I don't know about the blade itself, but maybe just move the clamp away from the saw blade especially if you're gonna pull on it (don't want it falling on the blade and/or trapping your hand). I like it though; smart.
The clamp is not too close to the blade in my opinion. I tried to get it close as possible without being unsafe for me. I repeat, ‘unsafe for me.’ I haven’t had a bessey clamp fail once already tightened so… i have however had a bessey clamp fail to tighten and of course got a replacement.
