Killer idea that I am going to do. thanks for the ideas and showing the mounting of the battery, I have been struggling on how to mount the battery until now. cheers.
I did this with an old offbrand battery powered sawsal. Worked great. Made my own connection. My mom found the sawsal and put it in a yardsale and sold it and called me for where the battery and chargers were when i was testing the fit on the bike. Had to give up the batterys
Ride.Enduro little tip that helped me...comment as much as you can on other channels of similar interests or content that you follow. By sure odds other people will click on your channel, the new Algorithm sucks and tends to favor those who already have a gigantic sub count, the way around it is through the comments 👍
Ride.Enduro this idea of yours is fuckin genius and helped me add a light to my yz 426 (which is a VERY expensive modification when done “right”) ...adding lights shortens power but it’s not drastic and I still get tired before the battery does 👍
local enterprise broadcasting I’m glad you found it helpful. I am literally editing an updated version of this video now that should have a much better production value to it and a step by step how to including tail light. This was one of my first videos! Thanks for the tip too.
Brilliant solution. I watched this video and then was in the hardware store and noticed Dewalt makes a conversion plate to go from Nicad batteries to Lithlium ones. This might be the perfect base to slap a light and powerful battery into. It does get expensive buying a charger, battery and adapter plate, but I can't think of a better system. Well done in your case.
kuladeeluxe thanks! We used it all winter without fail! My only concern is ruining the battery if I drown the bike on a river crossing or something. But Im playing with the idea of putting the mount into a small dry bag.
brilliant set up dude i run a battery in the yz250 air box witch works front and tail and brake lights but iv got to say yours is a better set up hats off to you im going to change mine to the same set up as yours is mutch better we do a lot of night riding in the winter in south wales uk and we love it keep up the good work dude and happy riding and stay up right and be safe.
Awesome idea but I think I am going to see if I can get a 12volt drill battery so I can use a regulator which then allows the stator to charge the battery.
Cheyne Souza I used a couple gear clamps to fasten the light bar mounting base to the handle bars, but the trick to get the light to stay in place is to find a piece of pvc or plastic pipe with the same or close to the same inner diameter as you handle bars. Cut the pipe in half to fit over the top of your bars and then file or sand a flat spot on the top of the plastic pipe to sit the base of the light bar in. Then it won’t twist around the bars. I’ll do a more in depth video series Of the entire setup.
Brian Lewis yes, when you buy the light bar check out its voltage rating. The one I used on my bike can run up to 30V, look at the specs. These lights can be found all over amazon and EBay. www.amazon.ca/Willpower-Driving-Off-Road-12V-24V-1800LM/dp/B01L3J531C/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?crid=3R9Q7QEQ44GN6&keywords=6+led+light+bar&qid=1556563794&s=gateway&sprefix=6”+led+&sr=8-8
Awesome idea! I have a old makitas and about 15 batteries. I can definitely hook this up. Looking for something like this for my vintage Honda with no battery. I am assuming that the light is not 18 volt though. Does that matter?
ahhha.sweeet! I am running out to my shed and you just gave me a great idea....! I have a bike that has a similar set up (YZFX) - but I am thinking of a battery I already have that might work (9.6V longer & thinner) that I have - that 'might' work, as I already have a battery under the seat. :)
I found these same lights on Ali express. 10 bucks each to the door and free shipping. All kinds of cool lights n switches n shit made in china on that sight. Love the underseat battery idea. I put 2 of these lights under the rear bumper on my superduty. Holes are already there. Just had to run a switch n Power. Awesome for loading and backing up the 20 flatbed trailer
Amazon prime sells a 52 inch 300w light bar for 89 bucks can. I run one on my superduty and one on my KENWORTH. 3 years on the superduty no issues or fog up. Hard to beat that. The small light works well with a 7.2volt old rc car battery too. I run one on a norco rampage single speed i built for night rides after work. 1 inch angle iron drilled 2 holes. Use the ahead set top cap allan bolt to hold to the bike. 2nd hole for the light bracket.

Dave King amazon or eBay 6” LED light bar spot pattern. It can run 12-30volts I believe. I now have a constant on tail light hooked up too. DRC phantom tail light. I am planning on doing an updated video, keep tuned.
Hey buddy! I just came across this video and been thinking about doing this on my show blower.... do you remember how many watts your headlight is and how long does it run with that 5 ah makita battery.....thanks
eddiekytia I believe the light is 18w, as most of the 6” Light bars are. My battery is only 3ah. I left the light on in my garage for 5+ hours and it was still going strong. Total run time, I’m not sure, but a 5ah would get you through an entire night.
campbell wem yeah I’m sure it would run fine. Being that it’s a bike light probably? It’s most likely meant to run on 12v dc, I’m not sure what 18v from a drill battery would do to it. Also the main reason we use the LED lights is the draw is very minimal thus enhancing run time on the batteries.
I use milwaukee and carry a 12volt adapter. Run a 10foot usb from it and have a wire thats split and has a usb male on the end. Plug the 10 footer in from my backpack and maybe run a foot and a half of slack. The usb mape is hardnounted so if i crash and fly off it just unplugs the usb
TirolYoungRiders I cut the bottom battery mount plate off the base of a broken Makita drill right at the end of the handle. Used the wires that run from the battery to the drill motor.

Yup. Real tough lights. Mounted 2 under the rear bumper on superduty as backup lights. Been on there 5 years now. Ontario salt still has not made them fail. Thats pretty impressive. I've found a cb antenna mirror mount for transport trucks works really good for mounting these lights between the bar clamps. I switch out the bolts and clamping plate to a small u bolt. Holds really good. Just some mounting ideas for those who read comments.
My buddy and I use a speed demon 6"flood/spot in his YZ. We require front and rear lights here in Alberta so we fabed up a bracket that sits above the air filter to hold a small motorcycle battery and runs over 8+hours half charged

2 gear clamps around the base of the light mount and handle bars! We found a piece of plastic pipe with the same inside diameter as the bars, cut the pipe in half so it sits on the bars and then filed the top of the pipe flat so that the flat bottom of the light mount would sit on it nicely. This helps the light to not spin on the bars. I can do a quick vid to show this.

Jonathan Halabi just get yourself a suitable switch and wire it into the positive wire that runs from the battery to the headlight 👍🏻

Would you loose power blocking up the airbox ?
If you don't have a old drill you can use a USB charging adapter for 18v battery it's 7£ on eBay !
