- Today I review my personal VW Atlas demo! I switch my car out every 4K-5K miles so here are my honest thoughts after driving this car for a few months. This is one of the most popular mom cars on the market right now and I can't wait to hear what you all think of it.

Here I am... addicted to car reviews now lol
Same here 😂
Same
Yeap 😂
Same
Literally just told my husband this!
We got one a few months ago.. best decision ever. The selling point was the car seat friendly 3row access... we opted for Captain chairs vs 2nd row bench... but that’s just personal preference.
First time seeing a review so in depth. Most reviews are just comparing luxury to luxury. I appreciate you showing car seats, stroller storage and just being able to maneuver around them. Great video I'm a subscriber now lol.
so happy you enjoyed it! thanks for subscribing!!
I just bought my Atlas SE with Tech last week. Exterior white, interior Beige. I like the space between rows. Panaromic sunroof is awesome. Heated seats are great.
Great video! I love seeing the mom perspective. You've got a great idea making these videos with that in mind and your channel is gonna really grow! I got to drive the Atlas for a week and as a dad..it worked great in every aspect. Carseat could fit easily, cubby space in the front is great, and cargo space for the stroller and other stuff was perfect. Nice work! 👍
Hi, I am wondering how many car seats do you have in your Atlas? How do you manage them? Thanks!
I just bought the VW Tiguan and love it. I’m not a mom so I didn’t need something bigger like an atlas but I loved the simplicity of the dash.
Thank you for an AMAZING review of the Volkswagen Atlas!
I just was told about your UA-cam channel. This is the exact car we got except the cross sport. We are obsessed with it. It’s such a great suv. We drove a dozen and keep coming back to VW for all the reasons you mentioned. I loved that blue too. I think it’s the best of their colors plus my hubby always wanted a blue car.
Love it
Just bought a SEL Premium R line...... love it!!!! Tourmaline blue with beige.
I have had an 18 Atlas for the last 4 years and everything you said is spot on. I'm actually considering going a little more luxury next SUV but I'm so iffy about 3rd rows since Atlas is the best 3rd row and trunk I've experienced.
As another Atlas owner - this car is a blast when you have kids!
Thank you for this review. My husband/me just got the Atlas! It’s an awesome family suv.
Awesome choice! hope you enjoy it!!
really like the videos and have been considering the vw atlas. this really helped! thanks again for the content.
You have no idea how helpful your videos are! You show everything so nicely and REALLY know the cars.. thank you!!!!
this means so much to me! thank you!!
@@TheCarMom I hope your channel keeps growing you deserve it!
My wife has an Atlas and we have 2 under 2 as well. She has a black/black with black wheels SEL. She absolutely loves it and the captains chairs make 3rd access easy and me as 6’ tall man fit comfortably.
Love your humor with the weather. You’re killing it Kelly! Keep it up!
hahaha thanks for the support!
Also from one mom to another, keep rocking!
Definitely one I’m considering!
Huge selling point for me was how simple but nicely simple the Atlas was. It’s my mom car and i wanted easy to clean, especially with small kids and dogs.
K I love this girl..FABULOUS reviews, I could care less about car seats kids all grown up now but still only really care about comfort and looks of a car ergo why I love her reviews!
Love the third row access even with car seats! We opted for captain's chairs and have our toddler in one and our newborn in the other. I've been (comfortably) sitting in the third row to be able to help calm our newborn, as needed. So easy to get back there with the tilt feature! This car wasn't even on our list until I saw your recommendation. We visited the dealership after seeing you talk about it and ended up buying it two weeks later because we loved it more than anything else that we had seen. Thank you!!
Aw I love to hear that! So thrilled its working for your family!
Great! I had a 2019 SE and now a 2021 SEL and both are great suv extremely comfortable of you have kids, congrats on your purchase
awesome! Car Mom is a national treasure and let's us know what REALLY matters!! horsepower, powetrain...V8/V6..i dont know or care about those lolol
Great to see this! I just traded in my Tiguan for a 2021 atlas with the captain seats in the second row ! We have a baby arriving in a couple weeks and I’m glad to see it works for you.
Could you do older suvs for moms that can’t afford brand brand new cars?
prius v
Toyota Highlanders 2014-2017
Honda pilot 2014 to current
Toyota CR-V
Those are all reliable used vehicles for moms
Kia Sorento great vehicle
Exactly!
WOW! thank you Rachel Cruze for the shout-out on the Ramsey show because I learned so much from this video!! Very helpful to hear from a mom's perspective. I've LOVED an ML350 4matic for ten years, but I am starting to research (and save for!) a replacement... We don't need a third row, but I have THREE friends with this vehicle so thought I would check it out.
We sold our 2019 Atlas and got a 2022 Acura MDX tech package (mostly my wife's day to day car). I miss the road trip space of the Atlas, but I really like the more sport/luxury feel of the MDX. We just have to pack lighter! I for one do not miss the touch screen. It was always dirty with fingerprints. I like the touch pad interaction of the MDX. I now have some Atlas Crossbars for sale for a fraction of dealer cost!
This was a really informative video. Thank you! I agree, Atlases are fantastic SUV's.
Can an adult sit comfortably between 2 child seats is exactly what I have been looking for no other car reviewers seem to cover that. Thanks.
Loved this review! The atlas is now on my list!
LOVE to hear that! its a great one to consider :)
I would love to see some reviews of some of your favorite midsize SUVs but in a model that's a few years older for those looking at used!
LoL at the rain and husband phone call but the review was well put together and straight to the point. As a parent of two young kids (5 and 16months) I’m also looking at cars from “mom perspective” as well so thanks for the comprehensive review and trim level/pricing also. 👍
Thanks for watching!
Excellent reviews! I own a Nissan Roque 2018 considering to purchase this one! Thanks so much! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
You choose the best car and I love it.
6 months ago I purchased an atlas 2018 and it is the nicest car.❤
I currently drive a 2020 Tiguan with three rows and definitely will consider the Atlas for my next car. Great video!
love your VW loyalty! both really awesome cars
I come here way too often to see your reviews so I finally subscribed because I’m always here anyway! Lol great reviews and content especially for mamas
thanks so much for subscribing!!
Please do a review of the ford explorer and the traverse! Thanks for the awesome reviews!
As a mother looking in to replacing my Mercedes suv I love these videos very in depth 🙌
Thank you for the great review!
Oh man this is exactly what I needed! A mom review, have a Tiguan right now and it’s tight with one baby so I was leaning towards the Atlas. I’m SOLDDDD!
Also killing it momma looking smoking for 10 weeks PP 💣 💥
Ah so happy you found this helpful! Thanks so much:)
omg it's tight? I have a Tiguan and thought it would be a good car for kids.
Just discovered your videos and love them! One quick suggestion. While raving about the cupholders, please show them. ☺️
hahah yess appreciate any and all feedback :)
Great review, I keep seeing these all over the place and they look just like an Audi Q7! I am for sure buying an Atlas I love it!!
They are exactly the same as the Audi Q7. Audi is VWs high end brand.
Just bought my atlas 2 days ago and love it!! I got the s model but still love it 😍
congrats!!
Just got the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas 21.5 SE. In love!!
Have you had any issues? I’m looking at buying a used 2021.5
@@alyssao7276 no I haven’t. My only complaint was when gas was super expensive and it cost me $60+ to fill up. But gas has dropped. I’ve had no issues with this car. Still love.
@@Truthwins1107 thank you so much for taking the time to reply!
Been bouncing between this and Lincoln MKX. You just sold me!
Sooo roomy! We bought one yesterday and love it!
Congrats! Love to hear that!
...very good demonstration .... learned a lot, ... considering purchase .... Thank you
This is my dream mom car! But gray with black rims 😍😍😍
I’m 5 10 maybe 5 11 and currently can’t not set in my charger comfortably or safely with my kids in their car seats as one is rear facing in an infant car seat. Before when I just had my son he could set behind the passenger but now I have a second child and it’s time to let my charger go.
I love your videos! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I worked at the VW plant that made the Atlas in Chattanooga TN. My job was driving them off the line was so fun.Was a very nice SUV.
Matt B. What do you think of the reliability and mechanics of the Atlas. Example, Easy to repair? Will it last for 80,000 miles or more?
@@ashcash1005 it is a great suv. Yeah it should last way more than 80,000 miles just keep the oil changed
We've always had VW and love them! We need a 3 row SUV - a 4 year old and a 2 year old...and maybe another in the near future! We test drove an Atlas today and really liked it. Thoughts on bench seats vs. captains chairs. I always liked the idea of captains chairs, but I noticed you seem to prefer a bench. Love to know why! Also, have you done a Pallisade demo yet? We are also looking at the Telluride and Pallisade. Would love to know how you'd compare those 3! Thanks! Love your videos!
She always says the bench style gives you an extra seat
I LOVED my Atlas. I had a 2018 SE, AWD, 6cyl. I averaged around 18mpg (drove on ECO mode except in snow. That snow mode was a lifesaver in northern Midwest winter!). The 2018 was a boxier model and mine had full roof racks, making it look rugged and outdoorsy. The tilt seat was great for third row access, but not good for school drop off once our third daughter came along (oldest is 9, then the babies were newborn and one for reference). We had the bench third row, and I didn't want our toddler reaching over to the newborn, so I didn't install a seat in the middle. To get my nine year old out, I would have to get out, get the baby out, then let my older one out of the back row. I needed her to just hop out, so she ended up in the front seat (DO NOT DO THAT. YOU WILL GET DIRTY LOOKS FROM THE SCHOOL STAFF IN THE DROP OFF LANE.). We ended up getting a 2022 Toyota Sienna, which my daughter can easily get out of and was a dream on our summer road trip.
Great review but would help SO much more if you’d show stuff when you talk about it (you spoke about how great the cup holders are and never showed them or really any of that middle console part) not sure if you had a different person filming this one bc normally you’re great about showing every detail
Kelly, what do you think of the remote start? Does VW have an app that can do this now? I had a 2015 Passat and I felt like the remote start only worked when you were right next to the car, which obv defeats the purpose. But due to the size and price I’m really considered this vehicle for my next lease! Love how big and roomy it is!!!
Would you go with a 2020 or 2019, if that means you could go with the SEL Premium? How different are the different years? Thanks!
I am planning on getting this as my DadUV. Thanks for the cool review.
Pretty good coverage in your video. Thorough.
I’ll say this, SEL trim is the only way to go with this SUV. Non heated steering is no good if you live in the North.
Hahahaha crawling into the center rear seat...very “mom-ish” ! Hmmm....Gosh I wish we had these when our kids were young.
Nice job Car Mom.
Just bought this car. 2021 3.6 se/tech r line. Love the look.
Came across your comment. Were thinking of purchasing this exact one pre-owned certified. Worried about reliability. How is it 3 years later?
@@vickynguyen3252 not one real problem. Just cruise control software, other than that. Perfect.
Great video! Who's best to talk about an Suv than a mom😄. 👍
Every 3 row should have this system for seats, and proper middle one. Only hybrid power is missing in Atlas. If VW do minivan with third row as big as in oddyssey - perfect for big families.
I love the Atlas!
If you can't have the G-Wagon than yes, this is surely an awesome car for you b/c it fits you well both as far as the comfort and the image
14mph is the same what i had on my 18 vw atlas... its a great suv but a lot of sensors problem which is why i got rid of it.
I just traded in my 2019 atlas for a fully loaded 2015 Chevy Suburban with low miles. I loved my atlas but there was not enough trunk space with 2 toddlers and a baby. I couldn’t utilize the third row because I needed it for storage 😭 I do miss the gas mileage though
Love your videos. Can you start putting the price in the description? I find myself scrolling to where I THINK you mention the price lol
Love it. We need a shot of the cup holders!
Very good cup holders on the Atlas. Both in door panels and center console.
Hi from Palestine 🇵🇸, addicted to your reviews, and two thumbs up 👍🏻 to you . Wish If you can add small advice in each car review about best color combination and best value trim.
My dream car!! Maybe one day😭😍
Good job, Kelly.
Literally my biggest pet peeve when people say center council instead of center console lol
Going to see one tomorrow 😬😬
The AC vents are such a bummer, I really liked everything else but can’t do with those AC vents is one of the must for our new vehicle as our current one has them in the middle I hate that
My wife just looked at one and loved it, so as a dad with twin three year olds, it made the most since to watch a review from a mom's perspective. Very helpful, thanks!
But as a dad, that MPG is killing me...
Great review! Do you do a lot of idling and city driving that the mileage was 14 mpg? I like the atlas, but concerned about efficiency too.
My 2014 Tundra gets better gas mileage. It's a V8... let that sink in!
Same and I have a big block
@@bluecollarbuilds - I actually bought an Atlas with the V6 4Motion. On the interstate, it gets 25-27. Around town, it’ll get 19-21. When towing our 3900# boat, it’ll do 13-15. We towed almost every weekend through the summer and fall.
Overall over 8,000 miles, the average MPG has been 22. All of my numbers are calculated after each fill-up. The dash calculated figures are sometimes close, but differs quite a bit when switching between towing and non-towing like all other vehicles I’ve had.
I’ve had 5 V8 powered pickups in the past and it was a rare occasion to break over 20 mpg. 4 of them had a 6 or 8 spd transmission. 2 also had cylinder deactivation. Overall averages were 16-17. Interstate 18-20. Towing 11-13.
yeah, she's using remote start alot and never reset mileage
Random question, but which car vac is that?!? I’m looking for one that isn’t bulky and that looks perfect!
I know you typically only review larger vehicles but I’d love to see smaller SUV for the moms that only anticipate having one child. I’m really interested in the VW Tiguan, but all I ever see is the Atlas for moms.
The Tiguan is on my list to review!! Hoping to get to it soon!
I love the Tiguan, I have a second baby now but it's still super functional. It's really perfect with one child though!
Is the Volkswagen Atlas still your favorite Mom car? Wife and I are trying to choose between 2021 Atlas or 2020 Acura MDX. Since you've reviewed both I'd like your opinion. Thanks!
FYI-The line on the side of the car on the doors is an added safety measure for accidents...may not be that pretty but it will keep your kids/passengers safer.
You mean the accent crease? There is no additional safety from an accent line. No idea where you got that information from.
@@ocman11 there’s an indent on the sides of the doors that leads up to a line within the door, accent crease? I was told this information from the car dealership at VW.
@@Kristen_Colin its difficult to describe if we're talking about the same thing or not. But the body/accent line that is horizontal pretty much from the front door all the way to the rear is purely aesthetics to break up the size of the vehicle. All safety features are underneath that include crumple zones, high strength steel, and reinforced cross members. The "skin" of the vehicle is typically less than a cm thick.
So informative!
Glad you think so!
Okay, but how did you get to that level of awesome? I get sick of vehicles so quick, I need this option to get a new one every 4-5000 miles! 😂
Love this
My husband said, "I like her!" So do I. Please give a review of that Bissell Vacuum!? I have twin boys that will be 4 in June & a baby due in June. We are SUV shopping as I have a car & I'm thinking a vacuum is a must.
This channel is perfect for moms like like looking for a nice car 🚘😜
We have a 2019 Atlas SE and we love it! It has plenty of cargo space, and has plenty of head room for my tall parents LOL Although our lease with Volkswagen expires later this year. But it’ll be cool to get a new one, because I like that new front grid.
What could you say about the consumption of the car?
It's a bit slow on acceleration, but that's not the worst part about the car.
I really am leaning towards this one. I was sad to hear that VW atlas doesn't have knee airbags while most cars do.
Thank you so much for such an informative review! This car has been at the top of my list. My husband is really hesitant to buy a VW due to the dependability and increased cost for maintenance. Curious for those that have the atlas, has this been a major issue? It checks so many boxes!
Following! In the exact same boat as you! Just put a deposit on a V6 SEL today because my husband is also hesitant for the exact same reasons. Giving ourselves 2 days to figure it out and would love some input as well!
I do like the atlas and tiguan for interior space and general ride comfort for the price point. I just leased my wife a 2021 tiguan R- line. I was and still am shocked at the 2nd row led room. I dont think domestic 3 rows have that kind of room in this class. If I had any complaints it would be the interior. I feel VW interior is bland compared to the competition. Im thinking Hyundai Palisade or Kia telluride. Those interiors look alot nicer.
Awesome video, just subscribed, how do you get a demo car every few miles? Do you just buy and then sell once you reach the mileage?
Her family owns dealerships
@@corinachakalian8914 so nice , I wish
Would love a review of the Bronco!
I am going to look at this next weekend! Can it fit 3 car seats across? I need 3 and I’m thinking about doing the third in the back if not.
Yes only car with 3 anchors in the second row! The car seats just have to be narrow enough. “The carseat lady” has a ton of info on this
Would never have considered this car until this review. Super helpful!
So happy you found it useful! thanks for watching!
I am considering this or the traverse.
Hopefully its a bug and can be fixed but the child safety feature on this vehicle is a major flaw... The door can be only open from outside once its activated otherwise you and passengers are locked 🔒 with noway to deactivated from the driver side... You have to get out and walk around vehicle to open it...
Also, you have to manually turned on each child lock on each door via a key under each door frame... Its not automatic like many other vehicles..
Not sure why they made this feature so hard and difficult to use
300th comment awesome job
Why do you need to remove the head rest? Do certain car seats require for installation? Thank you!
Question: Did you end up buying this car because I noticed it in your last few videos
Can you share how well you think the AC works in the 2021 Atlas? I have a 2018 Atlas S trim. I think I would like it better with a different trim. My biggest issue is that I feel like the AC has no power to efficiently cool the car. I live in Texas and on a hot summer day MAX AC feels like nothing and the air doesn't get cool enough (not a freon problem). Just curious if perhaps this issue is better in the newer models.
I've had my 21 Atlas for a month now and feel like it cools quickly! I'm in Philly, summer heat is here. I usually auto-start through the app, by the time we're in the car it's freezing lol
So, you mention the Atlas is your favorite. What about the Palisade? Do you prefer the VW vs the Hyundai Palisade???
I know nothing about cars but would like something sleek. What’s the difference between this and the Sport?
I just bought this in the blue last Saturday. I traded in a 2020 Mercedes GLC. Didn’t like the GLC. Too small and made me claustrophobic ! I have three kids but they are all grown. Love following you🥰
Congrats! and great choice! thanks for following!!
Please review the Cadillac XT6!!! And if you’re up for it compare it to the Atlas
Are these seats leather? If they aren’t, do you have that available as an upgrade
Please review the Subaru Ascent!!
