Counting Flowers on the Wall is a must listen 😊
A real tear jerker from them is "More Than A Name On the Wall"
My favorites of the Statler Bros. are gospel music--"Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and more.
Love their song "Class of '57"
My favorite!
Mom’s favorite group. The one “with the deep voice” and the lead singer are actually brothers (but their last name is Reid). The other two were classmates in school. I’m so happy you enjoyed this. Their music brings back very happy memories for me. ❤️❤️
My mom as well. In the 70s she would paint while we were living in Germany my dad was a soldier. My most precious song memories with this group. Thank you. ❤❤❤
Some I wrote...
"Elizabeth" "Too Much On My Heart" and "Do You Remember These" are three more great ones from the Statler Brothers amazing catalog!
Too Much On My Heart really showcases their harmony
@@joshuaparris6710 Yes in deed
Flowers on the Wall is probably their signature song and is one of the coolest tunes ever.
Flowers On The Wall, Class of '57, and Do You Remember These, are just a few of their best. The lead singer and the bass singer were brothers.
Bed Of Roses is my favorite Statlers song ❤❤❤
they were/are a terrific group! i love their songDo you Remember Those
The class of '57
One of their biggest hits was Counting Flowers on the Wall. Also check out The Wall.
Flowers on the Wall and Do You Remember These are two must hear songs from them.
For many years.. the Most awarded Act in the History of Country Music
I love The Statler Brothers!
Oh the memories! On the radio, on the turntable, on my mothers lips !
Thanks for a trip! I miss her!
The Statler Brothers are LEGEND in the Country Music World. Great harmony. Great pick. Wonderful reaction Harri. All of their songs are great.
Harri, Shout out to,...Harold Reid ( 8/21/1939-4/24/2020) the bass singer. Always liked "Counting Flowers on the Wall" and " Do You Remember These" Nice reaction 👊🏾
Oh my gosh, Harri, I am so happy you are reviewing the Statler Brothers! They are one of my favorite-ever groups! My mom was the world's biggest Johnny Cash fan, and the Statler Brothers were a regular part of his show. Please do much more of them!
"The Class of '57" is one of the most meaningful songs ever.
Next up,
Flowers on the wall
Do You Remember Those by the Statler Brothers is a fun and great song!❤
Counting flowers on the wall
If you've seen Pulp Fiction, when Butch drove back to his apartment to get his watch, Flowers on the Wall was playing in his car.
One of my all time favorite country groups.
My Mother’s favorite group!! She loved Harold the deep voiced singer. The class of 57 was her favorite song, it was the year she graduated but she loved Flowers on the Wall too. The group’s name came from a box of tissues in a hotel room. They didn’t have a name and the place that they were going to play that night called and wanted a name to put on the marquee. They saw the name on the box of tissues, gave him that and the Statler Brothers were born!
Harribest….. Don Reid was lead singer, Harold..his brother was bass vocalist. Harold sadly has passed away.
This song speaks to love in the most relatable way. It could be the first time you felt the feeling or the last time you reminisced on a love that has endured. It ranks pretty high on my all time list.
The Statler Brothers have a lot of great songs to explore.
The lead singer, Don Reid, and the Bass singer, Harold Reid are brothers. They said when trying to pick a name for their group, a box of tissues names Statler brand was sitting there and decided to use the name. A great song by them is Name on a Wall about names on the Vietnam war memorial wall.
You should hear them sing Flowers on the wall. And they have many many great songs.
Harold Reid (bass) Don Reid (lead) were the brothers. Lew DeWitt had the most distinctive voice on those high harmonies and rare to see him without playing a guitar in a performance. Phil (sorry can't remember his last name) rounded out this fantastic quartet. Great song. Oh, and theybchose the name Statler from a box of Statler tissues in the record companies office.
Phil Balsley.
When Lew DeWitt became unable to perform (Crohn's disease), he retired in 1989 was replaced by Jimmy Fortune.
@@DougRayPhillips Jimmy is still out there killin' it...check out his supergroup named 'Brothers of the Heart' ua-cam.com/video/1Yb-mtsljr8/v-deo.htmlsi=cxdCJ7k_NlBqD59Z
Harold and Don are brothers, and Phil was married to their sister. Their final concert is on You Tube.

The Statler Brothers and The Oakridge Boys were the two HUGE male ensembles in country music in the 70's and 80's. Lots of great songs by both groups, Harri. Thanks for sharing thi one. 🙂
Two of them were brothers, Harold and Don . Harold has passed. They were Country Musics biggest group for many many years Hundreds of awards. Fans around the world. Lew became ill an was replaced with Jimmy Fortune . Many great songs. Flowers on the Wall one of their biggest hits. Back up group to Johnny Cash for 8 years before they went out on their own.
Great choice!
Counting Flowers on the Wall is their biggest song. Must listen "playing Solitaire 'til dawn with a deck of 51"
Great group! The Statler Brothers were a country music, gospel vocal group formed back in 1955. They also sang as opening act & backup singers for Johnny Cash from 1964-72. Their 2 best known songs are "Flowers On The Wall" & "Bed Of Rose's". Other songs are "Do You Know You Are My Sunshine?", "Elizabeth", "My Only Love", "Too Much On My Heart etc.
Some of the greatest of Country Music
the lead singer on the far right and the bass singer on the far left are brothers. Don Reid and Harold Reid, Phil Baisley and Lew DeWitt. were the original 4. after many years Lew left the group and Jimmy Fortune took his place as the tenor singer. look up their song he wrote called "Elizabeth". if i am not mistaken it was their biggest song. but they have many many songs over the years !!! the name Statler Brothers was taken from a brand of tissues called Statler Tissues.
They had their own TV show at one time. I think some of their best songs were released later in their career when Jimmy Fortune joined the group.
❤❤❤❤❤
"Elizabeth", beautiful song by them.
Elizabeth and More Than Just A Name Upon The Wall Statler Bros
Harold Reed (bass) and Don Reid (lead tenor) are brothers. They have so many wonderful songs. "More Than A Name on a Wall", "Bed of Roses", "Junkie's Prayer", "That Summer". I have all their albums and they have great songs on each one that never got air time, which is a shame.
The "Best of the Statler Brothers" album cover was a picture of their wives....
Classy
One of the top acts on the television variety shows of my childhood ❤😊
Enjoyed your reaction! Try, CLASS of 57. AND FLOWERS ON THE WALL IS A GOOD ONE ALSO!
Go down this rabbit hole so much good music. They did the Holy Bible Old Testament and New Testament you won’t regret it
Only 2 were actually brothers! Fantastic vocals!
it was basically just guys coming together. The one with a very deep voice passed away from cancer about a year ago. But they have many good songs. You should listen to more.
Their song My Babe is American made is a banger
That is a good song, but it's sung by the Oak Ridge Boys, not the Statlers.
lead singer and the bassman are actual brothers Don & Harold Reid
This one was written by Don Reid (lead singer)
Statlers were big. Even had a TV show. Used to host a "Happy Birthday America" celebration the 4th of July weekend in their hometown of Staunton, Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Try "Counting Flowers On The Wall" for fun.
I saw them in concert years ago. They got their name while sitting in a motel room trying to book a gig, and while on the phone, they were asked, what is your group name? One of them saw a box of tissue on the nightstand called Statler Tissue. He told the man on the phone they are the Statler Brothers.
"Counting Flowers On the Wall" next please❤
This was a great shout, Annie!! I remember watching them on the Mandrell Sister's show, my dad was a huge fan - they're definitely worth a deep dive, Harri, some great suggestions in the comments ❤️
Try their HUGE 1965 hit, "Flowers On The Wall"
Oh my brother. They have been around forever lol. I saw them in concert with The Bellamy Brothers and, Larry Gatlin
It was still possible for what is basically a barbershop quartet to have a hit in the ‘60s. 😂
One of the best bands ever.
I’m familiar with the Statler Brothers but had never heard this one. I love the harmonies. Nice request and reaction. Thanks Harri and Annie 🌺✌️
I recommend "Susan When She Tried" and "New York City."
try "Flowers On The Wall" by the statler brothers..good stuff!!!
The lead singer and the deep voiced singer were brothers ❤❤
No they aren't brothers. I grew up listening to them. Such great harmony. ❤
These guys are from my dad's hometown of Staunton, Virginia, USA. I play bass and have sat in with Jimmy Fortune who was with the group a little later.
I discovered them while staying with my father - and it recently occurred to me the record could have been my step mother's; but I still like them
Check out "Flowers on the Wall" great stuff.
Great group
Love the Statler Brothers. They have many hits. If you want to hear a couple fun songs;
"We got paid by cash" tribute to Johnny Cash
"You can't have your Kate and Edith too"
"Counting flowers on the wall"
Lew DeWitt had to leave the group in 1982 & was replaced by Jimmy Fortune. Lew DeWitt died in 1990. They have soBBL many great songs.
They backed Johnny Cash in the 70s.
Try the song Daddy Sang Bass Momma Sang Tenor, The Circle Will Be Unbroken live with Johnny June Cash Stadkers and even Mother Mabel Carter
Love them❤
The lead on this song and the bass are brothers.
Two of them, Harold (the bass singer) and Don (the lead singer) ARE brothers--last name is Reid. Unfortunately, Harold died April 24, 2020 at age 80. One of the others in THIS video tenor Lew DeWitt died August 15, 1990 at age 52. Lew was replaced by Jimmy Fortune, who stayed with the group until their retirement, in 2002.
If this is your first taste of the Statler Brothers, you are in for a treat. BTW, They retired and played their last concert in 2002.
"Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott", "You'll Be Back (Every Night in My Dreams)", "Hello Mary Lou", "Daddy Sang Bass", "Do You Remember These", "The Class of '57", "Flowers on the Wall"
You mean to tell me you've never heard of the Statler Brothers? Flowers on the wall don't ring a bell. I am flabbergasted. One of my moms favorite songs was ''The Doodling Song'' . and my Dads was ''This old house'.' Being in construction most of his life i can see why that was his favorite. So many songs , and so little time.
Ah! But you have to remember we only had a single 1 hour programme dedicated to country music on BBC radio in the U.K. in the 1970s! Wally Whyton’s Country Club . I was a weird kid who loved listening to it and was introduced to all sorts of music and performers that my school friends were totally unaware of, but even so I don’t remember the Stadler Brothers. And as for a Harri, he’s too young even for that …..
Harri, you could listen to a different song by The Statler's every day for a year and never repeat yourself! I've been to see them in concert many times and they have always been one of my favorite Country/Gospel groups of all time! Please react to any of the following; "Grandma", "We Got Paid By Cash", "Elizabeth" - well, anything by them is listen-worthy! Thanks for this one! BTW, Don and Harold Reid (the founders of the group) - the lead singer and bass (respectively) are brothers.
😊😊😊😊😊
Whew dawgies! Awww yeaya! Love from Richmond Va ☘️🇺🇲
The Statler Brothers were formed in Staunton , Virginia . From 1964 until 1972 they opened up for Johnny Cash and also were back up singers for him . Johnny was a mentor to them and gave them their big break . They wrote and sang a tribute song to Johnny Cash for being their mentor called “We got paid by Cash “ . I grew up in Virginia and saw the Statler Brothers live quite a few times with my parents . The Statler Brothers always put on a great live show .
I'm from Harrisonburg Va., right down the road and have wonderful memories of free Statler Brother concerts on the 4th of July at Gypsy Hill Park when I was a kid.
I saw the Statlers live in 1983ish, I wanna say. Enjoyed it very .much. Reba McEntire, who I don't recall you reacting to yet, opened for them. Reba liked to open for the Statlers and also Cknway Twitty when she was getting started....
Two of them, the bass (Harold Reid) and lead (Don Reid), were actually brothers. Their sons perform as "Wilson Fairchild" and keep their dad's music heritage alive.
Try "I've Never Lived This Long Before". Funny ending
Listen to Counting flowers on the wall
Listen to their song titled “more than a name on a wall “ it is terrific !!!
New here. I love all there songs, but one of my favorites is "Elizabeth ". Thank you for the video. Brings back memories from years ago. Deme in Bama.
The lead singer Don Reid and the Bass singer Harold Reid are Brothers,, the other two Phil Balsey and Lew Dewitt are childhood friends
This is the original lineup: brothers Harold Reid and Don Reid, with Phil Balsley and Lew DeWitt. Dewitt was forced to leave the group in late 1981 due to health reasons. He was replaced by Jimmy Fortune.
The guy at the top (Lew DeWitt)had to leave the group in 1989 due to health issues and was replaced by Jimmy Fortune who was with the group until they retired and now is singing on his own. He wrote a lot of their later songs.
Harri, if you weren't a fan of country music before the 90's then there's no reason you would have heard of them. I grew up on groups like them, The Oak Ridge Boys and later Alabama and The Statler Bros & Oak Ridge Boys have a plethora of gospel and country music hits. Of The Staler Bros., some of their hits I'd recommend would be "Flowers On The Wall", "Do You Remember These?", "The Class of '57", "Bed of Roses" & "The Official Historian of Shirley Jean Berrell" just for a start.
They also released a couple of comedy albums under the name Lester “Roadhog” Moran & His Cadillac Cowboys. Really funny stuff.
Harold and Don Reed, Phil Balsley and Lou Dewitt (later Jimmy Fortune took his place), only Harold and Don were brothers. I live in the home of the Statler Brothers, Staunton Virginia.
We have good friends from staunton va, his favorite is "Elizabeth"
I always felt a big difference between the Statlers and the Oak Ridge Boys was that the Statlers tried more to blend amd harmonize and the Oaks sometimes sounded like they were trying to over sing the other
More Statler songs: We Got paid by Cash, More Than a Name on a Wall
2 of them are brothers
Try England swings by Roger miller
The name Statler came from a box of tissues.
Only two are brothers.
Dude!! You are circling the genres!! Just scanned your channel and you are still lacking a TON OF stuff!! 2 examples;

Two of them are brothers...but their name isn't Statler
