I started a Moving Labor Service, Feb 1st 2024 was my first day of operation. It’s been 7 days and I’ve completed (1) job and have (4) quotes, waiting for approval.

@@bradboisvert4892 brother, I had to turn the phone off! I’ve been networking with other owner/operators to share the jobs I can’t book.
I use wardrobe boxes and Amazon mattress bag. They make a big difference. I use the wardrobe boxes for small loose stuff. They save me somewhere between 5-10 trips because I don’t need to keep coming back for them
Those $20/hr for extra employee costs are gonna be a problem in a state where minimum wage is $16. Once you add on taxes, insurance, and workers comp, you're gonna be in the negative.
Then you just have to charge more... Do you know how business works? Provide value. If competitors are undercutting you, find out how they are doing it. Perhaps market to higher-end clients. Specialize in white glove service. There are SO many opportunities to make money.
@@av7062 Yes, I do actually, I own multiple companies. I was pointing out that unless he's paying his employees cash under the table, those calculated costs are off.

All I gotta say. You gotta raise your prices. There's no way you are making any money at 115/hr for 2 men. We were charging that in 2014.

Short turnovers are the way to go. My friend used his truck on the weekend for moves. NOT everyone is moving a whole house at once.

@@robc7484 Moving some purchased furniture or moving a partial move - 2 hours to get in & get out. Some people move into a short term rental & leave the rest in storage.

Start a demolition company .. buy real estate
These are rogue movers. Unlicensed and uninsured. No website. Nickle and dime you. Truck too small for anything more than 2 bedroom apartment. They are operating an illegal moving business paying their crew under the tablet o avoid taxes.
