Thanks. The music choice was brilliant. Very emotive. I went to Bonny's and always remember Latham's Pets Corner. Used to buy fishing tackle there. Run by a bearded pleasant bloke I recall. One day I spotted David Hamilton going into Abe Sacks, the tailor, on the opposite end to Pets Corner. After telling the kids in the playground, we were all soon outside the shop shouting "We want diddy David" . You have to be of an age to know what I'm going on about...
Top video, if only it was the same now, what has time done to our city. There is no rubbish, no pot hols, everything just looks so much better. Really good video, it's shows the young ones what it use to be like and reminds the rest of us of better times.
These were times we were accustom to and grew to adore. I grew up here and it set my path for understanding just how difficult times can be, and allowed me to appreciate the smallest amounts of happiness I experienced. And for that I will always cherish this place and hold it in my heart til death do us part lmao.
The Crescent and Chapel Street before they were wrecked by Salford council. And how many pubs have we lost? Great historical document. Thanks for posting.
One of those pubs, Poets Corner, had filming done outside it for 'Filthy Rich & Catflap' (1987) where, ironically enough, Eddie had just been punched :)
Mocha Parade, always used to get my dinner at the chippy :) Last time I went past a few years back it was all boarded up I think ready for demolition :(
Thank you for this....brought tears and smiles. The Crescent....my university my college my home and life in Salford back in the day. Wilde of Wales for me now but I have a little piece of my heart there....
@@onemansrubbishisanotherman5656 I lived in various places throughout my life. Born just off Lissadel Street Whit Lane area in Shuttleworth Street now demolished. Went to primary school on Whit Lane St George's but often simply called The Clock School. Then went to Broughton High just off Moor Lane up by Cussons soap works demolished now. Moved with family to just off Total Drive ...later in adult life lived Total Road, then Moor Lane, then East Lancs Rd Swinton and just off Claremont Road. Also lived for short time in the bungalow directly opposite the gates of Agecroft Cemetery. Live in Wales now . Salfird is not what it was. But most of the people still are friendly and genuine.
Shame that we now look back as older people and reflect on what at the time were great times places and people and now people have moved died and forget but I never will to me I was great and a great place
Bobbymac I do remember potters. The roller skating ,the snooker hall the taxi rank the best of all the pool hall down the steps. Also before the MCdonalds the pictures on the corner, watched king Kong in there.
What was the name of the lovely real ale style pub on the crescent? The Moon or something similar? I remember they had lovely beer and the juke box played Zep and Sabbath 🤘
erie music.Nowhere much to go round SAlford nowadays.I think Salford Council are hoping SAlford becomes like Manchester city centre.Doing away with Snooker halls pubs and Bingo halls. They want new apartment blocks and people with money moving in.
Salford council won't be satisfied until every building built before the 1960's in the city, has been demolished. They must be itching to pull down the crescent and replace it with a nice piece of wasteland. I keep expecting to drive past one day and find it gone.
I remember this very time in this area my grandparents lived on scarsdale Street I have fond memories of lower Broughton and fredrick road I was there not long ago its changed so much 👎
at 7:38 - does anyone know what the address would be for the set of flats in the long white building on the right. I know its x lower Broughton Road but I just can't remember the house numbers or if it had an additional name. I used to live there and need the address. Just can't remember it.

Been in every one of them pubs that you went past, but back in the 70's and 80s, some 90s and noughties too.
My sister ran the brewery tavern on adelphi Street back in the ninties.

One day that will happen...oh...you forgot to mention a big carpark to make money from parking.
maybe because the old buildings look like shit.
I used to go in the Bridge with my nana, next to the prince of wales
I remember this very time in this area my grandparents lived on scarsdale Street I have fond memories of lower Broughton and fredrick road I was there not long ago its changed so much 👎
Lot less congestion in them days.
Did my ONC and HNC there - how much better it looked then compared to now - quite sad really
2 lanes down to 1 on the crescent. What complete idiots salford council are.
It’s done so they can fake statistics to say an area is more polluted than it is
They’ve turned my Salford into a featureless waste devoid of character. The council planners should be made to answer for the murder of a city.
Love the video trish
silk st my god

Hi. Would like to talk to you about potentially using some of your Lower Broughton footage in a TV series. How can I contact you?
