortless force known as angular momentum. I've been trying this for a few days. Once at the driving range I hit about 10-12 balls well with a 7 iron and a driver. At home I use wiffle balls and my results are very mixed. I think my main problem is keeping my left arm straight. I am still hitting behind the ball quite frequently. My grass at home is not real short lake a fairway, more like the rough. However I have to say that it feels like I have improved a bit.
I'm very glad to learn of your ball striking improvement, Robert! Consider the following possibilities for those fat shots: 1) Ball position is too far forward, 2) Hands are too far back at address (they should be in line with the inside of your lead thigh), 3) The swing center and low point are drifting backwards at some point during the motion (face-on video will help you determine this), 4) The downswing is steep and/or the path is out-to-in, 5) Early extension of the trail arm during the downswing (also known as "casting"), 6) Flipping/scooping through the zone. Though not an exhaustive list, those are the primary causes of fats, thins, and tops. By the way, always begin with the setup - in this case the first two possibilities - prior to diving into a swing intervention. I know it sounds like a strange concept to those who have only ever subscribed to a swing model that is based on shifting weight from back to front, but I assure you that this swing is anything but a reverse pivot. Yours is a good question, though, because it represents an occasionally misconstrued notion with regard to the swing system I teach, and as such I always appreciate the opportunity to respond and clarify. You start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. There's no "weight shift", and therefore - unless one were to fall backwards - there's nothing to reverse or pivot. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing. Thanks to you, my ball striking, carry, and accuracy have improved by an order of magnitude (still slicing driver, but... small steps). In previous videos you have endorsed the lag shot golf club, now straight stick. I have neither so far, is there one you recommend over the other, without considering which one you might have any partnership with?
If you are struggling with downswing path issues such as a steep/over-the-top move and/or early extension, then I might lean towards the Lag Shot. If you are more concerned about impact and ball flight, then perhaps the Straight Stick might be more appropriate. Having said that, there is definite overlap between the two products in terms of what they are capable of resolving, and they are both excellent training aids that work well within the swing system I teach. I hope that helps! Tom

Hi Thomas, As per my answer to Stephen, I would consider the Lag Shot to be primarily a downswing path aid whereas the Straight Stick is more of an impact condition trainer. There is definitely some overlap though. Tom

Well, either 1) your head is moving down as you tilt, meaning that you are likely deficient in the extension component, or 2) your shoulders are leveling out during the backswing, meaning that you are losing your tilt and relationship to the ball. Hi Stephen, I would consider the Lag Shot to be primarily a downswing path aid whereas the Straight Stick is more of an impact condition trainer. There is definitely some overlap though. Tom
I've said it once and I'll say it again, I wouldn't be surprised if Bob Ross is a distant relative of yours 😂 You have a perfect balance of being tremendously helpful and have a knack for taking something complex and making it simple. Anytime I have a stressful day, your videos help center me again. Love it! When you mention bringing the club back lower over your trail shoulder instead of being up so high like many videos coach, is that to help us move towards a 1 plane swing & remove the extra variables? Or like a 1.5 plane swing? Or do I have my non-exceptional glasses on & I'm overlooking something? Thank you for all that you do!
Yep - like Uncle Bob (RIP), we are still effortlessly and smoothly painting fairways and greens here at SagutoGolf…. 😎 I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!! This is technically a one plane motion. I think I've watched about 100 of your videos in the last week. Love the content. Ive tried keeping my weight forward at the range on my last 2 trips and I'm slicing my driver and long irons and chunking the short irons. Not sure what the issue is. Seriously considering joining your online golf school.
I’m not a pro, but I’m a par golfer. It sounds like you are swaying either backwards or forwards or both. Your torso must remain in one place and not deviate. Worked for me anyway. Tom even discusses this in the video.
@redghost3170 Thanks I will focus on that next time. I tried not to sway but I was also focusing on weight forward, tilt, a straight trail leg etc. I hit my irons decent with my conventional swing, just not as consistent as I would like. It was scary how all over the place I was today trying it this way.
I think your thinking is on the right track with regard to enrolling in the online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner. Embrace the system, embrace the process, and you will soon embrace ownership of a well-functioning swing and the resulting ball striking bliss it provides! Tom
Say there is a parking lot of cars in front of the 18th green, the fear of thinning the 2nd iron shot, is there a strategy you use to minimize a thin shot while still still keeping the chunk from happening?
If we swing in fear or are thinking "don't thin this one", then we are doomed before we even take the club back! Jack Nicklaus said that his primary thought when he faced a pressure shot was to execute a full shoulder turn. So, I'd suggest trying that while also making sure you stay centered and don't sway off the ball. Beyond that, the cars park there at their own risk, so it's not your problem... 😎 Tom PS: By the way, would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? Hello Tom, Great lesson by the way!! Is the ball position at the polo Logo as we know on your our shirt? Remember that logo? Was the club a Gap edge or PW in the video? Ur funny man I laugh and want to be Great at Golf😂😂
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it!! We first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective on ball position. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. Anything and everything I try just doesn’t work for me, I’ve decided to sell the clubs and find something different. Love your videos and teaching, I’m just so frustrated it isn’t worth it.
I'm very sorry to read that, Greg. If you have put your blinders on with regard to all the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting golf instruction out there and truly committed yourself to properly learning this powerful, low-maintenance, body-friendly swing system in the structured, swing step-by-step, position-by-position platform of my online school, then I suppose you can take comfort in knowing that you gave it your best shot. This looks like stack and tilt style golf swing back in the days I do set up with hip bump to my left side, it helps, but for me, in order to hit quality shot, i tend to slower my lower body just a tad on my down swing, I guess it’s more of tempo thing instead of technique
Hi Raymond, This most certainly is Stack and Tilt, and it is actually far more prevalent today than it was "back in the day". 😎 Here is the story of my "conversion": ua-cam.com/video/PM8lNNrMPEk/v-deo.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: ua-cam.com/video/m9qdPOzYUWU/v-deo.html With regard to "slowing your lower body", here is a lesson video related to that: ua-cam.com/video/I5XYgKopTb4/v-deo.html This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. Thanks for your instruction. It’s helping me hit the ball more solidly. However, everything you do is from a driving range or mat. How about giving some guidance about uneven lies, slopes, rough, etc. I find it difficult to apply some of your principles to these conditions.
I'm glad to learn of your ball striking improvement! he keys to playing a shot when the ball is below your feet are in 1) adjusting your setup to properly orient yourself to the ball (since it will be closer to you, your upper body will be angled more towards the ground than on a standard shot), 2) balancing yourself as you may need to feel your weight more towards the heels of your feet depending on the severity of the slope, 3) taking an extra club or two than you normally would from the given distance, and 4) aligning yourself with the expectation that the ball will fade. Once you are oriented, balanced, and properly aligned, you are ready to execute the swing as taught. Bump your hips forward an inch as you typically would so your weight favors the front side 55-60%, and when you take it back make sure that your weight stays forward and your shoulders do not flatten out as they turn, as they will have a tendency to do so due to their preset steeper orientation. In fact, a good thought for this shot is to keep the chest pointing down as you turn, since mishits from this type of lie are oftentimes a result of the golfer coming out of his or her tilt in the backswing. Conversely, a ball above your feet will necessitate having your upper body oriented for a less steep shoulder turn that allows the club to work more around the body, weight perhaps favoring the balls of the feet depending on slope severity, and allowing for a drawing ball flight. You'll likely need to choke down on the club a bit, and for this reason plus the curvature you may also want to club up for this shot, bearing in mind that the ball may tend to roll out more upon landing due to the draw spin. Once again, after making these adjustments you'll want to execute the swing motions as taught - weight forward, tilt/turn/extend, hands in, keeping your swing center intact. The short answer with regard to uphill and downhill lies is to 1) Match your shoulders to the angle of the slope, 2) Widen your stance a bit for stability, 3) Understand that an uphill slope is going to add loft whereas a downhill slope will reduce loft and produce more runout, so adjust your club selection accordingly, 4) Make a practice swing next to the ball to determine your swing's low point on that particular slope, and then address the ball so that the low point is just ahead of it, and 5) Do your best to keep your center intact as you swing since any swaying will shift your low point and cause inconsistent results. Hi Andrea, In this swing system we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs). We achieve this by addressing the ball "stacked", shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips 1" towards the target while keeping everything else in place. That presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship. During the swing we gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. The upper torso/head - and thus the swing center - remains in place during the increasing forward weight load in the downswing. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing. You'll be fine either way LOL! As I am telling others, if you are struggling with downswing path issues such as a steep/over-the-top move and/or early extension, then I might lean towards the Lag Shot. If you are more concerned about impact and ball flight, then perhaps the Straight Stick might be more appropriate. Having said that, there is definite overlap between the two products in terms of what they are capable of resolving, and they are both excellent training aids that work well within the swing system I teach. I assume you are referring to the Straight Stick? Did you make sure after you changed the grip that you tightened the nut securely? If so and you think the product is defective, you can reach out directly to Performance Golf at 1-800-523-5760 or support@performancegolf.com
Yes I made sure I to tighten nut but what does that have to do with it? its like your qrip moving on a regular golf club and does not line up with club face anymore @@SagutoGolf

Yippie
That is *AWESOME!!* 💪💪

You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.
Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and renewed enthusiasm, and keep up the great work!! 💪💪

Hey Tom Jonathan here, you have a blessing in teaching Golf Buddy!! I hope you can teach me in person some time. I want you to look at my swing and help
Hi Jonathan,
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
I had phased out in-person lessons awhile back so I could dedicate more time to my online school. At this point I'm not sure if I will resume them, but you can feel free to check back periodically see if I've reconsidered. However, once my schedule permits I most likely will again be offering virtual private instruction and coaching to my school's members to assist with their progress, and this can be done for any member from anywhere around the globe. You may learn more about these prospective options here: saguto.golf/lessons

A second great game. I am 77 year old and with a handicap of 11.7. Yesterday scored 40 Stableford points. If only I hadn't missed two eighteen inch putts😏
And the wt forward, absolutely magical!
Indeed!! But unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎
Keep it forward, keep it crispy!
But as the crispiness builds in the weirdness tends to dissipate.
Thanks so much for sharing your ball striking progress and keep up the great work!!

Hi Tom,
I have been watching your videos now for several months and along with a few bumps my game has improved considerably from your tips.
That's AWESOME!! Congratulations on a very successful World Am!! 💪💪 I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into competitive play!!

Great tips...I feel d improvement already. Thnx..
Can u pl advise ..what is d difference in swing for long irons...?
I am very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you, Vinayak; excellent job incorporating it into your swing!!
It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html

Also, really? This is the first demo of Straight Stick convincing 🎉 and I must have it.. have an old weighted stick w/ grip, but I need more.. thanks ( and for other magic videos!).

Yes - we must remain diligent. Those ghosts of "shift & lift" swings past are stubborn and they don't give up without a fight. The Straight Stick is an excellent tool for your arsenal to keep those demons at bay. You can get your Straight Stick here - rb.gy/j3a6q

Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following:
1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact.
(A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".)
3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )

Playing with my fly down today in your honor.
😂
I am honored! 😆😆😆
That's fantastic, Rob!! 💪💪

Hi Tom been watching your videos for a while now absolutely brilliant!, Do you keep ball position the same for all irons ??
Thanks Chris - I'm glad you're enjoying my content!
While this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape.

Tom really great video instruction here. Thank you. Tom i wasn't aware you were in Myrtle Beach, the best golf trips of my life have been to Myrtle. How are they looking now since the hurricanes ? And the closed a couple of the best ever, Glen Dornoch , I heard Oyster Bay ? Caledonia is like a mini Augusta, Pawleys, and so many more. All the best as always Tom.
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your ongoing support!!
All is fine here, and the courses are still fabulous. We may get some tropical activity this week that could put a little damper - so to speak - on the Myrtle Beach World Am. To my knowledge Glen Dornoch and Oyster Bay are still fully operational.

It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.
I am aware that many folks out there believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver.
For these reasons I do not advocate trying to hit up on the ball, and efforts to do so due to erroneous advice has caused many an amateur significant issues with their driver.

Tom, I've been working on trying to have deep hands in the backswing to eliminate steepness, do you think that's a good feel to have?
Here are some lessons related to this:

We create depth in this swing, and that enables us to harness the power of swinging on a circle through a seemingly effortless force known as angular momentum.

How do you fight the tendency to reverse pivot on the downswing if the weight stays on the front leg for the backswing?

I started putting some more weight on my front side, and my contact has improved, but the ball flight is much lower. Is this normal?
It is to be expected at first, but as you get accustomed to the new feels your trajectory should normalize. If it does not then we can explore the possible causes.
For now, enjoy the improved ball striking and keep up the great work!

@@SagutoGolf thank uou

Tom how do I stop my head jamming into my shoulder in backswing seems to happen every time I put shoulder down my head moves as the shoulder hits it
Well, either 1) your head is moving down as you tilt, meaning that you are likely deficient in the extension component, or 2) your shoulders are leveling out during the backswing, meaning that you are losing your tilt and relationship to the ball.

This looks like stack and tilt style golf swing back in the days
I do set up with hip bump to my left side, it helps, but for me, in order to hit quality shot, i tend to slower my lower body just a tad on my down swing, I guess it’s more of tempo thing instead of technique
Hi Raymond,
This most certainly is Stack and Tilt, and it is actually far more prevalent today than it was "back in the day". 😎 Here is the story of my "conversion": ua-cam.com/video/PM8lNNrMPEk/v-deo.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: ua-cam.com/video/m9qdPOzYUWU/v-deo.html
With regard to "slowing your lower body", here is a lesson video related to that: ua-cam.com/video/I5XYgKopTb4/v-deo.html
This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers.

Keeping weight forward feels like I'm de-lofting (and my lower ball flight agrees) - any advice?

Hey Tom, just out of curiosity, what do you usually shoot for a score playing 18 holes?
Low 90s
I really don't get to play enough on a regular basis to bother with maintaining a handicap, Brian, plus it wouldn't do me much good as a pro since I'm not eligible for any amateur tournaments at my club. I did get out the other day and was +3 with a rusty short game lol.

CRISPY KFC !!!! How you liking the PXGs ?
Love em'!!

I'm dying on the intermission pause for the zip 😂😅
LOL - Yeah, sorry bout that.....😆
What % of your weight should be on the front side?
Hi Andrea,
In this swing system we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs).

Dangit, I just ordered lagshot, and now you're telling me to get a straight-stick?
You'll be fine either way LOL!
As I am telling others, if you are struggling with downswing path issues such as a steep/over-the-top move and/or early extension, then I might lean towards the Lag Shot. If you are more concerned about impact and ball flight, then perhaps the Straight Stick might be more appropriate. Having said that, there is definite overlap between the two products in terms of what they are capable of resolving, and they are both excellent training aids that work well within the swing system I teach.

Got this done like it' it is junk only used it a few times when I noticed the grip moved holding a neutral grip now the club toe points behind me I am pretty sure this is not right!
I assume you are referring to the Straight Stick? Did you make sure after you changed the grip that you tightened the nut securely?
If so and you think the product is defective, you can reach out directly to Performance Golf at 1-800-523-5760 or support@performancegolf.com
Yes I made sure I to tighten nut but what does that have to do with it? its like your qrip moving on a regular golf club and does not line up with club face anymore
