10 Minute Watercolor Poppy - In Real Time!

- I recently showed how to paint these poppies in a short form video. This is a pretty quick painting, but not as quick as the shorter video makes it.
There was one comment on that video that stuck in my head about timing with painting, so here is the video in real time, no speed ups, and the only cuts are for during setup or when I dried something. This will hopefully help you understand the timing of when I placed things down and how long I waited. Keep in mind that this might differ for you depending on how wet you paint, the paper you use, and your climate. The best thing you can do for yourself if just practice and start to understand how to "read" the level of wetness so you know how the watercolor will behave. If you're just getting started that can feel intimidating, but I promise it comes with time!

I do find myself trying to go too fast because of watching so many sped up videos even though I know they are sped up. This is a beautiful card 🥰

Thanks so much for doing a poppy flower video in real time. I've always wanted to learn how to paint my own poppy bouquet because my grandparents had a lovely oil painting of poppies. It will be fun to play with a hopefully :) simple watercolor version. Since red happens to be my favorite color I can't wait to hang it on my kitchen wall. Sometimes doing things more loosely and quickly can have fun effects, other times slowing down gets more of a desired effect. I hope you enjoy this one if you decide to try again in a less rushed manner.
