Aaron thanks for the video, as the manual isn't worth the paper it's printed on. The only thing I would recommend, is using a ratcheting wrench on the bleeder nut. I just finished my fluid change after watching your video. Thanks again!
@@aaronstractorstuff7521 Well, I should have explained why (brain fart) I put my finger through the end of the wrench so I could find the dang head of that plug since you can't see it.
@Bruce Smith exactly! You can't really see the stupid thing! Lol!! That's why I put the video on here because I couldn't find any myself so I talked to a mechanic and he showed me how to do it but I'm not sure if I did it exactly like they do but it worked!! 🤷♂️
If you buy the Hydro-Gear tyranny oil change kit, it comes with the oil, filters, a vent plug adapter, the hose and a pump that screws into you oil bottle so you can pump the oil in through the vent plug hole.
What size in the vent plug bolt? And how did you access it? Having a terrible time. Have another mower with the same 3400 hydros and it's much easier. But the hose and plug are flipped on the other mower. So much easier that way.
There is a safety switch connected to your PTO and one under the seat. Sometimes one of them is bad and can cause that but I'm not a mechanic to know for sure but you could look into that. 🤷♂️
I didn't do that. I read that in the manual also. I did it the same way with my other Ferris and neither of them had any problems. I don't think it would be difficult to do that but I didn't.
@@aaronstractorstuff7521 oh okay. Thanks, i didnt know if it made a difference or not, also i just did the change yesterday with brandnew oil obviously, went out there this morning and the little bit in the reserve tank was black already? And the mower was not even started from the time i changed it to this morning when i went out there, everything seems to work fine , but just didnt know if it was normal or not?
@@aaronstractorstuff7521 okay good. Well thank you so much for the video , i just followed your video and it made the job much easier, thank you ill keep an eye out for anymore tips and ferris mower videos from you!

Thanks so much for this video...had no idea there were filters in the hydraulics!

I bought a gallon bucket pump and I just pump it into the vent plugs. It's a lot faster.
Great video,
How many engine hours did your machine have before the oil change?
@22k203902 it had 100 hrs on it the first time and then the manual recommends every 400 hrs
The pump cost around 6.00 dollars.

I am wondering if it works without opening the bleeder. Maybe just linger?

I don't remember what size it was but it was on top of the hydro pump. It's hard to get at.
Now that it's been months since you did the hydro change does the machine still happens to work great after the change?
Still works great!
Frankly I’d be alarmed if my hydro oil came out looking black like diesel engine oil. Yikes. Is that normal on those integrated units?
Yes....that's normal I guess. That's what the shop guys told me. They all look like that. 🤷♂️
hello aaron's my ferris turns on fine, but when i try to turn on the blades,it shuts off, could you help me?

Do you do the air purging this the manual mentions to do or is the mower good after just whats shown in the video?

@@scottyut8282 I've noticed that too. It's darker than the oil from the engine it seems like. That's normal I guess. They all do it as far as I know.

What kind of filter?
I got the filters from the dealer. They can get you the ones you need.
Do they Only have 1 filter
One filter per hydro. 2 filters total
What kind of oil again?
20w-50 motor oil is what is recommended. I use Kinetix brand oil.
How often do you lube the heim joints? Do you pressure wash your desk?
Not sure what you're talking about. I don't pressure wash them.

The reason your filter was not lining up was because the camera was on. Those things are built like a tank. Full watch Aaron.
😆 Exactly! They are incredible machines! Thanks for watching Gary!
