Brandon continues to amaze. He had truly grown into his own as a GOTD host. I always feel like I really understand all the nuances of each guitar that he presents. Kudos.
Just visited Norm for the first Time today. Drive there from Saattle and I was impressed as I thought I’d be. And Brandon here greeted me and was super willing to help and answer questions. Also, I’m very honored to be able to play some of the Martins there; and I didn’t feel like I was being stared at too either buy one or stop playing, I felt comfortable. Norm sure does has a great crew and environment he created.!! Hats off!!
Loving the change up of hosts recently, and really digging Brandon’s enthusiasm for all nerd stuff. Really cool to hear a different “interpretation” of an instrument from Lemmo. Those harmonics are otherworldly. Now if only I could have ridiculously long fingers for those crazy reaches. Nicely done!
What a team! Brandon’s eloquent explanations with regard to the historical and technical side of the gear, and, of course, his gorgeous playing on acoustic guitars, Jen’s filming and enthusiasm, and Michael’s always surprising take on the electrical guitars. I wish Belgium had a store like this. I’d come by every week…
When I was building my first guitar, c. 1975, I enlisted the help of a local instrument maker (he used to make repros of ancient instruments for the university music faculty) who cut the neck socket for me. And then proudly showed me his 1957 D28. Loudest, most vibrant, most resonant acoustic I have ever touched, frighteningly powerful, every playing error was amplified! And explained to me that it was special because "modern" (late '60s & '70s) Martins didn't have the projection of older examples because acoustic guitars had become so popular during the flower power era that Martin and other premium brands had used up their stocks of best woods and had to resort to sourcing less selectively. This guitar exemplifies that, it sounds beautiful but delicate, doesn't have the raw power of earlier generations of instrument. FWIW.
So many people have downed 70s guitars of all brands.... Fender, Gibson, Martin, etc. Now... over the past few years..... all of a sudden... 70s guitars are in vogue. I grew up in the 70s and a lot of the best music I heard from Led Zeppelin, Who, Rush, Peter Frampton, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, all used 70s guitars. It is the sound of the music you grew up with. 70s are great overall.
The last song sounded amazing. It really resonated on that Martin. Awesome video Jen. And thank you norm for a glimpse into these beautiful instruments 🍻
so, just went from a stumble in to Freddie King's Going Down (covered SRV style, me last) to the intro here. . Both got me. Beautiful playing, Brandon !
Great reminder about the scamers, I see a lot of them on many different pages, my Gf believed 1 and gave her info, good thing there was nothing to take, nice guitar!
My sister sold my !957 D28 that I bought new. in 1957 in a Garage Sale while I was on the road . Mine sounded better than every one I have ever heard this one included ,but Play On Play On!
Not sure what rock I've been under, but I just discovered this channel. Very cool. Not much beats the sound of a Martin. Enjoyed Brandon's playing. I've subscribed, and I'll definitely make this channel a regular stop.
Blimey, how often do we hear Jen utter an expletive? I really like Brandon's hybrid picking. I'm trying to employ something like that in my own material, although it's made easier by the fact that I don't play with a pick at all.
Great review of a 71 D-28. The 70s Martin guitars are often down graded for all sorts of discrepancies with manufacturing practices. I have several 70 D-28s and D-35s, all are outstanding guitars. Thanks for an honest review of 70 era Martins.
apart from the expense, that diamond valute is the reason it took me forty years before i bought a martin, to me it always looked like something that would cut your fingers off. 😅 but having dissed martin, i consider my martin OOOX1 the best guitar i've ever played or owned, and i have 66j45 a 69 epi texan, a larrivee and a maton TE...
I have one lost to a person stole it and pawned it. My dad gave it to me for Christmas years ago and the pawn shop owner would not tell me who they sold it too. It was at foothills pawn shop in SC
It’s becoming all to clear that UA-cam is personally responsible for allowing these scammers to access their platform. It’s also clear that they “youtube” does not care about viewer safety. This is disturbing. I have reported multiple scams on the platform and youtube does not take them down.
Looking sharp Brandon, gotta love the blue case. Flagship Martin rosewood back and sides slightly softer more refined sound than mahogany in my opinion (not that mahogany s bad either love me a d18) As for the sound beyond the tree, beautiful...Brandon shows you what it can do, by doing what I cannot - but that is the nature of the beast, the instrument - there is always a daunting mountain yet to climb - check out the song 'mountain climbing' by Bonamassa. Excellent job to the man with the style (Brandon) GOTD is something that makes every day better, apart from days they are closed.thankyou norm.the Cat - UA-cam channel music therapy with Parent guide.
1970's Martin guitars are crap. I own a 1975 D35 bought this piece of shit new. Now i own the best guitar avaivable, Lowden from northern ireland. No Martin guitar what so ever comes close to George Lowden guitars.
It doesn’t stop annoying me that the aisle is narrower than the length of an actual guitar. Come on. Every employee who walks back there literally has to diagonally feed the case in and out like teenagers banging in the back of a leSabre.

Saturday morning. Still dark outside and raining. A cup of coffee and this GOTD. Gonna be an OK weekend. Thank you.
🙏
Great way to start a weekend
Oh, the sound of pure power. Gives me goosebumps.
You go Brandon, always a pleasure, an honor and a privilege, you are an artist of unique quality in both music and character.
Gorgeous guitar and amazing playing. He definitely did it justice. Love Martins. Proud to say I have one of my own.
Oh man, the top on that thing is just beautifully aged! What a beautiful instrument. Love the sound of a Martin D 28.
I have a 71 D28, well loved, seasoned with campfire hammer and holler nights.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful guitar - awesome playing.
Really enjoy these!
Thank you kindly.

He’s actually one of my favourite guitarist presenters on the channel.

Beautiful sound on that guitar, the older Martins truly ring like a bell.
Brandon you blow me away with your articulate playing. I heard literally every nuance in that guitar. Thank you for what you bring to this channel!!
Love the playing in this video
Only a pleasure to watch him playing and it is so easy 🙂

What an amazing guitar! I like the case as well! I can tell it’s a “working man’s”guitar that would last a lifetime!
Just wow!! Sounds incredible.
Beefy hunk of ebony bridge there.
The last song sounded amazing. It really resonated on that Martin. Awesome video Jen. And thank you norm for a glimpse into these beautiful instruments 🍻

That d28 is very rich in tone! Great job picking Brandon 👏
A superb demo there from Brandon. I'm not usually a lover of the Martin tone, leaning much more towards Gibson, but I really like that D-28.
Wonderful playing
Wow, sounded amazing Brandon! Great job guys.

Picker, yes👍
Brandon’s fingers look incredibly long. That guitar just sings. Love his playing❤️. He seems to just get lost in the melody.
1971 when dylan played with George concert for Bangladesh. Is that the guitarnhe used?

Brandon, your presentation style is much friendlier than Mark ever was and I hope you are selling a lot of guitars as a result.
the d28 are the best all-around tone, IMHO, thanks BS.
It's Brandon again. Oh ya~~😆
Im going to meet my plastic surgeon next week to see if I can remove a spleen, there is a Martin at Normans I have my eye on!
Weird, my early 70's D-28 says Yamaki Deluxe on the headstock. Cedar top, too. 🙃

(I think the word Brandon meant is leery. “Please be leery of that.” 😊🤙🤙)

Just noticed how long Brendon’s fingers are ☝️
I have an early 70s D18 and it beats any post war martin ive compared it to. Nice playing
Ps very very nice playing brandon

👌
Anyone know the names of the songs at 7:33 and 8:37?
Very nice Brandon! Was that recording off a sensitive boom mic or just your video recorder mic? Sounded so good.
I wish to give a visit.
did Jen really drop an F bomb at the end?
I have a 4 string vintage Goya ( tenor maybe ) for sale
Everbody over at Norms knows. Jen is the boss. Youre in danger if you dont know this.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Must get me some of those long fingers 🤣
A Taylor sounds like a Taylor.
A Gibson sounds like a Gibson.
A Martin sounds like a Guitar! 😏
I am a Premium member and get those scams on all channels ?

What, a 70's D-28 demo - and no G run? Sacrilege!🙃

Brandon--more playing and less talking. saying your name before and after video is not necessary.
So progressive 🤦♂️
?
??
One incredible guitar. I'm definitely a snob. Love Martin's and J200s. You can really hear the differences between good and ok acoustics.
