    The "men are this, women are that" type of speech is even worse than the "manisfest / energy / vibration" bs. It's so, so, so, so, so dated! And it's really ironic that everything he said about women seems to fit him quite well. A sad episode of "do you even hear yourself?"

    • @thisisforvids
      @thisisforvids 4 роки тому +3

      No wonder it is a dated message. As other have mentioned, Ash did a poor job plagiarizing this segment from Mark Gungor, a Christian pastor deemed "relationship expert". Except, Gungor has no qualifications, and so, his 'teachings' are in direct contravention of the current literature/scientific findings (AKA: sexist and wrong).

      Manifestation can be legit, but people use it is a marketing ploy for their tapes and crap. It's also just used by, usually, rich white people to say "you're poor because you didn't imagine and journal hard enough", which is stupid and inaccurate. Really sad that the community is seen as crap because of some stupid people.

    • @wilhelmneovius
      @wilhelmneovius 3 роки тому

      Ash just seems like a tool and takes those things too literally, but men and women having different natural tendencies is never a dated concept, because although the society has evolved in recent centuries and decades, humans are biologically the same as they were 2000 years ago.
      Male brains are usually better at systematizing and female brains better at empathizing, and men usually rely more on rational thinking in their life and women more on how they feel about things. You can also see that in the MBTI personality type distributions of the sexes. 70% of women are F (Feeling) types and 60% of men are T (Thinking) types. But we also see that 30% of women are T types and 40% men F types, so it's not like all men are logic driven and all women feeling driven. You should note, though, that even men who are F types are usually more aggressive and competitive than most women because they have more testosterone than women, including the women who are T types.
      In occult or esoteric teachings they do talk about masculine and feminine energy, and there are masculine and feminine traits. You could say that some man has a lot of feminine traits and some woman a lot of masculine traits, and I wouldn't mean it as an insult if I said so. I myself am a man who has much more feminine traits than an average man, and my MBTI personality type is INFP.

    I totally agree, I hate the use of feminine and masculine terms. Humans are fluid and change easily, it doesn't need to mixed up with being more like a man or a woman. Because all genders share the same traits. All genders can be assertive, all genders can be emotional.
    Thank you for finally saying it!

    • @muchograndeyolatengo

      To me it's not about what words you use but what your intensions are. As a hermeneutic I often find the postmodern fixation on language troubling, because it cuts down and reduces the human beings behind it all (Foucault called it "the death of the subject"). You are not changing anything by constantly changing the language because structural changes will just form new dominant structures and new groups that are being stigmatized. It's an endless loop. The real change comes from trying to understand people around you and breaking down stereotypes by trying to get access to the subject *behind* the language. This also means not trying to knee jerk react to certain words or sentences being used by people around you.
      Obviously I disagree with Ash's intentions here. But I would be open to a Jungian psychoanalytic breaking down masculinity/femininity in the terms of anima/animus for example.

    I just wanted to say- everything you said about masculinity and femininity... I had an extremely disheartening conversation with a sexist man the other day who was very rude and condescending to me. He told me I had to be drawn to manly men because I needed a real man with me to have babies. He told me I had ridiculous beliefs, that I was a political idealist, and I must be living on a different planet, and he told me that the emotional health of men didn't matter and it wasn't normal behavior for men to cry. Some of this was in response to me bringing out the statistics about suicide being more common in men despite more recorded mental illness in women, as well as simply trying to explain that women aren't just running on instincts about having babies, we do have brains that can think. I didn't enjoy him trying to telling me what I want. I didn't think it would, but hearing you echo my own thoughts, it started to really touch my heart after such a horribly saddening conversation the other day. Thank you.

Honestly, that's the first time I've heard anyone take on those terms in a relationship context, and I have to say that I came away feeling good about not needing to apply those terms on the different areas of my life.
    I also echo what you said about Ash and that there's sadness behind the facade he's presenting to everyone .I feel for him, because it's highly likely he has not walked on the path toward that sadness/pain. If he did, I think he would come through the other side emotionally stronger. I think he would also get to know what he really values as well as be compassionate toward it rather than shaming it.

Like there identical, that’s why it was sooo awkward because he was trying to retell a comedy skit in a serious seminar

    Thank you for that eye opener! I would say I'm more emotional, not too assertive, and such, so I have struggled with this masculine feminine thing for a while. I have been told that leading and dominance is attractive to women on average. But thank you for clearing up with with purpose. This was a huge sticking point for me for a long time since I was young. I totally agree that we should get rid of these words.

    Wow im gonna start watching your videos. I always thought i was attracted to more dominate men or "masculine" men but you are so right its the purpose that people are attracted to, a man who has purpose or a woman. This was mindblowing for me, thank you!

    This video randomly popped for me and I gotta be honest my hopes werent high. I have yet to see or meet a dating/relationship/life coach that I didnt hate and strongly disagreed with everything they said, until now. Im not sure what your work really is, or what you really do YET, but you mostly mention all the things that most of the time make me really upset about coaches. I annoys me to hell when they make sweeping ''it is known'' statements, as a psychologist and a psychotherapist in training the first thing you learn is you know very little and everyone is a unique person, and you need to let them guide you where they need to go, have as many hypothesis as you can so you keep your mind open, etc.
    Honestly you gave me a lot of hope that maybe someday therapists and coaches can work together and be able to help people together. I havent found or met one in my town yet but you gave me hope.
    Thank you. All the best.

    *The way you talked about masculinity and femininity was amazing.* I've always wanted to study psychology when I get to college and I was so amazed and enlightened at the way you approached the subject. I also agree with what you said about masculinity not having any effect on women and that it's only often used by families or societies because of tradition or peer pressure. Thank you for educating people (including me) through your channel ! 🥺✊💓💓💓

    I could argue about his point of there being an equal mix feminine and masculine traits across the genders since there are differences in our biological structure that tend to make a difference in how maybe of these traits each gender will have on average but I don't see the point in arguing over that since I agree with his main point which is to Ignore prejudice, no matter what it's based on, and just see yourself and others as who they are and not what they are

    In psychology, the term masculine and feminine are traits shared between both sexes. It's just that "typically" men exhibit stronger masculine traits. That's why masculinity is often associated with men. But by itself, it does not mean "male". It's just a trait. One that can be measured similarly to intoversion and extraversion. If you take certain personality tests, you might find the strength of those traits measured.

    Hey!
    New subscriber here. I was not expecting this topic of conversation to come up but I’m glad you did. I constantly have battled with myself re. my identity and what it means for me to be a woman. I have actually hated being a woman because of growing up with males and seeing early on, how they were treated differently to me. I’ve had to compete in male dominated environments in science in the past but left. I am however vulnerable and emotional as well as straight talking when I’m passionate, logical (when not emotional), a leader, a carer, teacher, “mother”... I’m so many things I’m even confused.
    I’ve always felt so bad for being who I am. I haven’t even discovered who I really am yet and what deeper qualities I hold. I haven’t dated in years because I’ve been trying to figure myself out whilst being under a lifetime of differing pressures from religion, males, females to be a certain way. Ive isolated mostly but feel I’ve had to be someone I’m not to be accepted but it makes me so unhappy.
    As you talked it did make me think...masculinity and femininity are qualities. I carry qualities that the Wild has defined as masculine or feminine but I carry those qualities in a female body, and because of that, I am treated differently.
    I really wish I could get more help with this but I thank you for your ability and passion to genuinely discuss this.
    I don’t want to feel shame for wanting to be successful. I have held myself back because of expectations from others or even, little expectation of me. Very destructive forces working to shame people on their identity.

    I lovvveed this video.
    Important point-
    Words are just signposts to indescribable experiences/feelings. Like the popular Bruce Lee quote, “It’s like the finger pointing to the moon. Don’t focus on the finger or you will miss all of the heavenly glory.”
    We all tend to get lost in words thrown around by society and our perceptions of it. Worse is grouping lots of beautiful unique personality traits into blanket words of masculinity and femininity. Creating for us, unnecessary forced standards to measure ourselves against. It’s just another ‘label’. Truth is we are all our own unique combination of traits that we must preserve.
